primates (including humans) have vision as a #1 sense. for canidae, vision is only #3 behind smell and hearing. if they dont hear or smell another animal but see it in the mirror they get confused. most animals are not intelligent enough to recognize themselves in the mirror (exceptions: primates, elephants, etc)

It’s astounding to me how many people actually believe in a video like this. Half of them are laughing at the video and the other half are exclaiming that it’s so cruel, and yet neither of them realize that basic perspective doesn’t even make the rug look remotely like a hole from the angle the dogs viewed it from, not that a dog would be “fooled” by this anyway.
