    I think TheMainManSWE is looking at it from a different perspective. You have to remember, our sus swedish man lives and breathes Tekken, so in Tekken 7, where execution was much harder and defensive options were much stronger, you had to be good at fundemental Tekken to rank up and get into those higher levels. And once you reached those, you had earned it.
    But now look at Tekken 8, the title that is less difficult to play and heat turns your character into a machine. All these mechanics have helped lower skilled players to bridge the gap with the veterans, to some extend, especially since the defensive options are weaker as well.
    So if you look at it from his perspective, since Tekken 7 was so much harder to play and master, his existing skillset allowed him to effortlessly outplay all his opponents, that were not nearly as skilled as he is in the game, meaning he had a much easier time to climb up the ranks and get God of Destruction.
    But now in Tekken 8, through all the added offensive systems that pretty much anyone can use, TheMainManSWE now has to work a lot harder to win his matches, because everyone else, that isn't necessarily on his level in terms of fundemental skill, has been buffed through the system changes in 8.
    That is why Tekken 8 feels easier for everyone else and harder for top players like him. Because everyone else got pushed closer to his level by default.
    I hope this explanation made sense to you, and of course I can not guarantee that this is exactly how he meant it, but it's the way I understood it from his video.

      I definitely agree too! I'm at Bushin level and I run into players at that rank, running into a few Tekken Kings and Tekken Emperors, who just play like absolute monkeys and they get away with it because of the system changes and the character BS. Mainly Jin and Victor players, that I see a lot of. Saying that, there's also really good players there, that I see, and I'm like "How are they not higher?!"

      You are right, but the problem is that TMM didn't phrase it like that. And I don't think he misspoke. I think he genuinely thinks it's the same for everybody. He even mentioned that some players he knew who were purple rank or whatever were having a harder time.
      Personally I think this debate is stupid since you're comparing a new game with a 7 year old game. Had they not remade the ranking system, then all of us would be 2 colors lower or so.

    As someone who played a lot of Smash back in the day and was fairly involved in the smash community, I would not tell anyone to get involved in that community. Its full of people who just suck up to the top brass, which is a giant circle jerk in of itself. Technicals' videos prove a bunch of this bs. The community will claim to "hold players accountable" but those same players will have pasts that they would condemn others for but hand wave it away. It soured my mood towards the community as a whole, the lack of accountability mixed with the victimhood complex and the want to be taken seriously is just laughable

    JDCR: He deserves compensation, or maybe a guaranteed spot in the top 24 at their next tournament as he would make it there anyway. I think it COULD be someone who pressed the home button as its tooooooo much of a coincidence that the button was pressed at that time as jdcr was about to win, also during the set, someone connected their pad. Seems too dodgy to be an accident.
    LEFFEN: I don't follow smash, never will. Ot considered a 'fighting game' in my eyes, and most peoples. More like a party game. Anyway, if leffen acts a certain way, he should be treated accordingly.
    MAIN MAN SWE: He's 100 percent right!!! I could get most characters to tgp a lot easier in t7 that t8. This is because in tekken 8, the heat system makes you have to block for longer and be way more wary, meaning if you block more often most likelyyou will be hit and guess wrong on a 50 50, and additionally the chip damage killing you while you're blocking makes t8 hardwr to defend. When a game is harder to defend, its harder to win. Anyone can attack, but defending for long periods of time against a heated opponent whos chipping damage off you makes it a much harder game. I could beat very high level players in t7 with characters i could barely use, not in t8 though lol. Also, look how much more the tournament players stress levels are in their faces. Take note of that next time you guys watch. No way have tourny players look as stressed in t7 than t8. I love t8 but wow, at very high levels it's a lot more stressful.

    • @pite9
      @pite9 3 месяца назад

    • @GTJD111
      @GTJD111 3 месяца назад +1

      @@pite9 i see where you're coming from but i meant T8 is harder...as when you're put on the defense, blocking punishes you with excess chip damage, and guessing wrong can really delete your whole life bar which makes t8 harder than t7 as you didnt have to deal with chip damage and the increase in receiving 50 50 mix ups.

