Really? Doesn't even sound like Vegeta. Sounds like some random guy on the street got shot rather than Super Saiyan Vegeta releasing all his energy in a giant blast. Even freakin' Krillin's scream sounded more intense. In general it's ridiculous how poorly Kai was done in every aspect of it.
+MasterRoshi69 I disagree about there being more emotion. Just watched the Kai versions of his speeches throughout this saga, and trying to like it, I don't think I've come across something so bad and cringy in a long time...
In my opinion, this is the way this scene was meant to be. The music. The voice acting. This made me shed tears from it's awesome beauty. Kai did this scene the best hands down.
I wasn't as much a fan of him saying "the key to beating you." I liked "I'm going to crush you and throw you to the wind." much more it fit Vegeta so much more. So that with Kai's improved audio would have been so much better to me.
As a die hard, stubborn fan of the original Funimation dub, the sheer beauty of this scene in Kai along with the music made me shed a lone tear. Especially when Piccolo said, "And sadly it will cost him his life."
tbh Vegeta's victory against Toppo was like "HEY DO YOU REMEMBER THIS YOU CRIED AT THAT MOMENT RIGHT" it didn't do it as a heart felt moment it did it so it can leach of your nostalgia
I like both Z and Kai Z: the Falconer music build hype and tension that Vegeta's sacrifice could kill Buu once and for all Kai: The music, the voice acting, and a great farewell to the proud saiyan prince
rare to find another person with the same opinion, Seems Dragon Ball Fans are just stupid and always has to say something is better than the other, both scenes are good in their own right.

it's too bad he's regressing in Super in both the manga and anime. something's gotta shock him into being the man he was in the Buu saga, or, even better, shock him into becoming the man he is in GT, because Vegeta's character writing in Super just isn't as good as Buu Saga or GT Vegeta
Vegeta even said in the DBS Manga that, as long as they weren't on earth, he was still a bad guy, which is not only way out of character for Vegeta, but just completely shit character writing overall
The best thing about this scene is that Krillan is there. Krillan is probably the only person on the planet who is still alive who truly, truly knows what this means. The monumental scale of this sacrifice.
God, this scene cemented my love for vegetas character. From the ruthless heartless proud saiyan prince to the noble anti hero that he is in this scene. Call me a Kai fanboy if you want but you can't tell me this scene didnt make you feel more emotional.
Oh, this makes the original dub look like a parody. Look at Sabat’s long yell of agony (albeit looped once or twice) that extends all the way to him being engulfed in the energy ball, and then look at his two short-ass yells in the original dub. It’s not even a comparison.
Vegeta's explosion right here is so fucking insane. I mean any super saiyan turning themselves into a bomb is insane but Vegeta is a ssj2... holy fuck. And buu still lives. Kinda gives you something to think about with regards to ssj3 Goku's power. Or Vegito's for that matter.
Angelus vegeta probably could have obliterated cell with a galick gun or final flash at this level as well. piccollo did say he was stronger than gohan when he was a ssj2 and fought cell.
Sakyo Sakho Vegetas final flash back in the Cell Saga was stated by Cell himself to be powerful enough to obliterate him if it made contact. The only reason Buu survived this was because of his regeneration. It's not a testament of power at all.
I actually like this music a lot. Faulconer (oddly) brought out the sadness that Vegeta must've felt, then switched it up with Vegeta's main theme "Hell's Bells" to give that extra OOMPH when he went out, but here... You can feel his pride. You feel Vegeta's truly proud of his son, of what he accomplished on Earth, his family and most importantly that he himself realised how far he had come in the end. You just feel he's proud that he actually gets to make the decision to give his life for something he really loves.
The final explosion is honestly really beautiful. That last shot of it, against the orange and purple sky, makes it look like a sun that’s setting: great symbolism for Vegeta’s death.
Right? When they do the flashback in TOP I️ pray they use that original line. Kai was better for the story telling and if you want to get someone into dbz you have them watch kai... but original dbz dub had some legendary lines that have been left out of kai. Shame.
