Originally performed for the First Aid For Dancers Virtual Summit
First Aid For Dancers created space for leaders in healing, mental health, and dance to exchange stories and resources to build a brighter future for artists in our community. The summit offered support to dancers of all ages and nonprofit groups affecting change in their cities. In total, we raised $1,486 for Art of Balance Chigaco and Self Reclaimed, which will provide 50 free therapy sessions for survivors of assault and abuse in the greater Chicago area.
It was an honor to be a part of this essential mission. My intention with this piece was to embody ethereal joy, the kind of happiness that follows authentic freedom. This and so much more were possible thanks to Ellen Kim, Anna Sarao, and the powerful team that volunteered their time and insight to make this real.