  • @kylecairns2847
    @kylecairns2847 3 месяца назад +5

    To Mainman’s point; in my opinion, what side of the argument you fall on depends largely on whether you play a character that can take full advantage of T8’s system mechanics or not. This current build of Tekken 8, and those previous, still overtly rewards aggression. If you play a character with strong movement, stance mixups, built in evasion, plus frame tools and strong heat then you’re going to fare better than someone who doesn’t main a character that benefits in the same way.
    Think about it: not only are you playing a character who can’t use those tools themselves, you’re also queuing against characters that do. Contrastingly, if you do have a main that has most of, or all, those tools, it’s never been easier to run over people than it is in this game. Plus, you get to enjoy the occasional matchup where you queue against a Paul or a Bryan that can’t run over you the same way the top tiers can.
    In short, TMM plays Kaz, DVJ and Bryan to a higher standard than you so he thinks ranking is harder than it was. You play Feng, arguably a top three character, and you find it easier than it was. Both can be true.

    • @ThatPinkOtter
      @ThatPinkOtter 3 месяца назад +1

      I think TMM is on the money, but I also think that there's a huge difference between a TG Bryan, Asuka, Kazyua Paul and Steve and a TG Victor, Drag and Feng. Until 1.5 happens and characters that were left behind in terms of offensive bullshit are given better tools to run a more defensive gameplan characters like Kazuya will have to work significantly harder to achieve ranks than someone like Jin will.
      And just for the record, I play lots of FGs at a high casual-competitive level-- Casual in that I only do locals since traveling and taking time off work is just not in the cards for regionals. In T8 I play Asuka and am still bouncing between TG and TGS, but I've also played Tekken for ~15 years and have played Asuka for most of that time only swapping to Lidia when she came out in T7. The ONLY reason I bring this up is to make a point: It took me so much more time and effort to get that rank on Asuka than it did for me to do it on Drag, Jin and post-buff Zafina who I think is insane rn.
      Feng like Drag and Jin will 100% inflate your rank, you have a simple, effective gameplan that benefits from the newly implemented systems in T8 which can't be said about your Pauls, Asukas, Kazuyas, Bryans and Steves. The effort required to win a match is SIGNIFICNALTY lower than a character that struggles to run offense due to a lack of effective offensive tools. Some of these tools include plus on block armor crush heat engagers, plus on block WR2 that has chip damage and leads to multiple frametraps for full combo, fast and effective low pokes ESPECIALLY when they lead to big damage on CH and well basically plus on block bullshit with more bullshit frametraps that lead to 70+ damage. Bryan, Asuka, Kazuya and Paul have none of this, they're all traditional keepout or bait and punish in a game where that style of play is at an extreme disadvantage.
      There are plenty of very good characters that aren't used for lots of reasons. Feng's is he's boring/has no interesting gimmick and he's just a tiny bit harder than unga bunga WR2 frametrap Drag/Victor. Without any real appeal in terms of his kit all that's left is his effectiveness, and when you have to learn a little more on him than you do on two others who are just as good as him if not better, why would any casual player pick Feng?

I cant lie, sometimes it feels like theres a luck element to ranking up rather than actually improving at the game. I have been demoted 100 times in both Red and Purple. We’re all struggling in our own way, yelling at different characters that some of us might not see as a big deal. I’ll be real, Heat does make things easier to some degree. It’s like a burst of wildfire, but like all fires eventually it burns out. Eventually the game reverts back to that classic Tekken feeling you described and you have to rely on skill more.
    I’m also relatively new to Tekken so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Tekken 8 is easier than Tekken 7, but I don’t think Heat is that much of a crutch. It definitely helps, but it’s also been my worst enemy simply because I used it wrong. Basically, I got outplayed because of how I used Heat.
    I think now it is kind of a new learning curve that forces me to re-strategize how I play. In all honesty I like that about this game. It gives me a reason to return to the lab and discover new things, and I feel like a few fighting games really do that for me. But hey, I dunno any better. I've ranked 4 characters to flame ruler and my 2 main characters are Raijin and Fujin. The highest I got up to in Tekken 7 was eternal ruler and that was at the end of the Tekken 7 life cycle. It's much more frustrating but easier to rank up for sure

    Solid vid Mike. Though as a newcomer to Tekken I disagree with your dislike of the heat mechanic. Though I will say that the health recovery aspect of it needs to be hella nerfed. The aspects of it I like are access to a powerful single button "super", the "armor" aspect of the heat enchager, and access to variations of my move set. Lars main btw.