On a musical level, this score hits HARD, man. Even if you don't think the music suits the moment (which I don't know why you would), you can't deny that this song taken at face value is incredible. Sumitomo is a legend, man. Beyond that, I love Sonny's scream as Krillin. That "Vegeta!" line was so damn impactful. Thought the narrator did a fine job as well, Sabat's Piccolo was really good, but let's address the elephant in the room. I think Sabat did EXCELLENT as Vegeta, but my only problem being that his audio seems to be too quite. Maybe it's the music being a bit too loud, but that's a nitpick at best. This was still a phenomenal performance from Sabat. I think the dialogue itself is still really good, still as accurate to the Japanese version as ever.
bulma, trunks I do this for you, and yes, even for you, kakarot >>>> goodbye to you all the funi version felt more of what Vegeta would say, he's the fucking prince he wouldn't be saying goodbye
BboyZoinks Do you even know what > this means? He means this version is better. Plus he says goodbye in the original Japanese and in the manga so jokes on you the prince of Saiyans did say that.
I could watch 1:31 to the end of the video on loop forever, something about this really felt like this was truly the end for Vegeta man. Makes me sad just thinking about it. The way Krillin shouts his name from the depths of his heart, the way Piccolo's in shock and then just takes it all in accepting what's happening before their eyes, and then one final scream from Vegeta... Plus the amazing music and narration, pure goosebumps man. I love this show to death.
Despite how much I love Bruce Faulconer, Norihito Sumitomo did a fucking beautiful job with the Soundtrack. It's elegant, beautiful, heartbreaking, and heroic, fitting for the Saiyan Prince.
A valiant warrior leaves our realm in a burst of light. He was royalty, a warrior, a friend, a husband, a father too. He was Vegeta, the king of all saiyans.
I feel this version of Vegeta's Final Atonement is emotionally very powerful. The way the lines are delivered by the actors is just great. The music score in this scene helps to emphasize the fact that Vegeta is making a sacrificial move, knowing the fact that he will be damned once dead but not caring about that at this point. The line delivery of his final farewell to his family and Goku just resonates well so well. But most of all, that soul chilling scream. The fact that the effects make it reverberate more, the way it is delivered, and the fact that it keeps going till the scene where Krillin and Piccolo are watching the Final Explosion is just perfect.
This ended the most nuanced and amazing arcs in the whole series. From the destroyer of planets, to a loving father and husband. From hatred of his greatest rival, to a moment of respect at the end. Farewell great warrior. His name was....Vegeta
I really feel like this scene was done so much more Justice in Kai. The bitter sweet music was perfect for this scene. It painted Vegeta as the greatest hero for the first and last (at the time) time
Reaper it's not badass what is badass about someone sacrificing themselves to kill a villain and then saying goodbye to his family and his rival/friend. Jeez do you people listen to yourself this moment is suppose to somber. Idc how much you like that hell bells theme IT DOESNT FIT.
Faulconer, your tracks, even rushed, hit home in plenty of moments and your soundtrack for Z for the most part is amazing *IN MY OPINION*.... But godamn this version hits home every single bit, the scream, the music, the voice acting. I love both the original Funi dub and Kai versions of DBZ because both have some good things about it. Some may have nostalgia for the original, while some like Kai better. Again, love them both for what they are. But this round goes to Kai.
The music, the scream, the final words, the narration; all of it made it feel 10x more emotional than the original. (Before I get attacked, I just want to say I still love the original, but in my opinion Kai approached this delivered this scene better.)
Man...this would give me sooooo much feels if death wasn't such a joke in dbz and this actually killed Buu, this was more like an excuse for Toryiama to shelf him until the 2nd half of the arc
always loved this. the scream the music the sacrifice all hit my heart always gets emotional really love vegetas growth as a character from a ruthless warrior to a hero with a heart he died for his friends & family
XgGamergX Agreed. Falconer tried to make epic techno with a huge explosion, but that's not what this scene was about. This scene was suppose to be heartfelt and emotional. Kai music is perfect.
Joe Swanson No. I just outgrew my edgy self and realized that a lot of Faulconer's score was mostly noise for the sake of it and reduced any tension in scenes. I didn't feel any emotion from hearing the Faulconer version of this scene (it felt unnecessary and tacked on) but this one makes me respect Vegeta and feel proud of him because the score here makes him look so noble.
I like Kai's more. In the original, Vegeta just goes "I'm going to crush you, and throw you into the wind" didn't make sense. Especially when it shows buu looking at himself confused. Other than for intimidated or just his last words, I didn't understand it. In Kai, Vegeta shows he understand's buu's weakness, and so when he tells buu his regeneration won't be possible after being completely obliterated made much more sense as to why buu looked surprised/scared.
while i enjoy this scene, the other scene makes perfect sense. "Some random guy who i have been kicking around like a rag doll just said he is gonna crush me?" Yeah no id be pretty confused. That or laughing
I remember watching this scene on the original Toonami back in the 90s/2000s and I still say this scene beats Z out of the water. The dialogue, the music, it's much more powerful.
