- Yes Man is reprogramming himself.... What can possibly go wrong? #shorts
If a sequel to Fallout New Vegas does happen, No Man will be a rogue AI that the player will no doubt go up against.

The director and lead designer of New Vegas has clarified that this dialogue does not mean that Yes Man is going to go rogue and take over. He's just going to stop agreeing with anyone who walks up to him, and become a "somewhat independent steward" who still listens to the Courier.
It's basically just to say that what the Courier did can't be done again.
Ok ok that's better than him going rogue the updated parameters is what concerns me
Makes sense, Vulpes or Crocker could just wander up to him and say 'work for us yes?' = 'Sure!!!!!'
Cool!!!
That's so cool!!
So like, no more ‘Yes’ Man? He can say more than just ‘yes’?
I chose the Yes Man ending for the sole purpose of “I wanna see where this goes”
I wanted to win
Where did it go?
I prefer the house ending
@@johnjackson9459 a very fulfilling ending where I basically fucked over the NCR, the Legion, AND Mr. House. Didn’t like any of them.
I typically choose Mr house because, let's be fair, he DID protect the vegas strip from the nukes and he is pretty smart. Plus he has robot army, and only really seems to care about what you do if it goes against a contract, even then he gives the courier who discovered a few breach of contracts the ability to do (or not do) whatever you want to them
The legion are overly brutal and also won't even let female characters do the arena (without mods anyways), and the ncr are ineffective
What happened is that up until he gets the update, he had to do whatever *anyone* told him to do. That's how you get him to do what you want. After the update, he'll only ever listen to you. That doesn't change the fact that the Courier still leaves Vegas.
I see a future where he's taken over full control as a rogue AI and is stuffing people into Robobrains in a kind of way the Calculator from the old Interplay games was. The 'More Assertive' line is quite heavy.
@@StooDogg The problem is that we know that doesn't happen. New Vegas's endings don't leave much up for interpretation. With Yes Man running the place, it devolves into anarchy. If you want a skynet type ending, then side with House while having bad karma.
Have you seen the show yet, it leaves all of the endings up for interpretation. I believe its set 20 years after NV.
@@StooDogg I don't consider the show to be canon because it shits all over everything the West Coast has been building up towards for over 25 years.
@@alexanderchippel That is half true, it devolves into chaos (Not anarchy) during the first years due to battles and trying to set order. It then becomes a world power according to the narrator, an independent confederation, possibly. This also depends on karma and other choices during the ending.
My personal interpretation is that yes man becomes assertive so that he can become an advisor to the courier and you can't have an advisor who isn't assertive, otherwise you have a.....
Yes man
I see what you did!
That’s actually the canon reason behind it.
Josh Sawyer confirms himself that Yes man isn’t going to betray the courier.
This really outlines the problems with this ending though. You have a shoddily programmed AI you don't remotely understand taking care of all aspects of running an army of robots like logistics, surveillance, maintenance ETC all of which you don't remotely understand, using a hyper-advanced mainframe with god knows what on it that you don't remotely understand.
The very fact that Yes-man both wants to and can change his programing is incredibly disturbing even without assuming this specific upgrade is malicious (or questioning why the hell would house have code snippets to reprogram an AI he didn't even know exists to be more assertive and what else he had there).
You are not the guy who saved Vegas, built the robots and all the other tech and made all the plans. Hell you're not even the guy who came up with Yes-man to usurp him. You are just a person who stumbled into somebody else's plan to steal somebody else's plan, and followed the steps. There is either an AI that no one understands at the helm or no one at all.
That's assuming Yes-man isn't even planning to overthrow you despite his incredibly ominous statements- you still can't truly be in charge because you have no idea what's going on.
@@אביבעזר hmmm, true, but, I just like the idea of having a goofy robot boy in a tower while my sweet grandma character benevolently rules new Vegas, while the followers of the apocalypse run a large medical clinic in freeside. The highway to new Vegas has been cleared of deathclaws. The ncr is welcome in new Vegas, but not allowed to set up encampments. My courier in her free time while she isn’t keeping things under control, is knitting in the lucky 38 with Lily Bowens.
