Thank you soooooo much for speaking on this Pastor Mark!! So many Christians underestimate the health of our temple given to us by God. It's so important to keep our physical health in shape just like spiritual health 🙏 ❤
I knew a pastor in our church who was a weight lifter, married, and 3 kids seemed to me as a preteen boy, it wasnt exactly a spiritual advantage. Everyone was always fawning over his physical attributes. I was right. He ended up getting the assistant pastors 17 year old daughter pregnant, around the same time those shenanigans were going on , the assistant pastor who had 2 daughters and of course was married, had an affair with his literal neighbors wife, The wife was a member of our church, always being friendly to "minister" in the hope of getting the husband saved. I'm more than just skeptical of this obsession church leaders seem to have with physical appearances. Its usually not of the Spirit but of flesh
@spudthegreaterusa8386 Pastor Mark clearly separate the difference here between being obsessed with the flesh and being starved in the spirit and vise versa. I'm sorry but if that Pastor is getting people pregnant he either made a grave mistake or he wasn't saved in the first place. The bible says to know if someone is saved based on their fruits. And those fruits he's producing are NOT from a saved individual. With that being said you're argument is completely ignorant and/or misguided. That's like saying I saw a pastor have a skin care routine and because of that skin care routine he started to sin. The fact of the matter is, we live in a fallen world and we all sin. Taking care of our temple is something that is encouraged in the bible. Treating you're body like crap is always frowed apon in the bible. This is the temple of God and the same amount of work we give it physically we should be giving it spiritual 10 fold. Jesus is always number ONE but health is 100% supposed to be up their on the list. There are people who work out everyday 7 days a week 365 days a year and are amazing men and women of God. Making that an argument is ridiculous in my personal opinion. Nobody said it would be a spiritual advantage but if you don't work out it will become a spiritual disadvantage. Correlation does not equal causation. Love ya ❤️
I was convicted by this a few days before watching this video- this sermon just inspired me to continue my weight loss, and fitness journey. God is good!! I was convicted to be prepared, and not be out of breath, just walking!! I pray we can all get our bodies in better shape, as I think we're going to need to be in good shape for what we'll be facing in the future. God Bless us all as we work towards better care of our temples!!😊
So important, thank you. I started watching you not long ago and you are so full of wisdom. I’m blessed and grateful God brought me to your channel. One prayer I always pray is Lord bring the right teachers in my life. 🙏
For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:8 Exercise/Fitness is important for the believer pertaining to physical health. Godliness is number 1 priority which is your spiritual health. However, you can’t throw out baby with the bath water because Paul the apostle said it has (some value).
2 Corinthians 4:7-10 (NIV) 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. Gluttony is my worst enemy and it leads me to laziness. I started walking again a week ago with the better Fall weather and plan to return to IF. Many things can play a role in stinking thinking; but as I age, I can see that if I don't get my proverbial act together, I'm going to be in a world of hurt all the way around -- mind, body and soul. Cheers everyone - we got this!
First comment! 😂 I definitely don’t get enough sleep and I get even less sleep if I wake up early before work to exercise. I always wondered how much sleep Jesus got and also listening to Matt Chandler it seemed like I didn’t need that much sleep. I wondered what God thought about how much sleep a man should get. I’ve come to the conclusion that I should get as much sleep as I can while not letting my sleep sacrifice time with my family, time in prayer, time reading my Bible, and time exercising. I definitely should cut out the unnecessary phone time before bed though. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!
Exercise at the end of the day. If you watch yt as your phone time before bed now then watch those while you workout so your transition into working out is easier. It won't take long for you to crave it daily. If you're an average person then get about 8 hours of sleep. I need 9 hours of sleep. Some people are different but respect the average recommendation if you have no reason to think you'd need more or aren't impacted by less. People used to sleep when it was dark and wake up when it was light with a couple hours lie down in the middle of the day. A channel called HealthyGamerGG can give you further insights into how our modern habits influence our energy and emotional imbalance and immaturities. If you type in HealthyGamerGG always tired a few of his videos should pop up. There's one specifically which talks about how our phone time has replaced the passive emotional processing humans used to do naturally just from repetitive manual labor and taking walks. Automation of repetitive tasks has removed a very important tool for processing events and emotions, which causes a damning effect and causes mental and emotional exhaustion in weight our ancestors didn't carry because the natural patterns of their lives worked to their benefit in processing and healing emotional pain. So working out won't only tire you out in a healthy way and prepare you better for sleep, but it can also give your body the physical ability to start parsing out years of emotional backlog subconsciously. Truthfully you just have to actually do the thing. You have the information you need and you have access to information you don't currently have: you just have to choose that it's time. There's another channel called Meaningwave where a man creates lo-fi tracks from lectures, speeches, and interviews. Those might help clear out inhibitions. Typing in "Meaningwave discipline" or "Meaningwave jocko" will probably get you there. Good luck Edit: and congratulations on first 😂🎉
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (NKJV) Striving for a Crown Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
I would say so...if you cannot control it by saying no or regulating it then yes, i had a food problem over the weekends but exercise helped me to make better decisions and ofcourse the power of Holy Spirit
When we read the bible we can tell that choosing worldly vices like overeating, drinking excessively and smoking is fleshly and when you give into that stuff over surrendering to the Lord he certainly considers that sin. Anytime there is a warning of how damaging something is to us on a product and we just give way to that without care it really says a lot about how seriously we take our relationship with God. Ideally a Christian would mildly drink, eat healthy and would kick the bad habit of smoking a.s.a.p. I am not prepared to argue about this, I am just going to say that when you look at the bible you can tell that we are to follow Christ and Christ didn't demonstrate that we should be regulating our drug addictions and highs through our evil sin nature.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that physical fitness is more about morality than health. It is about both, but morality should always be the main concern, even over health. In other words, health is the prize for morality, but morality is not the prize for health. Think about Jane Fonda.
I don’t remember the scripture, but when you preach a man should not wear a hat. This is to honor God. When a woman preaches she should cover her head to honor her husband, and no women are not allowed to pastor.
Whether it is explicitly written out or not, neglecting your body and abusing your body is always a Sin! If it goes against what Jesus created you for, obviously it is a sin and we know better.
I think, out of the two groups of men, it overwhelmingly leans towards out of shape, fat, tittie not pecs, dad bod, emotional, beta males. Gym rats the ONLY care about image is kind of fringe inside the fitness world. Even so, id rather have 10x guys like that over the second group any day. I didnt understand the point of what the second group is good at anyways. That didnt make sense.

