The old man was in a plethora of television programs in the 70s, a true staple of black show business. Part of why I like the movie is the spot on casting. The brutha was a true staple.
This movie did a good job at character development, if you think about it miklo went from a naive, young man eager to join a street gang to becoming the shot caller. All by learning from all his closest friends and foes... ruthless like a young Paco, deception from popeye, and extortion like his work boss. In the end he used all those experiences to become el mero mero....
The song and dance of playing pawns against one another, Miklo became a master of working behind the scenes. Just like how he was the one to hold down Spider for Paco's _"VL"_ branding, he was always the guy symbolically behind the opposition, holding them down from their false perception of him. In the case of Spider, he thought Miklo was _"medicated"_ before they got jumped by Paco and Vato's Loco's crew, same with Bonefide when he thought Miklo was _"in over his head",_ and described him as a kid. These false perceptions of Miklo gave him the advantage of surprise in both equations. _"When you expect nothing and get everything? That's Destiny, homles."_
One of the best street gang movies ever. Top 5 easily. My mom loved this movie. My mom grew up in southeast California during the 50s and 60s I grew up in san diego during 70s and 80s. Both of us around the vato pochuco culture. We are white but family, friends, mostly hispanic. Pops was a mechanic who loved working on low riders and hotrods. The areas we lived weren't always the best so I was around Mexican gang lands so this resonates with me. This type of shit was where I lived who I knew.most of our friends families had a few members in gangs. One gang that was brutal in San diego was los locos.they had heavy ties to cartels and they didnt use guns. It was all about the knives bats crobars they were sneaky like that.

@@Сашаромисмерть wtf? I dont know what kind of Mexicans you are talking about, I was Born in Sonora Mexico and proud of it, the natives you are talking about are my Aztec natives, the only mixed with European that would be you.... so dont hate hommie!
@@victorolivares7676 it's true most if not all Mexicans are mixed lol
@4:41 Wallace is "HYWAAAHHHGH!" @5:06 Bonafide is like "Ohhh shit, this aint good!"
🌮 eatin’ madafawka, that never gets old.
The old man was in a plethora of television programs in the 70s, a true staple of black show business.
Part of why I like the movie is the spot on casting.
The brutha was a true staple.
One year after this Ving would emerge as one of the baddest MF’ers in Cinema history.
2:23 gets me every time
The "Bill Cosby" comments... 😂💀
Growing up in central California where they pick the grapes and the cantaloupes you get really in touch with all these vato movies Boulevard Nights😅😊
Damn Bonified went from Blood in blood out to chasing people in n out in 60 seconds
That's, "GONE in 60 Seconds".
He faked his death and turned his life around
Miklo went from licking ol Texas BBQ Al clean in the back of the kitchen to a free man to a Shot Caller.
He didnt actually licked big AL clean
Lmao Truth 🤣
Bona-fide looked tripped out when his soldier told him 'he got HIS kyte '..
I got some poison for a spider, but for tomorrow.

Ving Rhames does excellent voice over work especially for Arby’s Roast Beef. “We Have The Meats”
"Oh, you're the man now aren't ya..."
Iam a lil bitch!

Still can't believe Meklo ordered the hit!
He didn't want to do it. He just really felt/believed if La Onda waited, like Montana wanted, they would've definitely gotten killed.
Its what u do to save your other vatos! Imagine they wait miklo and onda wouldve been slaves
Is that true? I still don't understand who ordered the hit? Was it the whites or miklo?
@@wiifan222 miklo. To take over the Mexicans and have the blacks and whites go to war. They were going to take over the drug game.