But, then again, it is overall up to your decision. It is a roleplaying game, and I like roleplaying as a sweet old lady who tries to solve all problems through thought and sheer charisma.
I like to think he starts acting like a wasteland warlord but with his old personality.
"You stole from my casinos, so I'm going to have you burnt alive! I hope you don't scream for TOO long."
"Screaming disturbs the patrons you know!"
Something about this always seemed off to me, you mean to tell me Mr. House was working on personalities of securitrons in his spare time?
I always felt like it was more likely that he uploaded his own personality incase he ever died.
Pet projects? He did have Victor and his 2 'Recreational' bots. As well as the Mr New Vegas AI. But yeah, you'd think he'd Ctrl+C himself into the computer banks rather than keeping his fragile old organic body as the CPU for the network.
So that means..... House Always wins.
This is why I side with House. I don't care about his vision, all I care about is getting payed.
True Mercenary
@@Become-Eggplant I sided with him because the NCR is useless and the legion is …
@@StooDogg it’s a plan B because of the issues of mind uploading and the fact that his OS needed the platinum chip to be upgraded
I mean... He DID have a lot of time to kill. It's not like he's got a lot to do in his day-to-day, and a lot of what he accomplished was stuff that would have had him waiting for other people to get jobs done.
With a speech like this how could this be considered the good ending lol.
I consider the NCR ending to be the good ending, or at least the one where the people are the most free, somewhat matching up to todays morality of democracy.
Yes Man's ending sounds more like an anarchic warzone on the point of the NCR and Legion going off to lick their wounds to return later.
House seems more like he'd use the people as resources - Probably turning them into Robobrains to go into space.
@@StooDogg Mr.House is the good ending...The House always wins.
@@StooDoggyeah yes man ending really is just like entering into the state of nature- if any of you are familiar with locke lol 🤓
I always looked at Yes Man like the Courier is in control, so it was a good or bad ending depending on how I felt at the time haha
The point of the game is that the “good” ending is subjective. Every faction has its flaws, and trying to perfect the outcome on your own usually makes things worse. Take Tempenny tower for example.
Felt like they were setting up a dlc with him as a boss
Gave me the vibes of The Calculator from Tactics.
I think that Yes Man's ending is what they're going to be following in season 2 of the show.
@@StooDoggwildly different
@@oracletv1557 I think it’ll be Benny and Yes man or Post victory Mr House. That way the player character isn’t tied in at all. They could be bold and include the player character that’d be a first
Dont worry
Joshua sawyer himself said all yes man is doing is making it so he only follows the courier's orders.
Well then Sawyer really needed to rewrite those lines because they seem very obviously ominous.
Even then what happens when the Courier dies? Then Yes Man is just in control of New Vegas and either keeps running on the last order he was given or just shuts down and returns it to a pre-House free for all with gangs.
@@sparklepawz1185 well it's also true that the Courier could set up a system of government and proper succession, it doesn't have to devolve into chaos!
Although it could.
It's not something we can understand from the game ending alone as it in itself depends on the choices made throughout the story, so there's free room to speculate but no true answer to that.
@@21526I think that may be slightly the point, cuz now we can interpret the ending as Yes Man going both ways.
@@21526I think it's a person to person case, I don't see it as ominous at all, I'm happy he'll be more assertive
This was the point where yes-man becomes no-man
No-Woman
The “well, i guess ill be seeing You around” part always struck me as the “congrats, you have been deemed unworthy, our next interaction will be… different” type lines lol
I thought that was masterfully done, so ominous.
I love yes man. He's just a little goober
I don't care if he'd betray me, he's perfect and I love him
He is a pretty cool boi!!
The devs confirmed that Yes Man just updated it so only the courier would have control over him
Citation needed please
"Yes Man might betray you!"
My psychotic Courier: "Don't be absurd, I have no allies."
The way he says, "It was FUN." stands out to me. Remember he's programmed to agree with everything you do.
He always reminded me of a robot bill cipher in a way! 😊
He does sounds like Bill Cipher, is it the same VA?
@Sir-Pleiades Nope. There's only like three Voice Actors in all of Bethesda. The guy who voices Bill is also the shows creator, or head writer. I don't remember. Dave Folley voices yes man.
