This may feel like an odd choice, but this was one of the songs I chose for my mom's funeral. This song is uplifting, yet has such a bittersweet vibe that it just felt right. I recently found an article where Glen Hansard described this song as ""simply a well wish to a friend, to someone who's been finding it hard to see the goodness in their lives." Now I'm especially glad I chose it, as that was kind of how I felt at the time. I was saying goodbye and wishing her well in her new spiritual journey.
Sometimes you hear a song and just move on. Well, I heard this song and it moved me. My son just got offered a great new job yesterday and I sent this song to him as a congrats and kudos.
6 in a row. Brilliant watching the Dubs singing this song together. May your winning streak never end. I wish Clarke, Vaughan, and parsons a very good future . It was an honour to watch you play.
A remarkable song with a remarkable message. This song was introduced to me by Ryan Arnold of WXRT radio Chicago tonight. Let the binary wood warm the mantle and fortify the cast.
Damn, and I was just thinking this guy already made his best material. Shame on myself for being wrong. Can't wait for the concert in Brussels in a couple weeks, I'm really stoked now.
Wonderful Song ! Love it ! It's a great tune, with excellent lyrics, and Glen sings it beautifully ! Marvellous Video ! It is very well made, really suits the music, and is a top class production ! Many thanks for sharing this fabulous upload ! 5*+ Shared on Google+
Through summers long and Winters cold May you always have someone good to hold And may good fortune wait on every bend And may your winning streak May it never end So, roll the dice, boy 'Cause my money's on you Take my advice now and put your money down too Because there's something in the eye you just can't pretend And may your winning streak May it never end And may the sign of the Southern Cross Be some comfort to you when you're lost And may the devil's evil eye Pass you by Well, it's not for glory, I tell you true That I do these things I do for you But for a promise I made now I must defend And may your winning streak May it never end Hey And may the sign of the cross Be some comfort when you're lost, Help you when you're all broke down May the spirit of good brethren, turn you around And may the devil's evil eye, pass you right by Don't you look back my friend And may the sisters of good charity Take you in Through summers long and Winters cold May you always have someone good to hold And may good fortune be a constant and a loyal friend And may your winning streak May it never end May your winning streak May it never end May your winning streak May it never end

sross66 It does sound inspired by Prine's "All the Best", but there's nothing wrong with that. There is no such thing as original music since jazz died.
@sharon are you joking??? Inspired by? You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. There's a difference between being inspired by a song/artist and blatantly ripping them off....... And your "statement" about jazz further proves my point of your idiocracy on several levels.

Einer der Songs, die einen zutiefst bewegen, die man nie mehr vergisst. Danke Glen Hansard.
Not typically my kind of music, but I'm currently obsessed with this song. 💕
What do you like, typically
Glad to hear it. Let me direct you to another great Irishman Foy Vance.
@@allisnotwhatitseems. Bangor Town is my favorite by him, definitely the acoustic piano version of him playing in the Irish pub.
Been on repeat for 3 days now ......

Which one of Van's songs...I'm curious?
Through summers long and
Winters cold
May you always have someone good to hold
And may good fortune wait on every bend
And may your winning streak
May it never end
So, roll the dice, boy
'Cause my money's on you
Take my advice now and put your money down too
Because there's something in the eye you just can't pretend
And may your winning streak
May it never end
And may the sign of the Southern Cross
Be some comfort to you when you're lost
And may the devil's evil eye
Pass you by
Well, it's not for glory, I tell you true
That I do these things I do for you
But for a promise I made now I must defend
And may your winning streak
May it never end
Hey
And may the sign of the cross
Be some comfort when you're lost,
Help you when you're all broke down
May the spirit of good brethren, turn you around
And may the devil's evil eye, pass you right by
Don't you look back my friend
And may the sisters of good charity
Take you in
Through summers long and
Winters cold
May you always have someone good to hold
And may good fortune be a constant and a loyal friend
And may your winning streak
May it never end
May your winning streak
May it never end
May your winning streak
May it never end
Thank you for the lyrics!

Captain Paddy Brown! I saw his framed portrait! I was Ladder 3's flower lady after 9/11 xxx
Great song
Can’t wait to see you december in ulster hall
Nice job.
wonderful song...reminds me of Bob Dylan's 'Forever Young'
Part of the melody is exactly the same as " Changes . (1972 BlackSabbath). The verses to be exact.
nice song, very much reminds me of forever young by dylan
Ditto❤️x
Ode to Marty Whelan
Sounds exactly like Forever Young by Bob Dylan, even some of the lyrics.
I'm guessing this is for his pa since he was a boxer and died not too long ago
Sound exactly like Dylan's forever young
Yes I immediately thought the same. Still love it.
ooooh its that guy from the movie 'once'!
with mick hucknall on vocals
Tabs?? Anyone?
beacon theater....nyc....dec 1st....i'm there
beautiful!
Bob Dylan-esque. Great song
This sounds like a Bruce Springsteen song. And that's certainly not a bad thing!
constant and a loyal friend
Jeez!!! Does anyone come up with their own music anymore? Listen to John Prine "All The Best." I assure you this guy has!
sross66 It does sound inspired by Prine's "All the Best", but there's nothing wrong with that. There is no such thing as original music since jazz died.

sross66 its glen. we don't care :) :)
sross66 LOL You must really hate Bob Dylan then! Chord progressions and melodies have been adopted and reapplied by songwriters for years.
Song Of SuperGirl Episode 4
Seems to be a connection between Glen Hansard and DC. Arthur Darvill starred in Once.
Soooo....has no one else noticed that this is basically a re-write of "Forever Young" by Bob Dylan?
I'm pretty sure Glen was aware of that too. I really wonder how this song was sonically back when it was called 'Losing Streak'
swizzleberry1 Glen made an interesting remark about it on the Off Camera show with Sam Jones. Check it out :)
Potential of a major hit if only the bass and drums would wake up…also the video stinks…..Need a new agent….I’m just sayin.
come on people pls dont support bullshit like that a winning streak is not luck
