Hi! Thanks for your question! Ideally, you want kids to read from left to right. I would always recommend starting at the beginning of the word rather than looking for words in words. Some will learn to read well no matter what approach you use, though. If whoever you are working with starts misreading words or guessing at words, I would definitely be concerned.