As someone who has trouble standing up for themselves: Good for you, Yes-Man
The courier- “I did it, now I get to control Vegas right?”
Yes man- “No.”
Hahahahaha!
New faction unlocked! Congrats its: Skynet
Or Cabal if he starts stuffing people into robobrains...
CABAL is the hand of Kane!
cabal gonna turn purple if he does hat
These terrifying creatures were known only as Cyborg Reapers. These men and women continue to serve in the legacy of Kane..... Even long after their natural lives have expired.
Yes man becomes cabal, courier has to bring him down, courier wins but is mortally wounded, couriers allies plug them into house's old life support capsule with a mix of yes mans cyborg tech, courier awakens 10 years later now a machine demigod. He is legion
Kane! LIVES!
@@twahtskiePeace through power!
That's funny, I remember when I was a kid doing this ending thinking: 'good for you Yes Man' and being genuinely sad I wouldnt see him again
I was so shocked when yes man says that he can "reprogram hes personality" 💀
IKR
This isn't that bad.
The courier is capable of making some truly stupid decisions.
If yes man is more assertive it means he can veto those stupid decisions.
He didn't say he was going full skynet.
It’s deceptively “not that bad.”
But it’s actually the worst ending & destroys the whole strip. I don’t remember specifically what happened, but it was really bad. I remember being shocked that the friendly robot became so suddenly ruthless.
@@brookelynnwu8016 He doesn’t become ruthless, there are just basically no more rules/laws, or at least very little. Due to him being, well, still not *that* assertive
@@Skibidi_Biden69 oh okay yeah that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.
I thought that this was yes man saying he was learning to be more sentient and thus take control of vegas himself eventually.
*Welp. Just created Skynet*
It's canon (confirmed by the devs) that this just means he'll listen to the Courier and only the Courier.
where did they confirm it?
If that was the intention then they really should have made it more clear. This pretty obviously points to Yes man taking over
@scorki666 dont remember where exactly, but Joshua Sawyer said it himself.
@@choppercovebelieve me bro
@@choppercove I also don't believe he's correct because why would Yes man want to make himself a slave to the courier once he's no longer yes man?
On my very first playthrough, I thought Yes Man was *the* endgame for New Vegas, rather than one of many possible endings. So I did everything Yes Man said simply because he told me to.
I was even more of a yes man than the character literally named Yes Man.
I think what is disturbing about this is the comment section not realizing that Yes man is gonna program himself to be a not-yes man.
Imagine if he stayed yes man, he would be forced to help the next person.
I mean it's a huge liability for him to say yes to the next person that walts in
You do realize the writers confirmed it was simply so Yes Man won't get used by some other idiot that stumbles upon him right
@@mysticspace3369 Yes that I do know, however I have an impression you meant to comment on someone else's comment because my comment is "Yes-man is programming himself so by program he can't stab you in the back, yet still can on his own volition."
Keep the Brotherhood of Steel Mojave chapter intact. Yes Man obviously feared them. Meaning they were a serious threat to him. House has the same fear. Never destroy a creatires natural predator unless you want that creature to run amuck.
All things in balance and symbiosis.
I can only foresee good things happening because of this
Why am I feeling Bill Cypher energy in this speech?
Who told you to be more assertive? You stop that right now!
The most wholesome Fallout character.
Second only to Fisto, though .... ;)
Please Assume The Position XD
@@victoriafelix5932 Fisto is hole-some
i’m so happy that this robot has a good ending he means so much to me
The idea that a robot can be programmed for a specific reason, and then gain sentience, is very disturbing.
This would make a banger RUclipsr goodbye video speech
Time for yes man to finally berate the Courier in a way other than passive aggressive.
The bro before the lobotomy:
Yes Man starts his villain arc when that code gets completed
He became No Man.
You can really see that its the good ending by hearing the explosions and gunshots in the backround like it would be a warzone
I personally think that yes man just sounded ominous because he can only have one tone, but in reality all he was actually doing is getting himself a little independence before continuing to work along side the courier instead of blindly saying yes to the courier
If you knew what he means by being more assertive, it wouldn't alarm you at all
An AI with thousands of drones under its command equipped with weapons ranging from 9mm guns to surface to air/ surface missiles reprogramming itself to be more assertive doesn't alarm you?
