What a great group project! It's always inspiring to see young minds grappling with Physics! Nice job to you all and keep up the great work! FYI, I watched this to help study for my 200 level atmospheric sciences final. Thanks! Frank will live with me in my head now forever.

I think that this is a great way to help the kids learn about science, by helping to teach it themselves! Great job!

This is not a demo about the coriolis-effekt. It is only a demo about how a heavy mass is following a stright line depending of its initial movement. When the board is rotating the heavy ball is following a curved line, on the board, but not according to the nonmoving table underneath. (I suggest)

I learned this term of call of duty 4 in the sniper mission when we try to kill imran zakhaev, captain macmillan says I have to take the coriolis effect into account, I don't really understand what he means with that

An impotant message to viewers here. The PERCEIVED rotation is only for someone in inertial frame AND things NOT pinned down to earth. This would seem only curve only to people standing on the dinner plate NOT to outside viewers. To outside viewers the ball moves in straight line. Only because the ball left a mark in the plate did you realize it took a (seemingly) curved path.

This has but a single thing to do with coriolis effect. Which is amazing and interesting, btw.

This experiment is not performed correctly. The plate should be moving with the ball, before the ball is released. The ball would then have the momentum of the plate before being allowed to chart its own course. The white release ramp has been designed to accomplish this, but the students are not using it correctly.

@knightbook1 then why don't you go take a real class instead of searching for youtube videos

I'm really sick of kids from elementary, middle and high school posting so-called youtube videos. It's irritating & for attention. I want a real, academic approach, not some kids trying to look cool on here for their few minutes of fame.
