- Just a few more minutes on the Maxace Goliath gen 3 in SLD-Magic. I have totally fallen in love with this knife. It's everything you could hope for in an XL knife. Even the damn pocket clip is awesome.

Originally seen this knife on Metal Complex channel and ordered this exact combo last night. If I like it as much a I think I will the S90V will be ordered soon also.
I have to be perfectly honest with you....Earlier today, I was thinking the Goliath is looking like a real contender for "knife of the year, 2023" here at Baz on Blades. I know it is too big to appeal to everyone. But it is such a good big knife. I have carried mine every day since I got it. It has been a total pocket time dominator.

The g10 with SLD Magic. My other Magic knife has performed well, even if it's a Sanremnu.

Received today and after only 20 minutes I'm in total agreement in your review. I do have 1 thing I'm curious about. The San Mai type sandwiching is a tad bigger on one side. This means one side's line ends almost 1/4 inch closer to tip than other side.! side is 1/2 inch from tip, other is 5/8 from tip. Whats your impression on this. It's a beauty and I'm keeping, but it only took my 5 min to see. I assume it's a real bitch to get a straight San Mai line. All others are usually wavy, except my Katsu in ZDP-189. The clip is as good as you said. For 130, I'm carrying for a bit!
That's a little more "off" than my example, but I wouldn't sweat it as far as performance goes. All it takes is a thousanth of an inch different thickness of the cladding layers to cause that line to be off in the grind. It's a bigger deal the more expensive the knife is. And while it's not such a big deal at this price point, you are still the final say in whether it's good enough for you. If you aren't feeling it, then return and exchange. If it's not a big deal, then treat it as part of the knife's personality.