If I’m not at work or church I’m at the gym training ✝️💪
Keep doing the Reps and give all glory to God!
That physical health segment and how it hurts your mental / spiritual health is so true! Thank you for this video
Thank you for this… fitness trainer/nutrition coach for decades and would love to see believers in the Kingdom understand this🥰

Look at the men in your church how many are healthy and fit? We are spiritual beings in a physical body.

Thank you for this message, now out of all possible times to post.
Luckily my job is a built in gym. Which is great especially cuz when I get home, I'm too whooped for the gym.

So, would too much wine or cigarettes or food be gluttony? Which is a sin?
I would say so...if you cannot control it by saying no or regulating it then yes, i had a food problem over the weekends but exercise helped me to make better decisions and ofcourse the power of Holy Spirit
I conclude it falls into the category of covetousness.

I have the same problem. During the week no problem, but in the weekends I be eating like pac man.

HOWS my physical health? More flab than ab. More physical than healthy.
Whether it is explicitly written out or not, neglecting your body and abusing your body is always a Sin! If it goes against what Jesus created you for, obviously it is a sin and we know better.
Sin is the absence of love only to be corrected not punished. ( Jesus Christ)
Stop calling women "hot chicks" they are children of God whether or not they know it themselves.

Such an over generalization
God is pure guilty and its why I have no faith on him.
God isn't religious and doesn't need you to become one. All paths are valid however
Jesus is the only way to Heaven
