In the 30s the Italians recorded phenomenal successes with their open cockpit, canvas covered biplanes against the Ethiopians... who were armed with swords, spears, slingshots and bows.
The same Italians got their asses served on a plate when going against the Ozzies and the Kiwis.

Lets see what allies supply with the f16's, i hope enough that they can at least protect themselves , with much better radar and missiles that once fired will take out their target every time.
If they do not have the best radar and missiles, then the west is just sending them to be destroyed. But i suspect behind the scenes Ukraine is already preparing their own upgrades to the radars and possibly to any missiles they receive, remember how much they improved the himars they received and how they improved the patriot system so much compared to what America manufacture, hitting targets that the manufacturers said were impossible to hit with the system..
Ukraine is in a do-or-die situation and nothing will stop them, even rumours of them developing a much, much cheaper patriot system and a much cheaper and more effective HIMARS system ready for use next year, hopefully.
While Ukraine is abiding by the agreements not to use western weapons in certain areas, they are using the knowledge they have gained about all western systems to create their own and do so cheaper and better than the original.
Remember the uk during ww2, they were able to build flying fortresses fast, like one every day, and multiple spitfires were built every day. I am sure the uk is helping Ukraine develop their own weapons and helping them with organising mass manufacturing of them. Maybe they can't build aircraft fast, but ammunition and drones and armoured vehicles seem to be churned out very fast right now.

To be fair, the su-25 is actually a pretty good CAS attack plane. It's had double the speed of A-10, and is capable of tanking some damage.
Of course now, when AA systems are more advanced, it doesn't look that hot, but the same goes for all other CAS planes out there.
That's why CAS role is now filled by multirole fighters, which have way higher speed, and better defenses.
For example, some new F-16 are getting new radar, which can jam other radars, which can massively improves capability to strike without being targeted by AA.

The SU-25 is a substantially better attack aircraft than the A-10. The SU-25 is still quite effective, where the A-10 has been obsolete for 35. We had 70 of them hit by ground fire in Desert Storm. 70! We had to pull them out of the daily rotation.
The only reason the A-10 still exists is because several Senators use it as a jobs program, just like NC Senators just did forcing the Air Force to keep a squadron of worn out F-15Es so they can keep those 500 maintenance troops paying rent & buying used cars.

At 0:54 I can make out the shape of an Su-25 clearly enough to identify it, there is clearly something wrong with it though and there seems to be something coming out of the center of the aircraft, probably smoke, as well as possibly having an engine on fire? In reality, the SU-25 is a substantially more effective attack aircraft. The A-10 is too slow to get to the fight, and doesn't have enough legs to stay once it gets there. The F-16s are so much more effective providing CAS.
Not to mention, the A-10's gun can't penetrate any newer Russian tank (T-72 & newer) from the side or rear. That's if it could hit the tank. The jet has been obsolete since 70 got hit by ground fire in Desert Storm.

The role of the A10 is close ground support. It doesn't need to be fast. There is the F16 for that. It's not the plane, it's the delivery of firepower from afar. Learn about the number and variants of missiles and bombs the A-10 can carry. Fire and forget missiles that no tank can resist.

Appears it may actually be the plane, and as the person taking it says, the pilot is then ejecting from it at one point, but it appears that the ejection may have failed whereby the chute deployed but the ejection seat did not fully get clear of the aircraft and is then acting as a descent chute for the doomed craft.

This was also my question and I believe to be able to identify the form of the wing, so yes, I will say, most likely a Su25 (according form of wings, shape of the overal plane). And I am pretty sure, we see the plane (I think, I can identify someting yellow in this grey dot, so it is on fire) tumbling without power like a leave from the sky and additional the small dot above, the pilot after ejection and later the white parachute.
So the 1000 $ question, what the hell is the Su25 doing so high above the ground? Ok, as we can not see the ground, it is possibly much lower as we believe, so perhaps not several thousands but only 200 or 300 m above the ground, but this is by far to high to survive in this war. Both sites have a high amount of AA ground based systems, starting with manpads to BUK, all the medium range Soviet based systems and also S300 and Patriot systems on Ukrainian site. which partly also cover frontline parts in the northeast, south and east. So flying high near to the frontline is often just an one way ticket, why they have done it? As the pilot seems to have ejected, likely it was something small so a Manpad or one of the smaller Soviet time systems.

I cannot imagine how deadly they will become in the next few years, but whatever capabilities they get they are cheap and easy to manufacture in large numbers negating the massive spending by America on its military, already two American warships were seriously damaged and possibly out of service for a few years, if America cannot stop the first iteration of drones then how are they going to cope with what is coming.
