@@aviosmedia It had been a while since I looked at their caster list, so your video was a good reminder of them. And I pleasantly found a few new surprises.
I'm in New Mexico and there are no base stations near by. Does this mean I need to set up a base station of my own, or can I still connect to the nearest base station with relatively higher accuracy than GPS?
Are you talking specifically about RTK2GO? There are likely government run stations that you can connect to (in the US referred to as NTRIP or CORS). Failing that there are probably paid services you can subscribe to. If neither of those work then, yes, you will have to set up your own base station. I will have a video on that in the future but it's not there today.
4:45 Hi Barry. What do you mean by “make sure your mobile device has a strong internet connection” is your RC connected to your mobiles Hotspot for internet? My RC is connected to a local WiFi and has an Internet connection but I get a save error. The nearest Mount Point is ~15km away, confirmed it was Up, but still, I did not receive an email from rtk2go with what the error is. Cheers!
Yes, I connect my controller to a hotspot - often my phone. A save error usually means there is a problem with the data you entered so it can't connect. I've had it where the data was all correct and it still didn't work and they couldn't explain why. That was not RTK2GO, but a different provider. But I was able to use a different connection point and that one worked, so maybe try a different connection point even if it is further away. It might not give you what you need in terms of accuracy, but it could help determine if things are working. I wish I could help more but sometimes the connection points just don't want to play nice.
Well, after many failed attempts again today I ordered all the parts to build my own base station. Then tonight I tried again and it connected, and shortly thereafter I found that Florida has its own network free for public use and I was able to make 3 separate connections after registering. Like you said, some days things just don’t play nice. 👍
@@TheMalerdaemon Awesome! I'm glad you got it sorted. Building your own base station sounds interesting. NY has a good CORS network. But if I try to connect to a specific base station it never works and they can't tell me why. Fortunately they have an option where it connects to the nearest one and that always seems to work so...🤷
Mission accomplished. I set out to build an all-in-one “Portable_Base” that will fit in my drone case and now that it’s completed have ordered parts for #2 a vehicle residing “Mobile_Base” 5v / 12v powered, external Wi-Fi and detachable mag-mount GNSS antenna, and 3. Permanently installed “Home_Base” with roof mounted antenna and LAN connected to the internet.
I have asked a friend who does a lot of work in that region. But, in the meantime, maybe look into one of the paid services like this? pointonenav.com/states/new-hampshire/
Great video : Map URL referred to is -> monitor.use-snip.com/?hostUrl=rtk2go.com&port=2101 (Just thought it would be handy for people to copy+paste, hope you don't mind)
Thank you! I actually meant to do that - I did post a link to the page that had everything in but you are correct it is better to have it in the description, so I have updated it. Thanks for the assist!!
Good stuff Barry!
Thanks Tony! Glad you liked it :)

I'm sure new ones are added (and probably deleted!) all the time so it's worth checking
Great video, many thanks 👍
You're welcome!

@@TheMalerdaemon That's great - did you follow a tutorial for that? If so I'd be interested in the instructions.
Too bad there is so little coverage in New England. Mains has a good CORS network. Does anyone have a recommendation for New Hampshire?
