Lol you’re so right, the whole French names in perfumes pronunciation thing is so ridiculous and unnecessary and annoying, a lot of people just can’t pronounce French sounds because they don’t exist in our native languages...
That was exactly my point! I do agree that you should at least try, but some sounds I just can not pronounce. As I have an accent in english, the same I would have one in french
I'm not sure that this is true because, as a French native, I have to make up a fake American accent when I say French words so people can understand me. I assure you, only a small percentage of RUclipsrs pronounce French words correctly. French is hard to pronounce and nobody cares if you say things incorrectly, on the other hand, if you work in fashion or any related field and butcher French brands, it would just show a lack of interest. I also don't understand why brands persist in naming their perfumes with French name while they are obviously not French brands, especially when it sounds clumsy (Navitus is very good at that, their French names are completely messed up.)
@@marinelab people for sure care. I get all the time rude comments about the way I say french names . My point was why everyone is leaving rude comments when someone says a french name wrong ,but if it s in any other language nobody cares. My example with italian names was just because also a lots of perfume brands come also from Italy and nobody and absolutely nobody says anything about the way people say the names(side note, I m not italian, I don t speak italian). Before I film a video I use google translate to hear the exact pronunciation but if you are not a native speaker it s very hard to get that right. For example as hard as I try , I just can not say the french "R". Same as I can t say that very strong "H" in arabic, the "TH" sound in english etc. I do think that I m trying and I m doing my best to say it right but people just have a problem if you don t say it perfect .
@@rbdvivi1 I think your French pronunciation is pretty good, your Italian as well (I'm half Italian), and I understand your point. Are the rude comments from French people or just random entitled people? Unfortunately, rudeness became a trend on social media and I doubt that those who practice it intensively would be able to prononce anything correctly...I know it's boring, It's a loud minority that we should just ignore for the sake of peace.
Marine lab I do speak 4 languages fluently, including English, however French is not one of them. Perhaps it has given me a greater respect and appreciation for the language and culture of non-English countries?
It is so easy in this day of technology for people to go on their phone, type in "how to pronounce____" on google and instantly get a video saying that exact word.
Which is what Gabby does and she is perfectly right, it's hard to capture the accent. However one can immediately tell that she has at least TRIED. I for one have never left a comment correcting her pronunciation because the effort is obvious.
What I do find annoying however is for people to disclaim that they are going to "butcher the name because I don't speak____ " when it's obvious they didn't even TRY to look it up and even make an attempt.
E.g. Pronouncing Gris Charnel "GRISSS" rather than "GREEH" and prefacing it with "oh, I don't speak French". Well... I don't either, but out of RESPECT for the perfumer and brand you have chosen to FEATURE in your video, it would be nice if you took the 30-60 seconds it would take to look up how to pronounce it. At least TRY.
If the RUclipsr can take however long it takes to do their makeup, hair, lighting, record the video and edit the video, I feel there is little excuse for not looking up how to pronounce the name... Especially if they are already uncertain about how to pronounce it in the first place.
For me, it's not about being perfect. It's about at least trying and not throwing in a bunch of excuses to justify not even trying.

I have Hugo Boss Private Accord and truly love the scent . To make it last longer, I have paired it with the Bath and Body Works lotion called Chocolate Covered Cherry.

"Dragée" in France is a candy with almond inside that we offer at the wedding and the celebration. Your pronunciation is good. I had this scent before but lost it and i agree that it's better than guimauve it can be heavy and too sweet for some. I love your videos :) kisses from Paris

I think the best gourmand I own is Essenza Miracolosa by the italian brand Peccato Originale! It first smells a little bit like slightly burned cookies, and then it becomes even more delicious and yummy! 🤤🤤🤤🤤

Yes girl, people are SUCH sticklers about French pronunciation. I bet that, here in America, some of those same people would probably get mad if they heard me speak Spanish in public lmao I wish people would keep the same "energy" for all languages

I don‘t understand why everyone has issues with longevity. It lasts a whole day on me, projection is good in the first hours after that it is more of a skin sent but it last me pretty good. 😊 I love it.

There is something in some montale fragrances including chocolate greedy that translates as dried urine on me unfortunately . And thats not even coming from me, my husband asked if I had peed myself when I was wearing it. 🤦♀️😆

Or young/new money type scents? Most of the other videos on this topic tend to just put mature scents (iris, lily of the valley and chanel-adjacent) as opposed to perfumes that smell all around expensive.

Hi! Tbh I couldn t find a good dupe for it. Pure xs has a popcorn note, but they are very different. I just keep my bottle in the bag and respray every 2 hours 🤗

I don't think people who correct your french are rude. They are teaching you something I personally would love to learn new languages I used to pronounce many words wrong I always look them up to learn and understand.

Maybe you are thinking I am rude for French pronunciation tips? I don’t mean to be rude at all. I just wish people would look up French pronunciation, especially perfume reviewers. Just to get a general idea, not to be perfect- accents are awesome. And that goes for Italian as well. It’s not because it’s outrageous to mispronounce French. It is because perfume is a French art and there are so many terms snd names in French- I don’t understand why ppl don’t take an afternoon to learn the basic rules of pronunciation. Call me rude, but I stand by my wish that reviewers would make an effort not to completely butcher the French.
I am the same way to be honest don't know why she took it so personnel but why doesn't she take advantage of her love for perfumes to learn a new language?