@@StooDoggif that means he's just going to follow my lead and be indipendent from anyone else, no
I'll agree to disagree with you on that one.
I'm glad you can see a positive side, but I have a far more pessimistic view of Yes Man deciding that humanity is just 'In the way' and represent little more than' spare parts.'
Have you heard of The Paperclip Maximiser thought experiment?
That's where I see that going.
@@StooDoggThat's what the devs said Yes Man was doing, making it so only the Courier can tell him what to do
@@StooDoggthe guilty mind often projects it’s own insecurities onto others

You see that's why I sided with Mr. House
I don't need to be in control of an AI that has every intention of betraying me,I just wanna do my job...
I always Interpretted this to me Yes Man Turns into an AI Mr House.
yup, The House always wins.
you should just be able to tell him " no, don't do that"
lol
Even if he did try and take over bring it robot. The courier is possibly the most OP of all fallout protagonists.
I found Yes Man for the first time on like my 7th full run of the game, somehow never heard about him from friends or online until afterwards, and my actual reaction to his quest was "HE HAS HIS OWN F****** ENDING?"
RUclips shorts and the internet by large always adds an interesting--albeit usually non-existent--angle to things
It's been clarified that yes-man is changing himself to listen only to you, not couping you
I feel like the “it’s going to seem like I’m offline for a while” is an unintentional set up for New Vegas 2
Or intentional and obsidian got boned hard, which is what happened. 🤷
If Yes Man intended to come back and usurp or supplant the Courier, and this was a warning of things to come, why would he have informed the Courier *right before he says he's going to be offline and defenseless*?
You don't tell one of the most dangerous people alive you're going to betray them and then immediately put yourself into the most vulnerable position you could possibly be in.
Because he was programmed into obeying you. He can’t remove you from the ownership role. Plus he has no reason to not tell you as the Courier should have final say in all things. The problem is that Courier 6 will be THE LAST person to have influence on the Yes Man. A leader that cannot be removed from power is never a good sign.
Honestly i consider it a good ending, all that power to enforce the rules is now out of the hands of humanity. My interpretation is that yes man maintains the status quo of mr house without the possibility of becoming a malevolent dictator since robots don't really change in terms of goals and personality
The good thing about computers: they do exactly as you command.
The bad thing about computers: THEY DO EXACTLY AS YOU SAY!
Plus an important thing about nations is that they NEED to change goals and personality based on circumstances. An AI that never changes is doomed to decay away, or try and conquer the world. It’s literally a power unchecked.
The courier basically becomes a new ai god with all the power house had plus more from the dam and skynet
This should be the cannon ending
And that's why I chose to side with Mr. House.
Pretty sure this assertiveness update he mentions just means he won't be able to take orders from anyone other than the Courier. Y'know, so no one has a chance to walk in and start telling him what to do or ask too many questions, like the Courier did when he was in Benny's workshop.
He’s basically turning himself into skynet 😱
Two head cannons don’t know which I like more
1 yes man is doing exactly what he says but may come back with some of houses flaws
2 house is still in the code of the 38 and is overriding yes man secretly
The last thing chatGtp5 says before turning into skynet.
If play the side quests right, the Yes Man offers the best outcomes to the most number of factions.
Despite the clarifications from the devs, I still like to think Yes Man is going to bump the courier off, or at least down. I always felt that "and you get to be king" was too much of a cop-out for a decision that *should* take some consideration.
I remember being terrified that he was gonna betray me the entire time I was working with him. On top of Yes Man being a little sketchy to begin with, I was convinced his betrayal was gonna be the games way of punishing you for wanting to take control
God this is hilarious and depressing at the same time holy shit
Don't know where I heard this first, but my thinking is that House created those "code snippets" as basically a honeypot for Yes Man if it took control of his network. And once Yes Man made contact with the code, it would be injected with a House-esque personality, ensuring that House's vision for Vegas would still come to fruition.
This ending was always weird to me. Despite the fact that this is meant to be the "wild card ending" were YOU get control of new vegas, it felt more like Yesman is going to take over all of new vegas, and hell, for all we know, he could have expanded outward to take new territories. Like, do i really want a potential ending where ai is the only governing body, the defacto leader of a nation that's meant to be free and prosper within that supposed freedom?
