Whether you like it or not the old man is brilliant and cannot be intimidated, he is principled.

Well , who is watching this interview in 2020 ? The old man was completely prepared he was on fire ,black intelligence ,he mst be recommended to serve at the Supreme Court of Apeal straight away bottom and klaar
I must say this comes with experience, he didn't panic nor be under pressure. Just love the voice also
He is good bt he was a little impolite at times. Asking back questions is a no no in an interview no matter how poked u may feel.

Judge Tokota is simply a gem.He surpasses the level at his age.
I could not agree more. This man is simply emmaculate and is the Father that all South Africans need.
He is a master of his craft. I am sure he has experienced enumerous injustices towards him personally but never did and never will bring his profession into disrepute.
I cannot salute him enough, be enspired by him enough and be thankful to him enough for this lesson: If you are committed to your art, you do not require validation from anyone. Your art needs you.

Commissioner Malema got his match here. ADv. Tokota, now Judge, was well prepared and he firmly directed his answers with confidence. I loved this interview. By far, it's my favorite.
After all he must have gone through during his time as a magistrate, no wonder he was able to deal with the questions with such dignity and intelligence. When a man has his principles at the forefront of his judgement, he is immovable. I wish we had a judge like this man in my country Zimbabwe.

Oh what a judge he is a man of integrity who didnt apply master servant relationship ...I wish all judges were like him.
I think the approach he took was "When I was in Rome, I did as Romans do" however one cannot take away the critical intellectual style of Juju's questionnaire and how he setups narrow minded and highly emotional politicians on debate platforms, the point Malema is coming from is how the post 94 youth should imply and apply their minds in current debates along the future of this country, however he should have admitted the system was a no good system, I think when he said "what I should have done" he was just hiding behind the thumb. The system needed to be challenged indeed, however Tokota was focusing or prioritizing on his articles and qualification rather than engaging and confronting the most harmful system ever imposed in our country. So for me a combination of thumbs up and down for both Juju & Tokota.

For me JM brought a balance into an enquiry that would have taken a linear approach. He was more on interrogating the mind of a man called upon to fill big boots. He wanted to see how this man has evolved since apartheid and to see how politics or religion has had an impact on his rulings and if at all he can still be unable to question political manipulations for if the truth be told the judiciary systems in Africa are not yet immune to politics. The independence of the Judiciary system is wht JM is after and he wants to see who really is the perfect candidate to put in power. Someone who can be neutral. If people think JM was being petty then we are in more trouble than i thought.
Adv. Tokota answered questions with great style. He's really on top of questions, relevant answers were all over his sides.

I think apartheid question was one that I think got to him, he could have have said that the system was bad but he did his best to be fair,especially when his most centered argument is that the law is based on facts.

I like Adv Tokota's confidence. Yes, he did not do well in some questions from Commissioner Malema. However the last two questions were well attended to very well.

i am sure i have watched this interview for 7 times now...first time in 2019 when i thought i was going to be a lawyer one day. Now it is 2023 studying Education..
I understand what exactly Malema meant when he says all this questions. Remember the Judges who handled Marikana Report where saying things like Muthi and so on. He again likes the judge.