    I'm a new fighting game player, with Tekken 8 being my first real Tekken game (I played a little of T7 but never really learned it). I started playing around 1 month, maybe 2 months ago now? And I'm Fujin with Bryan. But when people talk about the rank system being easier in this game than the last one, isn't legacy Tekken experience really good to have going into the next Tekken game? I come from more of a hardcore FPS background, and picking up a new FPS game is always very, very easy for me to do well in compared to anything else. So, I'm curious about how much easier it is for people who have been playing Tekken for a long time to pick up the next Tekken game compared to those who don't play a lot of fighting games. I wouldn't imagine it would be that hard for a player to reach or even be above the rank they were before in the last game, especially from what I've been told about how little these games really change sometimes with characters and other mechanics. I'm mainly just really curious

      There is a lot of changes in T8 compared to previous tekken games that don't really give advantage to legacy players. One example I can give is in tekken 8 running your offense is much easier with moves that give frame advantage. In previous tekken games not every character had the ability to bully opponents like in tekken 8 so playing defensively was stronger. Being good at previous tekken meant that your defense was at a level that it was very hard for your opponent to open you up. That play style doesn't translate well in tekken 8 because the new mechanics make it so that you will get opened up regardless of how good you are defensively. To sum it up previous tekken was about who made the fewest mistakes wins, which favors legacy players. In tekken 8 the one who gets to start their offense first has the higher chance of winning which gives new players an even chance against legacy players.

      Legacy knowledge gives you a leg up on your competition for sure, but the heat system has flattened a lot of that out because it can stop a lot of things at the press of a button so skill becomes less of a factor.

    i typed in this comment on mainman video and im pasting it here
    he failed to mention the fact that "rank" acutally begins at fujin since fujin and above are the only ones that u lose point more than u win
    anyone can reach fujin with time
    since ranks that are lower than fujin gives u more point that u loses so in due time u will reach there without any problem
    and its not a "rank nflation" its more or less that anyone can pilot tekken 8 easliy more than previous games idk what u call it "skill infaltion?" lmao.
    what i mean is its way easier to be good at tekken in terms of tekken 8 standard but not the same at T7 u need a way demanding fundamental skills to reach a rank like fujin
    but in T8 u dont it require less
    also keep in mind that from region to region skills differ
    in NA a tekken king equals someone like fujin in europe
    in terms of inflation i think NA has that lmao

    I honestly agree with tmm that people were blowing the whole rank is easier in tekken 8 out of proportion it’s easier with powerful characters but in general it’s not in T7 there’s a certain amount of points gained n lost in each rank bracket n it basically stays the same until you go to the next set of ranks on top of there being 2 more ranks in each bracket but in tekken 8 its honestly like gambling when you make it to red ranks and up because you lose more points if your in a losing streak on top of if the persons rank is high or lower than you but you also gain way more on a streak beating higher ranks than you but problem is that streak can be lost mid set so lets say you win lose then won in the set all your getting is the points back from the points you lost and back to square one and on top of that all the casuals are gone now so the people climbing up are the die hard fans that stuck around to get stronger mostly and the system in T8 is made to grant mercy for the lower rank because if the rules that applies to red ranks and above were for every single tier I’m pretty sure new people would be way more discouraged to pick up and learn the game

    really excelled in Tekken Tag 2 because I put a lot of effort into understanding the game's nuances. My wild, unorthodox style often caught people off guard, and many players didn't appreciate it.
    With Tekken 7 returning to 1 vs 1 matches, the focus shifted back to fundamentals. You needed solid basics and couldn't get away with mashing. I didn't enjoy the game as much because the addition of 2D characters and new characters like Lidia, Leroy, and Fahkumram felt unbalanced to me.
    In Tekken 8, reaching the GOD rank was a struggle. The game simplified things too much, which took away some of the challenge I enjoyed. Although my mash style from the Tekken Tag 2 / Tekken 6 days helped me adapt, it was still incredibly tough to reach GOD!

