Gentlemen and Ladies, THIS is how you review a backpack. Truly, thank you. I have been going back and forth on size for my dog tracking pack and the condor is perfect. The falcon would have been too big. I may send you all products I am considering buying to test them out !
@@playlax12 thank you for your comments and appreciation. Wow - I can’t believe it’s been 12 years since I made this video, that’s amazing. I don’t have that computer anymore, but I remember when I swapped out the hard drive for an SSD on it. I was thinking yesterday as I left work that I’m still using my Pygmy Falcon 2 pack and that’s gotta be from 2011 or 2012 and it’s still rolling strong. I did replace a buckle on the front of it several years back because I think when it was really cold, it finally cracked. It helped me decide to do reviews like this also because that Vulture 2 pack is gigantic when you actually try it on; it’s really too big for regular daily use, but it would probably be OK for something you put in your car or that you wanted a large capacity for I just watched through the whole thing again and felt a bit nostalgic for days gone by. That little dog has died since then. But I have learned and grown as well. Have a great 2025 everyone.
Best review video I've ever seen, bar none! Very complete and so informative I'm left without a question to ask. I have to agree, a water bottle holder (or 2) on the Condor 2 would have made it a 10!
this is exactly what i wanted to see. a side by side comparison of size. it's so hard to find pictures of people actually wearing these packs, they always put them on the ground and it gives you no perception. much thanks for the video
Hey man I really appreciate you taking the time to make this vid. I've been researching Maxpedition backpacks trying to decide which one to purchase and your review/comparison was extremely helpful. Seeing all three side by side will help me make the right decision. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome review, and THANK YOU for trying them on! It drives me crazy when reviewers don't try the packs on, there's really no better way to get a true feel for their size. I have been looking at the Pygmy and the Condor and this definitely helps me make my decision.
Glad you liked it. It really helped me to see the sizes of 3 Maxpedition packs, versus just a photo online. The Vulture is quite a bit bigger than the others. They all are super strong and repel water very well.
5.11 makes a water bottle holder with the molly straps all you have to do is weave them into the molly webbing on the side of the pack, I have them on the sides of my Falcon 2 pack and they match it very well, I keep a MSR water filter on one side and a Nalgene bottle on the other. works great and looks great.
@emp0rt: 5'10" tall, approx. 190 lbs depending on the day. The Vulture is pushing it for carryon size, it can get big when filled up. Condor would be better size for carryon, easier to fit in overheads or under seats.
Thanks for the pack comparison, I think the Pygmy is out for me, because of no waist strap, not needed I guess, just feel better with a waist strap, the vulture might be too big for what I wanna use it for, which is basically a day pack maybe over night.
I would just like to thank you for not pretending to be some wanna be military, " Tacticool " scrub who thinks, because he wears camo, he thinks he knows what its like to be in the military. You gave a common sense review, with detailed info on size, and features. I just bought a Condor II, because of your insightful, non toolish review.
Zane E Excellent thank you for the favorable review. It was kind of fun to do it and I know with time I get better at it. I am still using my Pygmy Falcon 2 daily, maybe 7 yrs old?
I returned the pack a while ago, don't remember, but if it was a smaller sized one such as 13 or 14" screen I believe it could fit. The top edge is curved so it limits how big of a computer could fit there.
@Michael Dean Morrow Glad you like it. I didn't find one that compated the packs so I figured, "why not" and put it together. I should figure out how to enable the $ for vids too, I actually enjoy making them and helping people make good purchase decisions.
Thanks for the review. I'm wondering how tall you are. I've been debating on the condor vs the vultureand am wondering whether or not the vulture is too large. Also, in your opinion, would the vulture be too large as a carry on?
@losteden: I think Maxped.'s size claims are too "generous." The Kelty Redtail 30 pack (30 L) is larger than the Condor 2. Maxped. site says Condor is 32L. I just wanted to show the relative sizes for reference.
@xodicGAMING I meant "sure" not sue. I think organization would be easier with the Falcon 2. But the thickness is less with the Condor 2. I don't remember exact capacities off-hand. If you need more space the Vulture 2 is over 1.5x bigger than either. Hope that helps.
@xodicGAMING Not sue why it says spam, sorry for that. The Condor is wider and unzips 3/4 of the way. The Falcon is narrower and unzips fully. If you are putting a water bottle or other pouch on the sides, it won't be so wide withhe Falcon 2..

Seeing the packs together was really helpful
Reviews dont get any better. Thanks!

Great comparisons. Very helpful in decision making

I just got my Condor 2, today. It is smaller than I like, so I am looking at the vulture 2 now
Thanks for the size comparisons! At last I can make a decision.
I found this very useful, thanks !
Agreed, it makes it easier to compare them, and not a lot of places show them side by side. Thanks for watching.
Maxpedition makes a water bottle carrier you can purchase separately that attaches to the molle webbing. Currently, these cost $39.99 on Amazon.
Thanks for the awesome review... Much appreciate it.
your size comparison is very helpful. Any idea about new internal frame backpack which was shown at shot show 2013?
I returned the pack a while ago, don't remember, but if it was a smaller sized one such as 13 or 14" screen I believe it could fit. The top edge is curved so it limits how big of a computer could fit there.
Thanks. Great video. Best one so far.
Fantastic review! Thanks heaps for making it. :)
Excellent review. Thanks
Yes, she likes treats, and doesn't mind keeping the floor or any plates clean
Terrific review! Thank you!
glad you like it, helps to have the size comparison of the packs
Super helpful thank you very much

Cool, you're welcome, glad to help.
@oneminus2: catchy name, I appreciate the feedback. You're welcome. I wanted it to be a good comparison as I was researching packs also.

excellent comparison video - thanks
which one did u get?
Well said 👏 👌
@afterthefox71: agreed, I don't carry in pack, only on person for quick access. Funny example, well said.
Really really great job thanks
can a notebook computer fit into the bladder area?
good vid
thanks very helpful
@Michael Dean Morrow darn it, I meant "compared". This tiny mobile keyboard. ....
Just so yall know the Condor II is NOT 1950 cu in it is 1350.
southernfryedyankee thank you, at the time I couldn't find the exact capacity, but it seems smaller than advertised, as you mentioned
My problem is these are a little too small, on a adult they look very awkward.
i think this bag is not 30l...
how many dogs can you fit in there :-) ONLY KIDDING
Ip man!
Great review! If your into throwing knives at all come check out my channel. Cheers