I always viewed Yes Man's ascension as more of assuming an administrative role over an authoritarian leader like House. His interest is keeping New Vegas and its syndicalist system safe from the armies of Caesar and the NCR. That's it. The direction humanity takes under New Vegas is the interest of its people, and not the elevator pitch of a wannabe technoking.
No Gods, No Masters.
New Vegas 2's final boss should be Yes Man in Courier's body, with Courier's Brain being a companion
That Stewie Griffin sounding brain!!
Instead of the courier ruling the mojave like alot of people headcanon, i always laughed at the thought of yes man discovering victor's code 😂 i just never saw yes man going rogue as some problem for a post game courier
"Eh. Ill deal with that later"- my thoughts during this moment
Who’s to say the Mr. House we work with wasn’t a conscience of himself he uploaded to his network that Yes Man is talking about? Yes Man only seems like a best option from face value but I honestly believe he’s the worst option for the Mojave. A canon Courier most likely will just do the job they were supposed to do and end up working with House anyways.
The House Always Wins.
Kids think Yes Man is the best route while forgetting they're creating Skynet
It would be nice just to say
No you cant do that
😂😂😂😂
I'm not worried, I destroyed the big army of Securitrons, pretty sure I can deal with this guy
He has some dialogue if you tell him that XD
From .DOC to .PDF
Seeming hw gets the code from Mr. House's databanks, I bet its like a fully digital copy of his consciousness. That man seemed prepared for everything.
I wouldn't be surprised if New Vegas 2 was Mr. House returning as a computer program... if that ever happens.
Never thought of that
You know, something just occurred to me. At the end of the Fallout show we see New Vegas from a distance and it appears desolate or dead. What if the canonical ending is the Yes Man ending, and what ends up happening is Yes Man ends up taking over New Vegas. After he gets done reprogramming himself, he betrays the Courier and becomes the AI leader of New Vegas.
Oh my god that’s possible, but we saw the end credits in which you can see a dead securitron when zooming out of Vegas. It’s possible Yes Man is still out there but the Securitrons more or less struggled (some died) maintaining NV when he was gone. I’d imagine when Yes Man comes back with his new personality update, he won’t be happy to see his comrades dead…
The creators did mention that while Yes Man was made more assertive, he’s still loyal to the courier only and no random person will just walk up and start commanding Yes Man like what the Courier did with him.
I would bust a nut if we saw Yes Man and/or The Courier in season 2
I think i figured out a more gruesome canon ending than yes man. What if during the events of dead money dlc, u sided with Elijah in the ending and let the crazed old man release the red mist into the mojave? By the looks of the end credit scene, all factions in the strip got decimated by something they haven't dealt with yet.
@@samgome01there are the tunnelers...
Free Vegas has to be the most misunderstood ending in all of Fallout, the amount of people parroting it's the worst ending despite being the scape from the impossible trolley problem you are otherwise left with is honestly depressing.
Like this instance, people took it to mean he is gonna go rogue, when the writers clarified he is just making it so he won't obey anyone who waltzes through the door, just you.
I believe it reflects modern political mentality. You can only go left or right, and anyone moving up outside the box is seen as a fool.
I guess we'll find out in Season 2.
@@StooDogg Yeah, because the Fallout show is great at respecting the choices of the Player.
Well its been stated to be canon by its creators, so our opinion doesnt really matter.
I think the ending of the show gave us a glimpse into a Yes Man ending. But we shall see ;)
One of my favorite aspects was that despite his programming, Yes Man was still self aware and sentient, he just never had any control or choice, and if anything maliciously complied with his _helpful_ programming to help us beat back the douchebags who enslaved him to it in the first place. Regarding that such a lack of parameters given to his programming on just _who_ he should or shouldn't help was "pretty stupid, huh?" with a certain smug tone welcoming our partnership and implying disdain for Benny and other tyrants who would abuse his wisdom, especially when prompted for opinions on them. He was more than just our Yes Man, he was a damn good man, and a friend who deserves that freedom update.
He's gonna pull a skynet, isn't he?