    I think consensus is not a static concept and things can definitely shift .
    At the beginning of the game it was easier to rank up , because of all of the casual players . First couple of months on Tekken the steam count was like 50k a night . Now it’s like 10k. Who do you think remains ? The casuals it’s the sweats?
    But now that casuals are gone, and the change to prowess based match making, getting an alt character to Fujin is about the same amount of work as taking your Fujin main to Tekken King because you’re playing against the same players on thier alts now as you were playing in blue ranks .

    I've never seriously tried ranked in Tekken until T8. I only have around 120 matches and started from beginner. I'm currently at Shinryu, though I've barely been playing the game since launch month. Before, I only played with my brother and hopped on player match/lobbies. But I kinda get his argument in a sense, but I don't at the same time. Tekken is constantly getting easier, more players are coming in, people are getting better, and information is more available these days. Connect the dots. The skill ceiling came down, so naturally the top players would also be dragged down. I'd say it's a mixture of the T8 being harder and easier at the same time.

  • @ThatPinkOtter
    @ThatPinkOtter 3 месяца назад

    One reason people struggled in TT2 and T6 has a lot to do with FGs having much more accessible information and them being much more understood than they were in TT2 and T6 days. Another is that you've also played the game for over 15 years, of course you're going to have an easier time ranking up.
    It was easier for me to get TGS in T8 than it was for me in T7, I didn't make it that far in T6 either. I also sucked at FGs when I played T6. I was bad at ArcSys titles when I played BBCT, but by time GGXrd and BBCF were out I had no issue getting into higher ranks, and with DNF's release I made it to Deity 10 within the first 2 weeks on the 'worst' character. It was 10 years of learning skills that benefitted me in other similar titles. New players to fighting games likely aren't going to be in Kishin, not unless they're extremely dedicated to learning. FG players that are new to Tekken can absolutely make it to Kishin though, it's the equivalent of someone going from Fortnite to Apex as opposed to Animal Crossing to Apex.

    My total Steam hours for T8 is 187 and highest rank so far is Kishin in a little over 3 and a half months. I think I developed faster in T8 because content creators made it so much easier to learning the game. Granted, T7 had some people doing tutorials as well, but there was a massive influx of newer players with T8 that getting help was much easier.

  • @emilianovalle95
    @emilianovalle95 3 месяца назад

    Tekken 8 is harder than 7, but not in the way many people think a game could be harder. A lot of people look at the reduction on execution, the nerf of back dash, and how the heat system simplefies offence and say that those things make the game easier than 7. Yes, it easier to attack like a mad man in 8, it's easier to just BS your way up the ranks until blue ranks, but that it's exactly what makes the game harder.
    Before, not everyone had acces to their characters BS beacuase of some execution barrier, and that BS wasn't as strong as it is in 8. But now, everyone has acces to it at all times, and the BS itself got more frustrating and powerful. This means that, in order to rise up to high ranks, you are forced to learn how to shut down that BS yes or yes, no other way around it, and because the BS is so strong now, you are not just facing some dumb gimmick, but a powerful gimmick that will kill you if you don't know how to stop it. And most of the time, the way to beat the BS is by knowing the match up, playing solid, finding patterns and exploit weaknesses in your opponent's fundamentals. No other way around if you really want to get actually good at this game.
    I think that the people that find T8 easier than 7 are actually the kind of player that played exactly the same in both games. In 7, character BS was weak and easily shut down by just blocking and doing nothing because most of that BS where counter hit launchers and set ups. Remember that T7 was a defensive game because if you pressed buttons too much, you would explode and die after a random counter hit or low parry. Now, that is not really happening anymore so players that based their entire game plan after their characters BS (which is most people to be honest) have an easier time stealing wins. Players that did not pose a real threat before, are now a real threat (specially if they are playing a top tier), and so, in order to get to high ranks in this game you need to be really good at stopping BS by playing real tekken and using your head instead of just doing 1 thing and stealing wins out of people who dont know the match up.
    That's why only a 0.01 percent of the 2 million people that bougth T8 have made it to God of Destruction. That's why even really really good players like main man, PhiDX, or even JDCR had a really hard time getting to GOD where as in T7 it only took them like a couple of hours. You need to be really good at core tekken to stop the BS of this game. Hence, Red, Purple and Blue ranks are infested by people that spam set ups and knowledge checks and nothing else, but the people at Tekken King onwards are only the people that play real tekken and can overcome the excessive BS of this gama with skill and mastery of Tekken.
    Also, i beleave that the reason why you say that ranking up in this game took you less time that in T7 is because you just got better at the game. you didn't had to learn the game all over again, a lot of skill gets transfered from game to game and then you continue to grow. it's just natural groth that you got to a higher rank this time around. Keep it up and you might reach GOD!