Hard to believe at one time in my life I hated this guy and now hes sacrificing himself to save everyone. Now hes my favorite saiyan, doesnt matter if goku is stronger, Vegeta earned my respect
The original showcases the tragedy and badassery + resolve better, but this version highlights the nobility and beauty. I always thought those little diamond shaped particles coming off of him were really beautiful; some kind of representation of his pure life force, inherently beautiful but you know you're seeing it because Vegeta is actively preparing to give up his life energy, which is tragic.
My favorite part was before this, when he asked piccolo if when he dies if he will see Kakarot again someday. And piccolo tells him “no, where you’re going, you will never see goku again, you will cease to exist and your spirit will be reborn as something else” and vegeta just accepted that fate but was disappointed that he would not be able to battle goku again someday. In a way, his rivalry with goku gave his life purpose. It was what he lived for, and even in death he wanted it to be that way for eternity.
This is just me throwing stuff out there, but what if Vegeta did actually kill Majin Buu here, so that his sacrifice _actually_ meant something. But Babidi was still alive and when Bulma and the others summon Shenron to undo the damage, Babidi jumps in and wishes Buu back to life and that’s when Goku instant transmissions everyone to Kami’s Lookout. I think it would have been the ultimate “Oh look, Vegeta actually beat the arc’s main vill- PSYCHE!!!” It would have been an interesting fake out.
This is such a good moment. Vegeta sacrificing himself to protect his family, finally fighting for something other than his own power and pride. plus it just looks cool. Unfortunately it is entirely wasted by immediately bringing him back to life. Had it actually defeated Buu, or he had stayed dead longer, it would have had so much more impact.
“Farewell Tezuka, Miura, and yes even you… Toriyama.”
That was lovely
For me its, farewell miura, takahashi, and yes even you, toriyama sensei!

This is why Vegeta is my most favorite character. Because even if he has evil inside him, he will still fight for what he loves and what is his.
His name was.. Yamamoto.
Necro! I miss him too, bud. Sumitomo is good but not at the level of Yamamoto
TAG Warriors agreed.
But this score fits this scene quite nicely, I believe
Necro! Definitely. I love this theme, it's one of my favorites
A true -plagiarism- hero
Those lines 0:06 "And Sadly It'll cost him his life"...
OMG! So Perfect! So Damn Perfect!!... Love DB Kai
Despite how much I love Bruce Faulconer, Norihito Sumitomo did a fucking beautiful job with the Soundtrack. It's elegant, beautiful, heartbreaking, and heroic, fitting for the Saiyan Prince.
A truly dramatic and emotional completion of a characterarc. Love it. This dub is golden perfection.
His name was....Vegeta
when vegeta says: "goodbye to you all, Bulma, Trunks.. and yes even you Kakarot."
*i felt that*
Krillin's yelling Vegeta's name sounded awesome
Vegeta’s scream in this version gave me the chills but the music almost made me cry😖😢
And Krillin’s scream for Vegeta made it even more heartbreaking
"VEGETA NOOOO!!!"
"VEGETA YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSS!!!!"
And this is when he became my favorite character. His character development was well done and Sabbat really did an amazing job
I really feel like this scene was done so much more Justice in Kai. The bitter sweet music was perfect for this scene. It painted Vegeta as the greatest hero for the first and last (at the time) time
The music makes me sad lol
He will forever be the best antihero. GOAT🔥He and T800 were the only ones who made me cry because they are my heroes☝🏼🗡
Where men cried
This version is the best
Tony Fontaine Nope! Not for me. I like the badass vegeta theme more. Suites what an iron clad badass he is in my opinion.
CleanserOfNoobs but this scene isn't suppose to be badass...that theme just doesn't fit as much as you like may like it
the fuck are you talking about? going out in a blaze of glory is badass in my book and the theme from the original is vegetas badass theme
Reaper it's not badass what is badass about someone sacrificing themselves to kill a villain and then saying goodbye to his family and his rival/friend. Jeez do you people listen to yourself this moment is suppose to somber. Idc how much you like that hell bells theme IT DOESNT FIT.
Reaper also "the original" stop calling it that the dbz funi dub is not the original
And Chris knocks it out of the park again. Excellent re-dub!
Honestly i feel like dbz should've ended here with all the full blooded saiyans dying along with the villain of the saga
Just...two words
Fucking Beautiful!
The music, the scream, the final words, the narration; all of it made it feel 10x more emotional than the original.
