Congratulations on keeping a positive mindset during what appears to be a trying time, now that you mentioned it, our van awning could use a little support, me telling the awning that it's doing a good job and to hold up it's end, doesn't seem to be working.👍👍
Gday Bazz, you were randomly selected for the awning support! 🙂 send me an email at wildtouring1@gmail.com and I’ll organise posting it out to you mate 👍
This is why I can’t put $100k down on a “quality” van.. for most of us who work 5-6 days a week constantly talking to the dealer and taking the van back and fourth when you don’t live local.. couldn’t think of anything worse. Glad you guys have things sorted look forward to seeing your next trip!
Yeah totally hear where you are coming from! We’ve been saving up our list of warranty issues to form a longer list. Just not feasible to be going back to the dealer after every individual issue! 😫
All manufacturers are the same because the industry is unregulated and the skill of the workers and the QA of the manufacturers is very poor by other industry standards. What sets vans apart is how well the manufacturers back their products and customers. I think the Willow RV is a good product but the management of Willow have lost their way since covid and back up service went down the toilet over the last 12 months. It's slowly restoring but a lot of damage has been done to the brand. I have 2 Willows. One brand new for sale that I can't give away because of the negative publicity and one I travel full time in that's 18 months old and has never had any issues with it.
@@henrydipaolo4517 The Willow RV is a good product ? You must be on drugs and or work for that company. Backing up there products, Did you not see the unsealed undercarriage ? Anyone with a brain would know that was a problem. And paying that much should not mean you have to keep going back time and time and time again. The owner of the company should be shot. It deserves negative publicity.
An option for the floor vent, Make a mesh panel then fit air con filter material to it. This will filter what can get through it and create extra flow resistance to ensure the caravan can still pressurise the van, and serviceable.
Hey Cam and Tiff You guys rock, those problems would make most people angry and bitter, but you guys stay calm and composed, its a real testament to your character, well done Wild Family!
Nothing negative in there whatsoever! In fact considering everything you've been through I would call it extremely positive!! Having to bloody rewire the whole van is completely ridiculous but obviously necessary for peace of mind. I'd be interested to know the details and why it wasn't deemed necessary by the manufacturer but you felt it had to be done. I do understand why you didn't go into depth tho. Must have cost a good few grand. Gotta go the 300 👌👍😎 Just seen Tiavs exhaust install and I want some of those speakers for my 90 series Prado 😁😜 That just looks like too much fun to play with

Stop the dust get an electrical switchboard filter. By the way if that cable was undersized can’t believe the van company aren’t being prosecuted. Thanks for the video.
Glad you guys are happy with where it's at now. If you had your time again, would you opt for a different manufacturer? I'm kind of put off of Willow now 😬

To sort your dust issue with the hole in the floor. We use a pressurising fan which fits to the roof and pressurises the van to prevent dust ingress. Works a treat. Just remember though that at night with heater on, the roof fan will vent heat. To fix this we put Velcro around the fan housing and put a piece of ply (covered in cloth to make it nice) over it to prevent heat loss. When we start driving, we remove panel and start fan.

Thanks for the update. I admire you both for being incredibly calm about it. Sometimes I think you’re better off just fixing it yourself and moving on. Having said that as an electrician of 40 year’s experience and licensed in 3 states, wiring a caravan in 1.5mm for power is total BS. Willow caravans should be ashamed of themselves.

We loved your honesty with your van ! We have been to that van yard many times crawling over and sitting in in all the vans there as we are in the process of upgrading our van which is a 2003 heritage. We love all the new vans but have now decided to purchase a pre Covid van for that very reason. Glad you have got it all sorted and you are happy. Willow are a beautiful van. We would love that awning bracket 😊
Have to say, I admire your patience and tolerance. You are very Zen about the niggles of your van purchase and the corrective action process. I haven't heard of anyone who's recently purchased a new, high tech van getting it completely right from their pick up day. Annoying (and inconvenient) returns for warranted work seems to be the order of the day. I've formed the view that it's an industry ATD problem. However, I don't want to come across as negative and hope your once in a lifetime purchase experience hasn't been tarnished. I not sure I could cope (or react) as well as you! Best wishes for your coming trip. Looking forward to the videos.
