People who appreciate driving dynamics more than range, I'm guessing. Or aesthetics. Minis are superb to drive, not that Zoe is terrible. Just very different target audiences.
The people who buy this over the Zoe 50kw will be an odd bunch. My guess is this mini will not sell many, then they will reduce the price. When they do bring out a 50kw battery it will cost a lot more than the Zoe, and for me it still wouldn't sell many.
So the conclusion would be... if you buy this car, you will still need a proper car as well. It would make a decent 2nd car but I wouldn't want to be paying that much money for a 2nd car (I probably wouldn't want to pay that much for a first or only car!)
Zoe 52kw for about similar price, no chance of this mini E will sell well. It will bombed in sales figures or I will eat my words. When they do bring out a 50kw version it will probably similar money to the 64kw Kona @37k after grant. Kona of course.
I think that's what people have been saying. It would be nice to have it as a second car but I ain't got that kind of chance. Even buying my first car has been difficult for many reasons. The insurance is ridiculous where a lot of people do insurance scams thus the price for insurance costs more than the actual car, it might be cheaper now, however I need to check. I wish the range would have been comparable to non electrical cars. Maybe one day.
I have been driving a 500e with sticky track tires sitting on coilovers for more a whole year, that’s 88 miles of range when full btw . I get everywhere I need to be with no issues at all. Gotta go far? That’s why you have a second car.
This is a really nice car with a very small tank. It would work well in NYC or San Francisco, but it's very limited by the short range till a great EV infrastructure is set up country wide

At least you can now use the armrest with the electronic brake. I have a Cooper Classic II at the moment and was looking at this for the near future, but not with that range.

That's what Mini's have always been. Terribly overpriced, but remarkable to drive. Absolutely love my Cooper S. Got a Prius recently and it's like driving a wet towel in comparison.

Electric is definitely the future for most people. Charging isn’t a big deal, especially in cities. I had an i3 for a while and an occasional fast charge would take no more than 20 minutes.
Ant Mault: The new Tesla V3 chargers are capable of adding 75 miles in 5 minutes. And battery and charging tech is getting even faster. You don’t need to charge that quickly anyway - Just charge overnight and use superchargers during road trips. Simples. Hydrogen will be handy for shipping and aeroplanes, but utterly pointless for road vehicles - For man, many reasons.
I used to drive 90km a day with my 24kwh Leaf. It worked great! I had never a problem with charging. Just plug it in every night. At wintertime I needed to charge at school, but it wasn’t an issue. And it was free also! My grandparents who drive less than 20km a day (if that much) drives an Tesla. They charge only ones a week.
What is not easy saying about it just looks the same as any other biggie driving down the road sorry but the Honda is far better looking and the interior is so much more fun.
I can't complain much. BMW knows their biggest market for this car is China and in Europe. In Europe it's a good city car and many families already have an ICE car for long range driving. Here in China the average person commutes about 80-100 km per day (up to 60miles) and people travel long distances on trains and planes. Plus China is pushing big incentives on EV's. So it's a win for them. Same with the Honda e

I regularly travelled 476km in NZ many years ago. During that drive I would regularly stop for rest breaks and toilet stops, therefore taking approx 6 hours to do so. This ensured I drove safely, fully awake and totally without stress. I'm struggling to think of any reason why someone would want to drive 800km, take only a 5 minute break, then continue on. Sorry, but your logic makes no sense. (Feel free to enlighten me, always happy to see a different valid point of view). However, for almost everyone, a range of 400km is more than sufficient for almost any occasion. Charging time allows you to recuperate and 'refuel' yourself. And before you ask, I'm definitely a long time petrol head, but I realise it is time to change away from the ICE for the sake of everyones' future.

Anthony Petty I think you are missing my point. I have never driven 800km on any journey and I’m driving 15 years. If I was to I would do as you do, taking rests and stopping for food. The point I’m making is that it only takes me 5 minutes to refuel my diesel car from empty and it will take me approx 800 km easily. An electric car will never reach this level of range in this time at any point in the near future. I live on a street where I cannot recharge an electric car. I simply cannot hang a plug out my window. There are no electric vehicle charging points nearby, my nearest if six kilometres away. I don’t have to time to drive to one and wait for it to charge. There are no electric charging points where I work. I believe hydrogen will be a better alternative in the future as it can suit everyone’s needs just like current fossil fuels do. Regardless of what anybody says electric cars simply will not work for everybody. I agree we will need to change our power source from fossil fuel (it will run out some day)to an alternative but I think hydrogen if far more practical than any electric car will ever be. Whatever the future holds I’m sure it will be exciting. Safe motoring!

You can disable the 1 pedal driving, it's configurable. As well as creep

This ensured I drove safely, fully awake and totally without stress. I'm struggling to think of any reason why someone would want to drive 800km, take only a 5 minute break, then continue on. Sorry, but your logic makes no sense. (Feel free to enlighten me, always happy to see a different valid point of view). However, for almost everyone, a range of 400km is more than sufficient for almost any occasion. Charging time allows you to recuperate and 'refuel' yourself. And before you ask, I'm definitely a long time petrol head, but I realise it is time to change away from the ICE for the sake of everyones' future.

Esa Edvik everybody seems to be missing my point. Electric vehicles are not as convenient as cars with an ICE. I’m sure it doesn’t take you hours to fill up your car. The range on that is crap. I would never buy any BMW or Mini for that matter!
Anthony Petty I think you are missing my point. I have never driven 800km on any journey and I’m driving 15 years. If I was to I would do as you do, taking rests and stopping for food. The point I’m making is that it only takes me 5 minutes to refuel my diesel car from empty and it will take me approx 800 km easily. An electric car will never reach this level of range in this time at any point in the near future. I live on a street where I cannot recharge an electric car. I simply cannot hang a plug out my window. There are no electric vehicle charging points nearby, my nearest if six kilometres away. I don’t have to time to drive to one and wait for it to charge. There are no electric charging points where I work. I believe hydrogen will be a better alternative in the future as it can suit everyone’s needs just like current fossil fuels do. Regardless of what anybody says electric cars simply will not work for everybody. I agree we will need to change our power source from fossil fuel (it will run out some day)to an alternative but I think hydrogen if far more practical than any electric car will ever be. Whatever the future holds I’m sure it will be exciting. Safe motoring!

Dreadful range, awful space in the back and only 3 door, seems like a big step backwards for electric cars and Mini.
