The reason the bearing felt lumpy is because you hit it with a hammer. If you're gonna tap it in use a large socket to only apply force to the outside of the bearing. Also you only need to weld the center part, the flange is fine. I use the same wheels and wanted to see if you had a more better method than me for strengthening but pretty much the same, good video, thanks for sharing with everyone.
+Gopro 4 life If you are in the UK then Drift trikes UK. Or facebook other groups in your area. They will have spare or know how to get hold of some. If you want real danger/fun try PVC not PE. More fun in the dry
Are these HF wheels? how long do they last for you? I know you add plastic on the outsides. but have you tried these modifications and used the rubber part of the tires for any amount of time? Meaning will they last at all as go kart wheels once the modifications are done? I've just completed the same modification but still working on go kart so i was wondering what the outcome of long term use is? Thanks. great video.
If you have the money go for go kart wheels, they are stronger but if you break em more expensive to replace. The mod was designed for a cheaper alternative. I run em for 2 years without a hitch until I did that big kart wheel. lol .A cheaper option is nylon go kart wheel (can get em in NZ)
Just a thought, i have very similar wheels to you, but iv noticed that as soon as you spin and hit a curb, the pvc goes off center. And is never perfectly balanced, i decided to put two wheels each side, which not only makes them stronger, but also makes it so the pvc is balanced and will spin flat.
Great idea! yep the barrow wheels and tyres although cheap are quite narrow. There are cheap Nylon go kart wheels now too. (made in NZ) If you have the cash though a bit heavier then go straight to proper allow gokart wheels. Depends how often you are going to hit the curbs. lol the new triad wheels look cheap too. Sleeves and wheels in one
Amazing video man. Really was looking for someone who did this. I want to do this but was afraid of the bending situation. I plan on welding my go kart axle directly to one hub and when ever I want to change the tire, I just unscrew the bolts. Do you think this will work? Thanks.
If you are using go kart hubs you might as well go for the extra strength of go kart wheels. They slip less but of course are tight on the rim. Even with a split rim go kart wheel breaking the bead is tricky. Welding the wagon wheels to the hub would work but if you side swipe em you'll have to striaghten em. How ever its a lot cheaper and easy to replace too. Perhap a flange on the axle would be best of both worlds. Tehn bolt the wagon wheel on to the flange. that would give you extra strength and quick replacement. you could even have double wagon wheels
+ScottFrancis0138 yeah. That's what I was trying to say. Since the barrow wheels have two parts that sandwich the tire, I was going to weld one to the axle for quick tire change.
yep and if you wanted you could even go double wheel for more stability. no more nails is "liquid nails" high strength solvent that stops the tyres slipping out of the pvc sleeve
+ScottFrancis0138 Ah ok, thanks! Last night I came across a place that sells PVC sleeves with an inner diameter of about 230mm. I'm guessing this will be far better for a 260mm wheel than 200mm. A question I have asked on another video that you may not have seen is: Is the axle diameter on the original Huffy Slider 12mm? Thanks :) Edit: I just got your reply to the other question. Sorry, I never got the notification.
You said that the outside diameter of your bearings is 18mm. I have been looking online for bearings and haven't come across any bearings with 38mm diameter. There are many bearings with a 37mm diameter, though. Were yours 37mm? Edit: Nevermind! I just read a comment where you said the bearings have a 28mm outside diameter. Sorry!
Inside diameter 250mm. But with barrow wheels you cd go a little smaller. Don't forget to put no more nails on the edge of tyre and sleeve or the sleeves will riggle off. Ans as long as you don't side swipe too many gutters they should be good to go until you can afford go kart wheels

yeah thanks for the hints. I use PVC and Aluminum go kart mags now. cheers for watching
Thanks and where did you get the pvc struggling to find cheap sleeves to fit 10" (256mm) wheels anywhere

+ScottFrancis0138 thanks for getting back so quick mine are 4 mm to big for the pvc do you reckon that will be fine
Its sounds fine. Should be nice and tight. I would then no more nails the tyre to the PVC both sides

Where did you buy the bearing from ??

Would I be able to fit 10" wheels into an 8" (200mm) PVC pipe if I deflate them fully? Also, what do you mean by 'No more nails'?
