    Well done as we thank you for such a wonderful site worthy of the Edison archive and in memory too of the man who did so much to keep vintage dance band music alive -Rich Conaty 1954-2016.

      Thank you Nigel, I appreciate the compliments. Rich was far too young to leave us so soon. I wish I was able to devote full time to this like Rich. Remastering the records, finding the content for the videos and creating them takes many hours. Then there is the added expense of the software for sound processing, video editing, various size stylus which are expensive (which are getting harder to find and only one source seems to manufacture the ones I use). I often wonder if it is worth all the effort involved. I dislike all of the false copyright claims on much of this material. The record companies are also a bunch of greedy crooks. They didn't reissue much of this music as it wasn't worth the expense when they had to create records. The advent of online streaming changed all of that and now they want to claim what they in essence gave up prior to this. Thank you for watching the channel and commenting Nigel.

    You have an incredible collection of vinyl here. How long did it take you to get them all? Where did you buy them from. Was it at house clearance auctions etc. Fascinating Hobby.
    Be great if you did a video on the story of this amazing collection. The sleeve covers are works of art in themselves.

    • @pax41
      @pax41 5 лет назад +3

      Glad you are enjoying the collection Tech Tins. Just a side note, the old 78's are actually made of shellac and not vinyl. Vinyl was developed later to help reduce the amount of surface noise in recordings that is common in shellac records. The music I post actually comes from my collection and from a good friend of mine. I have been collecting for about 17 years and my friend has been collecting for at least 40 years. I collect various types of records dating from 1900 - 1945, the majority from 1915-1940. My friend mostly collects records dating from between 1925 and 1940. He doesn't care for the acoustic records, basically anything prior to 1925. His collection contains some really hard to find jazz records and many I haven't posted due to copyright claims. I am not sure what you mean about the sleeve covers? I use a lot of old magazine covers and articles for visuals in the videos. Some of the old 78 sleeves were quite beautiful but rarely do you find them in good condition. I have some old magazines but at least half of the cover artwork comes from Pinterest. It's cheaper to buy the old beat up magazines which usually have the content intact but the covers are destroyed. Most of my records were obtained via online auctions and ebay, some from estate sales. Maybe I will do a post and detail out some of it. Thank you for watching the channel!

      Thanks for this info. That is totally fascinating. To me this is the closest one can get to time travel. Plus I love music, so the history combined with music is a perfect combination. So from your reply the old magazines you had to find adverts for each of your records you have. That must have been a difficult search to match them all up. Or maybe their is an online resource that does all this nowadays. It would not surprise me.

      Also I learning piano (not good at moment, but can read for sheet music) so it would be great to find the sheet music of these old tunes. Have you any suggestions on the best way to go about that?

    • @pax41
      @pax41 5 лет назад +1

      You will only find sheet music online from 1923 and before that contains the music. Anything from 1924 on up will most likely be under copyright still, so they won't put it online. You can buy it online from ebay or other vintage stores online. An online search for sheet music should yield some libraries that have available material.

    Who did all the art work ???????

    • @pax41
      @pax41 4 года назад +4

      A lot of the magazine cover art at this time was created by Rolf Armstrong. One of my personal favorite artists along with J C Leyendecker.

    ROARING 1920s Music is Truly the Very Best! I Include up to 1933! Next up is the Early to mid 1930s!!! not by far behind the 1920s! After 1936 ish I start loosing interest! But You have Recorded a version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" That would qualify for 1931 by a British Band! But recorded in 1940!!

    • @pax41

      Bob, I don't venture much past 1940. I do like some of the British bands from the late 30's. I also like Orrin Tucker, one of the few 1940's bands i enjoy.