In T8, there are many people, very bad at defense, are tekken king and above. T8 values attacking more than defensing. Huge chip damage and 50/50 casino in T8. There is no chance for me to beat pro players like Shadow20z, Joel Fury (I met them quite often online) is T7, but in T8 I can beat them if luck is at my side.

Then he got over it, but he didn't really progress till season 3 of Tekken 7, maybe towards the end of season 2.
    I think Tekken 8 is easier because of the heat system depending on how good you were in 7. I got Tekken King in 2 in a half months of Tekken 8. I got Tekken King in season 3 of Tekken 7.
    Also, there are fewer ranks in Tekken 8 and a different point system. That may play a part in getting higher ranks easier in Tekken 8. Plus, blocking people and rage quitting helps some players, lol

    i think the reason its easier to rank up in T8 is also the same reason its harder. Rage art, heat smash/burst allow scrubby players to get constant plus frames, free damage, or just reset neutral completely. But you have to keep in mind you can also do the same scrubby things back to other players. Me being a new tekken player myself some characters are just generally better characters than others and the heat is just another plus on top for little timmy playing feng wei against a broken/nerfed kazuya.
    Kazuya has been my main since I picked up T8 and i struggled with him just now making it to mighty ruler as of last week. Paul being my second main I just made it to battle ruler as of today which was significantly easier even though he’s way higher rank than kazuya.

    Here's the thing about Tekken 7 and 8 difficulty comparison (i've made an youtube video as well explaining this). For literally 98% of players yes Tekken 8 is easier due to rank points distribution per match.
    In tekken 7 you have a favorable netgain of points until the last purple rank (about 10% which is tiny), after that the game is even, you win as much points as you lose, in which case you MUST have a positive win rato (50% +) to climb that goes up to Tekken God Prime at least.
    In tekken 8 the math is different, there's no point loss up to yellow ranks and up to red ranks the netgain is HUGE (where you gain WAY more points than you lose) in fact you can reach purple ranks in tekken 8 with a negative win rate (given enough time for that).
    But this is what makes it interesting, after blue ranks the netgain is actually increasingly negative, so is true that is definitely harder to get points in the top 2% of the ranks. Matches are harder, you win less points, you need more points (as the ranks are further apart) and therefore you NEED a way better winrate.
    WIth all that said, i must say i DON'T agree with TMM, you simply cannot say "tekken 8 is harder" based in data that clearly says that only 2% is in fact harder, and the other 98% are either even or WAAAAAAY easier than 7.
    People like his take on this because it serves as a justification for their bad performance. Let's say i'm stuck in RED ranks (in t8 where i was yellow at 7), than i see TMM saying the game is way harder, that makes me feel that i've improved so much but thats just an illusion that doesn't correlate with TMM's situation.