Don't be shy, everyone needs to know the defects. Its not drama to give people info or have a winge. Wiring a complete van wow😮 Things that you need to keep your eyes out for. You call your selves novists 😅 but you know a hell of a lot more than most of us. Also not all dealers are happy to help. Thanks guys for your honesty
Cam and Tiff i really feel for you guys with all the problems you have had. I am horrified at you having to replace the electrical wiring at your own cost, luckly you have the money to do this a lot of people don`t. I have owned caravans since I was 19 years of age and I am now 67. I have owned numerous caravans both new and second hand vans and never had problems with new caravans purchased. Sadly the state of the caravan industry at present is not a good one with people reporting all kinds of faults and manufacturers and dealers not doing the right thing to repair or replace defective caravans. I have friends that their new vans are lemons because of serious water leaks and other faults and have battled to get them repaired. I personally have found buying a good second hand caravan a better proposition for us. We purchased a 2011 24 foot Traveller caravan that was custom built for a couple and the van was immaculate and well kept no leaks and free from faults at the fraction of the price of a new one.
High guys just wanted to touch base after watching your video to say we just feel as if we are in the same space as you guys. We love our van now but the initial hand over and first six months were very similar to yours. Water leaking at washing machine, water ingress through jmould and parking lights, cupboard latches not staying. Our big issue was the water ingress through jmould into bedroom windows. After lots of e-mails, unanswered calls, and no van for about six weeks we are in a much better place. So now same as you guys happy with our layout happy with how she tows and just enjoying it. Safe travels if you make it to Queensland would love a catch up.
Some good information. I'm looking to upgrade to a new van. You have prompted me to determine 240v regulations and ask manufacturers about wire diameters, etc, to ensure I don't have any issues.
Wow that’s a lot of issues, can’t believe you handled do well .. but then again off camera !! 😀 I just wouldn’t put up with all that and not seek some form of compensation. It’s brand new, stuff like that shouldn’t happen and people need to push back and not just semi except it as normal for a new product. I’m wondering what’s going to fall apart when you hit the dirt. I hope it all goes well for you. Thanks for your straight forward honesty, I’m sure it helps a lot of people.
For the hole in the floor, put the flyscreen back in and then use marine air filter sponge to fill the hole. Should help filter all the dust but not be sealed in so gas can still aerate.
Haha Brodie’s really finding his cheeky side 😆 Nice vid and van update, always good to see the little mods others make to their vans. I only realised this week how those awning supports work…I thought ours had been installed too low (or was for hanging naughty children from), until I realised it pivots with the awning 🤦♂️
You guys have every right to feel salty about having sub par support for non trivial issues on a brand new van costing mega bux. Build defects happen, it is that follow up support that sets the manufacturer apart. Will be really interested to hear more on how you get on with your 24V system. I'll be looking to do something similar with our next van as the voltage sag on 12v with high draw loads isn't ideal.
I know how you feel regarding caravan, ours is just 3 years old and 3 months ago found the the ply roof above bed had cracked from water slowly leaking in where they hadn’t siliconed around aerial property. Ours was pre Covid too. We spend a lot of money on caravans and there’s just no regulations so we can come back to the manufacturer and hold them responsible. Ours is a different brand too, so it’s across all brands people are being caught out. Sorry about my long whinge. Keep up the good content
Thanks for the offer of the awning support… I would love it please. I need one for my van before we do the Gibb in June / July + the GCR on the way home to Perth. Great channel. Cheers.
Would love to be in the running for the awning support contraption for our brand new van! Really enjoyed your video, all these upgrades and tips are very useful :)
Love watching you guys! You’re so natural and always up to answering questions! Would love to be in the running for the awning support thingo 😂 that you’re giving away. Thanks guys
We bought a year old caravan just before covid happened and haven't had one issue. That's terrible that you have had so many issues with the van. Hopefully everything is fixed now. We would love the Aussie awning bracket.
Hi guy,'s its a while since I have seen your site, but good to know you are now mostly sorted. I couldn't help but notice the Jayco Silverline similar to ours at the inlaws place,if they have had a dream run with their van as we have ( ours is over seven years old, we bought in new) you may be getting a bit of I told you so from them, and did you see their mirror in the ensue CHEERS
Great episode Guys 👍👍👍Having an older van ( 2015 ) I was thinking of getting the inverter hard wired into our van, I didn't even think about the wire size, food for thought, i'm going to have to check now 🤔🤔🤔 Cheers for sharing, keep the awesomeness coming 👍👍👍 Cheers Andy 🍺🍺🍺
Well done guys on keeping positive about the van (and not kicking Willow to the kerb). Definitely not easy given the expectation and excitement that comes with a new van of considerable capital investment while experiencing ongoing issues and faults, minor or not. I can only imagine the roller coaster experience of getting (or not getting as it seems) outcomes with manufacturer/dealer support.
