    Genuinely thrilled to have found a Rivals content creator making conceptual videos that are thoughtful and nuanced. You're respectful to other players because you understand them, and you teach us that understanding. There aren't other people making content with that touch, keep up the format and I look forward to watching your channel blow up.

    23:06 Love this phrasing. Even when you aren't specifically mentioning it as a point, you're clearly in the mindset of "they ain't BAD, they aren't TRYING to lose, they just don't know any better yet and that's okay."

    • @poppinoftenwithlofton6036
      @poppinoftenwithlofton6036  18 дней назад +6

      Exactly, understanding it that way makes it easier to be ok with mistakes you may see. We as humans are way better at pointing out flaws in others than in ourselves.
      Treating a teammate as a teammate and not someone you're stuck with for a match makes for a way easier and enjoyable time climbing.

      @@poppinoftenwithlofton6036 In silver currently, been having a lot more trouble climbing this season, but i gotta say that your videos are great and i actually really learn things. There are so many bad guides and bad information out there, like guides where they just list the abilities of a character and if your lucky maybe a "combo" but they don't talk about the important stuff like positioning/movement like you do. I've been playing vanguard almost exclusively, though its usually either Thor or Strange. I play Thor if we have another tank, and Im very comfortable with him and actually feel like i swing matches regularly just by being such a pest, and also because i can confidently take on pretty much anyone i can get my hands on if its 1v1 or often even worse odds if its squishies.
      However here is where i get to my points: I've been playing Magneto a lot instead lately, because i consistently see him rated as a high tier tank, and i don't want to rely on Strange being my only possible pick for a main frontline tank in case i get to the level where he starts getting banned again this season. So its nice to see you specifically playing Magneto in your tank guides (please keep it up heh). I have a question though specifically relating to Magneto, one thing I've noticed every time you play him, Is that you seems to save his mag cannon (right click) and not really use it actually all that often. Whereas i watched a guide on him back when i was playing my first games, and the person said that you should be constantly firing your mag cannon, and getting back the charges to it by bubbling yourself (you get charges back if your bubble absorbs enough damage to break) and he showed footage of him basically shooting his mag cannon constantly, whereas in your gameplay you seem to just chill with it at full charge and seem to save it for specific situations.
      I know Magneto is not your main, but i'd like to ask you if you think its best to save it for these certain situations (such as when you mentioned you were planning on using the push to prevent the enemy from getting to a health pack)? Or is it better to keep using it almost every time you have full charges to put pressure on the enemy by dealing damage and pushing them around? This has been the #1 thing i've wondered every time i've watched you play him. So is your opinion that its better to save it and have it ready for a crucial moment mostly for the pushback? What I myself have been thinking is that the pushback is fairly minimal, so you're not likely to make big plays with it, so i often throw it out a lot more than you do for example in this replay. 🤔 Since it also doesn't have a max range i've used it to catch far away low health squishies that are out of range for my primary, and generally just every time i really want to commit to having a hero deleted.
      Any thoughts in general on Magneto as a tank in silver? (I solo queue almost exclusively, which is why i've been told to stick to Thor, but he is hard to solo tank with.) Should i still abuse Strange as much as i still can instead of trying to master Magneto? (Even though i thematically and visually prefer Magneto) Because to be honest, to me at least magneto seems significantly weaker than Strange, but maybe I'm just not familiar enough with him yet. I have trouble against enemy Thors mostly, whereas with Strange i can often beat them or at least fight back much more effectively due to his melee cancel and aoe burst, and even his ability to get distance by flying..
      Sorry this got very long... I do really appreciate your videos, and its fine if you don't have any answers for me, but i would greatly value your input, and will mention you in my thank you speech when i win my first Rivals e-sports tournament 😂