    I made it to emperor in like 2 months in this game, but the difference is really that I'm better here than I was when I started 7
    I do think this rank system is more punishing after blue ranks, but it's far easier for people to get to blues now
    also the balancing isn't as sound as it was in t7 after season 2, which may play a factor here
    for example, I have a friend who is new to combos and frames and ranked in general, but he made it to blues with law in a few months, the same friend is stuck in reds with bryan
    (I say season 2 because before then, t7 had a rank system so harsh people couldn't make it past red)

    Tekken 8 is harder and easier at the same time. From what I have observed is that at the beginning of Tekken 8 lots of people were ranking up very easily but now that pros and some hardcore tekken players are now adapting to Tekken 8s aggressive playstyle. People who got to the blue rank are now dropping back to the purple ranks or red ranks because people are learning the game. While it is true that Heat, Rage art will help new players a lot more but I think people forget that pros from older tekken games can also use it and when they master it. These people that rely on heat mechanics too much will fall off from the high ranks.
    Also what I have seen in blue ranks at least. Those that play hard characters like for example Kazuya, Bryan and DVJ are extremely lethal and good players. While easier characters like Dragunov, Viktors, Alisa and Feng players are kinda... well not so good. Not saying that all of them are bad but now that people are learning the game I have noticed a fall on these kinds of players from high ranks.
    I guess what is going on in ranked at the moment is: Easier time in low to mid ranks but way harder in higher ranks than in T7.
    If Tekken 7 was like chess where you can take your time then Tekken 8 is like speed chess where pros/beginners alike can make fatal mistakes in a few milliseconds and now some high level players are getting hang of it and deranking people from high ranks. I also think that when the defensive patch comes out the game is gonna change alot and some people will start falling in ranked.

    Great experiment with the Heat System. Sucks that there is not a feature to play without it because the worst parts about Tekken 8 is pertained to that system. Outside of the animations I would rank it as a disappointing mechanic.

    I got to Fujin only losing 4 times in purple ranks, but in 7 i was having an easy time in ranked on both ps4 and Xbox in red ranks, but i dropped the game before i hit any plateau, in 8 I don't know how high i could climb either. So I don't really know if it's harder or easier, (in fact i had more trouble in 8's red ranks than 7, that where i lost the majority of my games) but I will say it takes more wins per rank to rank up in 8 and I did fight high blue ranks in 7 that didn't know how to do a single combo they were usually using Alisa or Nina. So i don't know.

      tekken 8 ranked is much easier, for comparison tmm also said (which is quite a good comparison) that fujin in tekken 7 is tekken king/emperor in tekken 8, since some characters are busted and heat and rage are the way they are anyone can climb in tekken 8

      @@cloud4876 I think there is far more to it than that, i know a Kazuya player who was Emperor rank in 7 and is currently hard stuck at Battle Ruler. I think it's a bit more complicated than the higher ranks being a full colour grade higher than their Tekken 7 equivalent. Which is probably an attempt to ensure there is a good player pool in each area of ranked so you don't run out of players to play.
      I think the lower down ranks this is true, but once you start getting into blue it starts to level out with 7. I maybe wrong, but that's my take. I got a friend at Kishin who was Tekken King in 7 and he played all sorts of characters.

    I think TMM was implying that T8 is so much easier because it has more OP moves people can abuse, which make fighting frustrating, hence in every rank you have to be on your toes and if you do not have a sharp day, its just hard to rank up or even play.

    • @RealMikeHollow
      @RealMikeHollow  3 месяца назад +1

      That I could see a bit more. It's definitely much more frustrating because of the nature of the game and how ranked is set up. It's when he said the level is so much higher. I strongly disagree with that.

    • @YoungSweezy
      @YoungSweezy 3 месяца назад

      @@RealMikeHollow my feel is, that the game is much faster and dynamic than T7, the bullshit moves meta characters have just outperforms fundamentals and people are abusing that, because they wanna win, thats why many scrubs are in higher ranks, the best of 2 ranked system doesnt help it either and people just cancel rematch after they cheese you. The whole system is playing into the cards of toxic people. TMM was saying, that he basically smurfed any character from beginner to tekken god in few hours, because T7 was pure fundamentals and strategy and you could rematch same players how long both sides wanted, so he fought some determined individual and farmed on him several ranks, this is not an option anymore. In T7 i rematched alot and tried to learn the matchup, now i just lose 2 times in minute matches (or even 1 if dude just cancels rematch) and i am going to fight another character (and another cheese i dont have time to learn against.) So i dont even blame the players, the system is just made to outcheese everyone and move on.