I’d love the awning roller… just realized that’s just the thing that would solve the sag in the middle of ours!!! You guys are amazingly level about all the issues… maybe you could try create a flap in that hole kind of like a dog door with light magnets across the bottom to auto locate /close it ?
I’m laughing because I’m watching this whilst cleaning our house for sale before we leave. I just pinged my finger pulling a hook off a cupboard. I have more to do, so will be going with the two handed approach. I’ll get hubby to watch this because he’s got to fit the stone stomper when it eventually gets here. We are getting ants and cockroaches in the van, so goodness knows how to deal with that. We have so much to install and have installed before we leave. Same with the new car.
G'day guys we to have had troubles with our Snowy caravan. Love the mods use have done. I would love one of those caravan awning supports bloody good idea.
@Wild Touring We are still waiting on the block out blind for the skylight to be fixed. We need to change the mirror in the bathroom as it's roof to floor and you can watch yourself on the toilet 😆 🤣.
We love the mods of your van because we have got the same one. If you have still got the spare awning support, we would love it for our willow and hope to catch yas somewhere on the road
That cutting board that Tiff bought for on top of the stove. What about that stick on foam seals from Bunnings, comes in various width and thickness. That may protect the glas top on the stove
Oh wow, that wiring was far too thin I really don't understand how they got away with that also that massive hole in the floor . Ours doesn't have a hole like that. Ours came with the central awning @ 18ft. Yes we had problems that were resolved with the dealer but leaky hoses etc are unacceptable. Glad that u are happy with it now , There's always something to do with them Great video
Oh we would love an awning support if fortunate enough to be chosen 😊😊 It would have been perfect for our trip down the Tanami last year, but it may help on the Birdsville Track later this year 😊
We have had some issues with our van as well. Its a shame but put it all behind you and keep on staying positive. Would love the aussie traveller bracket. Good Aussie company
Hi guys we have the same cupboard and draw latches as you, I had to order 10 of them, they are not really smooth when opening but I have spares now, cheers guys have fun Phil and Kerry
Hey Cam and team. Nice vid. We have same van and have had a few water issues with pex pipe not seated fully into fittings. Seems most are now resolved. One pipe had scoring may from pulling through floor and fitting wouldn’t seal. All fixed by warranty. Have large lithium setup as well and works fine. Also queried wiring setup and I am an electrician, and it is legal as far as I can tell. Maybe would have been ‘nicer’ to use 2.5mm but all ok when protected with 16A breaker/RCD. Haven’t seen too much dust through that vent under bed yet! Will watch though. That support for awning is on my list as well, just saying!:) Waiting for our stone stomper to arrive as well. Also have that cutting board for the stove, did modify slightly to fit better, it’s not solid so careful if you cut it. All the best.

Probably a good move as the first owner will most likely have fixed up lots of the little issues, made improvements etc! 🙂
For the massive hole, maybe make a timber frame and cut your old (car) air filter to fit it 🤔👍👍👍
Cheers for the suggestion!
Awesome vdo as always, that awning support would be great for our van, hint hint. Keep up the great content 👏 👌 👍
Thank you! Probably why this video came out 8 months later. We’ve had time to calm down and move on now 🙂
I would love the awening bracket please. Keep the vids coming 👍🏻
Good vid guys, be great to get your spare awning support
Thanks, Adrian
Don't be shy, everyone needs to know the defects.
Its not drama to give people info or have a winge.
Wiring a complete van wow😮
Things that you need to keep your eyes out for.
You call your selves novists 😅 but you know a hell of a lot more than most of us.
Also not all dealers are happy to help.
Thanks guys for your honesty
Appreciate the support Rhonda 👍
Is this Willow RV as well?
Is yours a willow also??
Really sorry to hear that 🙁 fingers crossed for no more water ingress! Happy travels!
I just wouldn’t put up with all that and not seek some form of compensation.
Sorry to hear about your dramas Gary, hopefully you can sort it out without too much pain to the hip pocket!
Thanks for the offer of the awning support… I would love it please. I need one for my van before we do the Gibb in June / July + the GCR on the way home to Perth. Great channel. Cheers.
Thanks for the honest content.
We would love the awning support for our renovated 20ft 1975 viscount
Awning support, would love it. Cheers guys
Would love to be in the running for the awning support contraption for our brand new van! Really enjoyed your video, all these upgrades and tips are very useful :)
We've just picked up our new van and heading up to the Gibb in June. The awning support would come in handy for our Aussie Traveller awning.
