All you need is WD-40 to clean o-rings and other rubber parts. And Dielectric grease (doesn't harm rubber) applied with a small shop brush. I use dielectric grease on all coolant o-rings and o-ring pipes, (assembly is like butter). Also on rubber gasket in harnesses. A tube of it will last a long time. Its like a thicker version of petroleum gelly (Vaseline). As far as cleaners for throttle and Evap I have a spray can with a straw of throttle cleaner and also a spray can with a straw of Mass Air Flow cleaner. All of these (WD-40/Dielectric grease/Throtle cleaner/MAF cleaner) can be bought at any auto parts place down the street for cheap and last a very long time. Cheap but essential. Don't get me wrong this was a great vid. Look forward to the next one.
AT-205 Reseal is another excellent alternative.... The nice thing about this is you can apply it directly or ad it to the reservoir of whatever is leaking.. Hard to find at a decent price right now (11-05-2021)..
Hi Nathan, great video I have watched most of them over the years. I am having some issues with my e46 2004 BMW 325i. Getting the P0444 code as well as the small vacuum leak P0442. I replaced the seal on the gas cap then the actual gas cap as well as the purge valve. Maybe the valve I got a bad valve but still getting those codes. Any thoughts? I am assuming it has to be one of the vacuum lines but any insight would be highly appreciated. Car still looks great but at 195k for a 16 year old car, its looking down the junkyard.
This video is tooooo long that y paused before the minutes To much blah blah blah and why spend to much on gasket cleaners when you can use WD40 and dishwasher soap
I’m a college student on a budget who recently purchased a 2000 BMW 540i. Body and interior are in great condition . Unfortunately there is oil smell in cabin accompanied with oil leak , coolant leak , check engine light , needs a new coolant reservoir. Codes that arose are P0440 and P0011. Mechanic says one of the parts I need to replace is about $350 plus $55 to degrease oil . Forgot to mention pixels are half out in speedometer dash (found diy videos showing how to replace LCD screen and ribbon). Have found your videos very helpful and will definitely help save folks money, many thanks brother :)
Hello I would sell it asap, the p0011 code means the timing chain guides are going out, there is no one to help you fix that and will cost $4000 to $7000 for a shop to touch it, find a nice 525i or 528i or 530i that has not been overheated, hope this helps
2000 bmw 540i is not a car for a college student.. you will go broke. I have a 530i 2003 and i think they are better made than the v8. Also not to mention i do my own repairs and they are alot. If you plan to take that car to a shop all the time i promise u you will go broke or you will be so frustrated.

Dont forget that rear vent valve also for those codes. Mine had an o ring that went bad there , took forever to track it down
Why the need for using strange expensive "cleaner" to clean rubber gasket? Isn't soap and water enough?
What else would cause this I all so have p0604 what can I do