      @poppinoftenwithlofton6036  16 дней назад +1

      @nihilnovum5034 Hey, no prob for the length. I'll do my best to explain my thought process with Magneto.
      First, I'd like to say there is really no right or wrong way to play any characters (aside from the OBVIOUS wrong ways like sniping with Punisher shotgun). So find your groove and what works for you. Once you find your footing, you'll be able to improve and evolve your playstyle. There is a reason high-rank players do not all play the same. Everyone learns and plays differently, if you try to mimic someone you'll never see your true potential (used to professionally coach league of legends for 13 years, not my first rodeo hah).
      In terms of why I do what I do, I'm more of a conservative player. I'm more of someone who likes to use strategy to solve problems and think more outside the box while doing so. Your way is fine, to spam it and do as much damage as possible but that isn't *my* way. It 100% could be less efficient, but I'll cross that bridge if I ever run into it. However, based on my gameplay in high ranks with Mag, I haven't run into it yet (peak eternity, started climbing late so couldn't claim top 500 😭 Will this season though 💪).
      When it comes to using the cannon, I use it 1 of 3 ways.
      1. As crowd control, there are a LOT of mobile threats in some games so I decided to use it for that.
      2. To keep people away from me, allowing me to create space and go deeper. If I approach you and shove you back, you're forced out of the space you just provided for your team. Most of the time they'd then be put in a crap position and have to retreat even further.
      3. As you mentioned, it is basically a one-tap kill type of deal if they are low enough (i trust my team for damage even in low ranks, this is why you see me just wait to use it for the first two most of the time)
      TLDR: I just have other things on my mind than kills and I personally prefer to use it for more outside-the-box gameplay. Mimicing someone else's play will stunt your growth, there is no wrong way to play a character. Find your footing, improve and adapt your style and you'll win more than just *one* esports tournament. 😉
      Hope it helps, good luck on your climb. You got this.

    I came from a decade of TF2 which is way more dependant on individual DM skill, gameplay analysis videos like this have helped me wrap my head around modern hero shooter concepts tremendously more than any "tips and tricks" videos I've seen. Thanks for helping me break into gold as a tank main!

    Thank you for these videos! Because of your solo tank and escape bronze tank video, I managed to get to gold as a solo captain America. It's really trying to understand the whys of what I do, and what I am doing wrong, like, I was vaguely aware of the staggering death timers, since in games where my team is dead, I try to wait for them before engaging again, but this video will really help in keeping aware of these kinds of concepts.
    What I have understood from this video is that I must try to figure what each individual enemy wants to do, and what the enemy team wants to do, don't rely on my strategists alone to keep me alive, and be aware of your team.

    Really solid breakdown! The way you explained target priority and staggered death timers was super helpful-small decisions really do shift entire fights. Also love the respect for lower ranks instead of just blaming teammates. That said, I think you could get to the point quicker-this could be a bit shorter and easier to follow while listening at work without needing to watch along. Still, great insights, looking forward to the next rank breakdown! 🔥

    What I’m struggling with tanking in low Elo especially if I’m Solo tanking is tanks that W key me I’m trying to keep them off the back line and I can’t get anyone to either help me shoot the tanks off or get into their back line so they have to turn around. Im asking for Luna or Mantis to CC one of them or something. It’s very hard to get DPS to look behind them and throw damage into tanks and help protect back line. I’m trying to give ground so we can LOS their healers but I can’t really get people to pull with me. It gets so frustrating.

    Would you say learning multiple tanks is a good idea (as a not so hypothetical example, Groot, Thor and Peni) in lower ranks, or would sticking to one and learning them really well (IE Groot) be more efficient?

    • @poppinoftenwithlofton6036
      @poppinoftenwithlofton6036  7 дней назад +1

      I think learning a character at the start is best. If you have a *reason* to play other tanks it's definitely beneficial. If you don't and just flick through then, them it doesn't really help you.
      Let's say you play strange on attack because you feel you're better at pushing with him and Peni on defense because you're better at holding your ground with her.
      With that mindset you're actively working on skills and those skills will indeed transfer to other characters.
      If you're just flicking through and playing characters for the sake of it, skills won't transfer and you're not really learning much at the end of the day.

    • @nolanj.3897
      @nolanj.3897 7 дней назад

      @@poppinoftenwithlofton6036 is there a point where it becomes more worthwhile to learn more characters? If so, what’s the best sway to go about learning them? Do you just grind quickplay with them for a while or risk throwing comp games by playing someone you aren’t comfortable with yet?

    • @poppinoftenwithlofton6036
      @poppinoftenwithlofton6036  7 дней назад +1

      Nah, in my opinion I just end up learning characters when I feel it's a good time for me. You can easily one trick your way up the ladder (or two trick if you prefer).
      Anyone who says you need to have a character for each different situation or map may just be overthinking things or wanting to make the game seem more complicated than it is?
      When you hit top tier games, some characters struggle and have to put in bonus work to win but it's not like you can't play them and win with them.