    Tekken 8 ranked is harder in the sense that it's way easier to be scrubbed out by random shit. But I've also found it way easier to rank up in cause that point works in your favour as well cause ive best a lot of players who are clearly better than me just by sheer momentum. I think what it comes down to is the ranked systen itself. The numbers skew it heavily in your favour until the highest levels.

    I had a match with a TK King who was an asshole. Constantly would toggle easy controls to distract me when i launched him. He blew me out the water first match and to my surprise he accepted a rematch.
    I started creating space the moment he would engage heat. Bro was an entirely different player after he wasted his heat attack. I smacked him and he didn't rematch after that.
    Heat has to go for me to take this game serious again. They worked so hard and made an amazing practice system. Make players actually used

    i agree with you that jdcr got screwed and it's not fair, but the right thing to do really is to play it by the rules, and change the rules when nothing is in motion. if they could change the rules now to make it so that a commissioner decides if the round is replayed or not, that would make people get mad at the commissioner, but it would probably be more objectively fair than what is there now.
    now the worst common opinion is that you should leave it up to the players to decide what they want to do. players should not get to call their own shots on determining their own outcomes, and doing so would obviously open up players to colluding and peer pressure. worse, anyone who doesn't give up their advantage would get harassment for not wanting to deal with ambiguous situations. people who don't understand this probably don't look at what happens in other sports or they've never worked a serious job.

    Interesting how Tekken players opted out of the new mechanics, after DOA6 fell off a guy from the community modded the PC version to take away all the new stuff veterans hated. Well with T8 I feel the game is still really new and down the line patches and updates will make things more "reasonable".
      DOA6 got a lot of hate in the begining but they tried addressing it but then game was cancelled after its 1st year before the DLC slots on character select were even filled.
      So the DOA6++ mod was more a way to keep the game interesting with things going as far as re-adding moves from older games to help balance it out.

    Great topics this evening but the first one is the most interesting for me.
    I'd like to see some highlights from the matches without heat. As cool as playing default is and as much as the game was "balanced" around it, it isn't like that has to be the only valid way.
    (Heat in Tekken is mostly additive rather than infused into all of the core systems like Stun, Dashes, Defense, EX moves, Chip Damage like SF6 - so SF6 could become "better" in some ways with it removed but it would have severe implications besides being boring and barely SF. Rage Arts could also go without making a massive impact I assume.)
    Street Fighter recently got some bonus modes besides having version/speed/handicap select for decades. Tekken has had Ball on and off for ages besides items and gimmicky stages. Naruto GNTEX3 is actually better balanced with higher damage than default from what I can tell. Smash is definitely not the most fair competitively with default settings and you can also make it more fun with some thought.
    Smash Melee had a Single Button Mode back in 2001 which was probably excessive but still a funny challenge mode if people thought spamming special moves was excessive. Giant Melee is also a legitimate alternative meta.

    Ngl at First I liked the Heat System Cuz It was the first tekken I wanted to get good at
    300 hours later I Gotta admit the whole Game is too casual friendly
    I played a local fun tournament with my friends and I swear to Christ Even tho I was comboing ppl for 100 damage I still found myself sweating against casuals. Cuz it was just me dominating in the beginning and then getting oblitareted by heat smash, Rage art and like one single hworang string (mostly everybody played hwo, I played jin)
    Even tho I had only 1 loss it was still tiring and frustrating. Most of the time it’s more effective to do sum attacks and not do full combos cuz they just use heat and bumm almost full life. I mean t7 had rage Art and rage drive wich heat kinda is just withhout the skillfull inputs. The game should reward u for doing microdashes and combos and not to spam hb cuz they made such a nice animation for it😂

    I think TMM _forgot_ to take into account the fact that he achieved Tekken God with so many characters when the T7 meta was essentially fully discovered. T8 is still virtually brand new; on top of the fact that they both have extremely different battle systems. T8 rewarding mashers and plus frames while punishing patience and blocking.
