He said that this album was rushed. The Swan's Chamber album was difficult to play live and he wanted to have something new to tour behind that they could actually pull off. So this album was quickly put together. In retrospect he didn't think this album was up to par and replaced it with Shelley's Secret.
I read an interview from Taylor done back in march of this year and I'm pretty sure it was just because he was unsatisfied with this release compared to everything else he's created, which is normal to think but I still wish it was up :(

This man is a genius. Honestly, Surface to Air Missive is a candidate for most underrated musical artist of all time.

Why did surface to air missive try to memory hole this album?
Right? This album is pretty great from them too, it's not like it pales in comparison to their larger discography. I just want it on streaming ;(.