(Before I get attacked, I just want to say I still love the original, but in my opinion Kai approached this delivered this scene better.)
TNF Gaming Yes.
This is a sacrifice that completed his 8 season are. The other was a massive attack that happened to kill him. Both are good, but this one is better
this scene actually reminds me of a certain person named Caesar
Yep, this one is MUCH better.
This one is much better
DBZ Music: Badass and Heroic
DBZK Music: Heartfelt and Tragic
RIP Akira Toriyama. Thank you for everything.
Goodbye to you all Bulma, Trunks, and yes, even you best buddy... VEGETA YEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!
Man...this would give me sooooo much feels if death wasn't such a joke in dbz and this actually killed Buu, this was more like an excuse for Toryiama to shelf him until the 2nd half of the arc
If Vegito Hadn't Fucked Around He'd Kill Buu's Ass
Blubber But his death was still for nothing, and would've had more impact if the blast claimed Buu's life.
Omega Pictures just like goku sacrificing himself to beat cell
If buu died here along with vegeta it will be one of best endings for a great character in anime history
always loved this. the scream the music the sacrifice all hit my heart always gets emotional really love vegetas growth as a character from a ruthless warrior to a hero with a heart he died for his friends & family
"This is farewell. Bulma... Trunks... and even you... BEST BUDDY."
VEGETA, NO!
@@toxicdemon1315 VEGETA, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“And sadly it will cost him his life.” That scene just kills me
1:33 my reaction when vegeta died
It honestly dont matter what version it is, imma always gets choked up when my favorite character from ANYTHING dies on screen, so sad
Tbh, I perfer Kai's music in this scene.
Joe Swanson Orchestral music is childish to you? May I remind you that Faulconer's score was specifically made to appeal to young prepubescent boys.
...Or this song is just used because it's more heroic. This isn't hard to figure out at all.
I didn't feel any emotion from hearing the Faulconer version of this scene (it felt unnecessary and tacked on) but this one makes me respect Vegeta and feel proud of him because the score here makes him look so noble.
oh god, an edgy DBZ who doesn't allow opinion
I like Kai's more.
In the original, Vegeta just goes "I'm going to crush you, and throw you into the wind" didn't make sense. Especially when it shows buu looking at himself confused. Other than for intimidated or just his last words, I didn't understand it.
In Kai, Vegeta shows he understand's buu's weakness, and so when he tells buu his regeneration won't be possible after being completely obliterated made much more sense as to why buu looked surprised/scared.
Exactly, It didn't make sense that Boo got shock & confuse when Vegeta said "I'm gonna crush you"
while i enjoy this scene, the other scene makes perfect sense. "Some random guy who i have been kicking around like a rag doll just said he is gonna crush me?" Yeah no id be pretty confused. That or laughing
I disagree. Him saying he knows how to defeat Buu doesn't really capture the love/hate that the original scene had.
I remember watching this scene on the original Toonami back in the 90s/2000s and I still say this scene beats Z out of the water. The dialogue, the music, it's much more powerful.
@@geneticprotocolwalter4772 Honestly... A lot of things are praised if they hace higher quality... Like a PC over a Ps4
All the screams got so much better in Kai
VEGETA NO!!!
VEGETA... YES!!!
If you know, you know.
TFS DBZ ABRIDGED 😂😂
Hard to believe at one time in my life I hated this guy and now hes sacrificing himself to save everyone. Now hes my favorite saiyan, doesnt matter if goku is stronger, Vegeta earned my respect
RIP Akira! 🐉🐉
I think it would have been the ultimate “Oh look, Vegeta actually beat the arc’s main vill- PSYCHE!!!” It would have been an interesting fake out.
mega sean I wish Vegeta woulda killed him. Even if your idea is the outcome.
Who came here after DBS Episode 131?
RIP Akira Toriyama
As a kid you like Trunks
As an adult, you respect Vegeta.
How to die like a fucking hero, this is how I wanna go- with a BANG.
Not gonna lie. When I watched this version of the scene I stood up and saluted my tv.
It's one scream the whole way through. If that's not enough to prove it's better. idk what is.
This is just incredible and heart warming. I love kai so much
Agree completly. This is the true Dragon Ball Z.
I honestly feel for the sagas before buu, they should have kept the original animation. The redrawn ones are jarring when shown.
You know there's character development when someone who wanted to kill you screams for you when you sacrifice yourself
Right? 😭
“Vegeta, no!”
“VEGETA…YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!”
Holy crap the Kai version is amazing. Way more heartfelt, and that musicccc.