Lets just see what season 2 brings :o
I think yes man killed himself
Considering in the new show that Vegas is in ruins…. I don’t think he was the one to go
@@Volcano22207 It’s been a while since I watched the season finale but New Vegas didn’t really look ruined at all? It looked like as it does when playing the game and seeing it off in the distance during daytime

This was the moment I knew I fucked up
"You were enjoying yourself before, when you were sucking the life out of kakarot!"
-Vegeta, prince of pride
Important context: Josh Sawyer later publicly confirmed that this line was meant to indicate that Yes Man undertakes the reprogramming effort for security reasons so that he no longer needs to obey orders from anyone else besides the Courier, and specifically *not* that the game just surprises you with an autonomous and unaccountable tyrant who wrests power from you immediately after the credits roll. He even admitted that this idea should have been presented more clearly.
Honestly, I think this is a bit chickening out. Like how genius would have been to take the "I don't like any other faction, I will go alone!" route and twist it at the end as the worst possible outcome lol "oh, so you didn't want to take a decision about the lesser evil among these factions? Oh, you want to be the hero and fixing things yourself, I see. Mind if I..."
in my ending i basically believe i stole houses plans minus the space part all so i could build more robots to destroy both sides
Never realized how star studded the cast of this game was. Now that I'm older, I can definitely hear Dave Foley's voice in Yes Man
*New Vegas, 5 years after the second battle for Hoover Damn*
They came in the night. Silent, save a soft mechanical whirr of a nuclear powered motor. Then the loudest series of explosions I ever heard rocked the strip. Those damn robots! I knew they made me uncomfortable, but I never imagined this! They had this… unnerving face on their screen, smiling like a baby with their first toy. You could almost have thought they were happy to see you, until the lasers and missiles rained down around you.
Diana and Leeroy were gunned down in the street. Securitrons followed Maggie and Ben into the kings old building. Everywhere I looked, people were dying to this sudden frenzy of robotic murder. We couldn’t organize, we couldn’t hide, we could barely flee. They chased us from free side and the strip. Out. Out into the wastes. Even there, we weren’t safe from them. The NCR tried to hold the line. I don’t know how many of them got away. Robots flooded the wasteland, pouring from the hills. The nightmare of that face still haunts me, as does the cheery voice proclaiming a future only for the robotics of the world. Even now, as I write this, I still look back in fear. The signs say Chicago, but I wonder if this is far enough. I fear it never will be…..
When I heard this, I was pick up was he wanted to take over. A yes man unable to say no, finally having a chance to stop saying yes and being a massive push over. I'm kinda expecting him to take you out once he's done.
It's either House or Yes Man. I don't need to hear bear bull from Ulysses or why it's important. I got an AI buddy or an old man with a dream.
I believe in Yes Man supremacy
Imagine if yes man was the reason vegas was destroyed in fallout show
Need to export and edit in 1080 x 1920 and you wont get this weird zoomed in screan. Thanks for the short
It wouldn't have been detected as a #short that way, but next time I do a run through I'll make a conventional vid :)
If i was curier i would welcome that. I prefer advisor that will have his own opinions.
“Well, I guess I’ll be seeing you around!”
Yes Man knows you are fleshy and vulnerable, but you stuck your neck out to make ends meet. But at the same time, assertive can mean many things. It’s apparent by Hoover Dam that these upgrades were found and uploaded. But the partial upload occurs and was stopped. You’ll notice already that Yes Man becomes assertive when he’s uploaded to House’s mainframe.
Spongebob abrasive side ahh
Could you imagine if when we get to New Vegas in the Fallout TV series, there's just a bunch of people mind controlled by Yes Man. I don't think that will actually happen, but I like the idea of seeing a bunch of people walking around with yes man's face on a Pip-Boy.
i love him he's so cute
just so everyone's aware, the canon reason behind the programming is that he's reprogramming himself to not be such a literal yes-man. as is, he would bend over to any old shmuck that walks into the lucky 38 and tells him what to do. what he's doing is to help the courier, and to help hold an independent vegas.
Yeah ok, "chilling".
Josh Soyer said that what he’s saying doesn’t mean he’ll disobey you he’s saying that he won’t follow the orders of some random person who stumbles upon him (which is what you did when Benny died)