Hi Cam, an option for the floor might be fit an automotive air filter to the top, stop the dust and allow airflow.
Thanks for sharing 👍 Greetings from south africa 🇿🇦
Love watching you guys! You’re so natural and always up to answering questions!
Would love to be in the running for the awning support thingo 😂 that you’re giving away.
Thanks guys
We bought a year old caravan just before covid happened and haven't had one issue. That's terrible that you have had so many issues with the van. Hopefully everything is fixed now. We would love the Aussie awning bracket.
Not a bad idea buying second hand I reckon! There’s teething problems and the first owner has usually had time to sort them out 🙂
Hi guy,'s its a while since I have seen your site, but good to know you are now mostly sorted. I couldn't help but notice the Jayco Silverline similar to ours at the inlaws place,if they have had a dream run with their van as we have ( ours is over seven years old, we bought in new) you may be getting a bit of I told you so from them, and did you see their mirror in the ensue CHEERS
Great episode Guys 👍👍👍Having an older van ( 2015 ) I was thinking of getting the inverter hard wired into our van, I didn't even think about the wire size, food for thought, i'm going to have to check now 🤔🤔🤔
Cheers for sharing, keep the awesomeness coming 👍👍👍
Cheers Andy 🍺🍺🍺
Cheers Andy, yeah might be worth a look!
Minor is a understatement, full rewire at own expense ,I’ll being staying well away from that brand ,so hard for decent workmanship these days
@@danielhill136 absolutely, to be that calm about it, though it seems they've had time to process it. Not a good look for willow rv at all.
Cheers mate, yeah we’ve had 8 months to calm down! 😄
We just bought a caravan and would love one!
I’d love the awning roller… just realized that’s just the thing that would solve the sag in the middle of ours!!!
You guys are amazingly level about all the issues… maybe you could try create a flap in that hole kind of like a dog door with light magnets across the bottom to auto locate /close it ?
Hi make like a fly screen frame but put a filter fabric in it. I made on for a roof hatch and I put like a vacuum cleaner filter in it works a treat.
Hope you’ve managed to sort your issues! 😞
Luv the awning support, we start our half lap June 18th. Can’t wait… Travis
That cutting board that Tiff bought for on top of the stove. What about that stick on foam seals from Bunnings, comes in various width and thickness. That may protect the glas top on the stove
Thanks for the update would love the awning bracket
Oh wow, that wiring was far too thin I really don't understand how they got away with that also that massive hole in the floor . Ours doesn't have a hole like that. Ours came with the central awning @ 18ft.
Yes we had problems that were resolved with the dealer but leaky hoses etc are unacceptable.
Glad that u are happy with it now , There's always something to do with them
Great video
Like your positive attitude despite the issues...
Thanks Cath, plenty more we could have said but onward and upwards 😊
Hey. I put non-slip matting under my ikea chopping board and remove the board onto the bed when travelling. Very handy✔️
Good idea 🙂
Oh we would love an awning support if fortunate enough to be chosen 😊😊 It would have been perfect for our trip down the Tanami last year, but it may help on the Birdsville Track later this year 😊
Hey Cam. Good content as always. On your neon Patrons backdrop .... that should be Patreons 😉
Cheers mate, Patreon refers to subscribers as Patrons - so I'm just running with that!
I would be peeved tbh. Thats just crazy man
On our IKEA chopping board we used clear rubber round stick on pad ‘things’. Has never moved. Hope this helps 😁
Thanks for the suggestion!
We have had some issues with our van as well. Its a shame but put it all behind you and keep on staying positive. Would love the aussie traveller bracket. Good Aussie company
Sorry to mate, hope you’ve managed to get them sorted!
Hi guys we have the same cupboard and draw latches as you, I had to order 10 of them, they are not really smooth when opening but I have spares now, cheers guys have fun Phil and Kerry
Yeah we’ve found a few to be quite sticky! And yet some in the really high traffic areas work perfect! 🤷♂️
Y62 Cam 👌🏻
If those hose fittings are John Guest I would be buying a bunch of the red locking clips or u might be dealing with another leaking fitting.
Cheers. We‘ll be getting the dealer to fit the clips next time it goes in for warranty work.
We’d love an awning support! Happy to pay for postage. Cheers for the vid
Cheers mate!
That support for awning is on my list as well, just saying!:)
Waiting for our stone stomper to arrive as well. Also have that cutting board for the stove, did modify slightly to fit better, it’s not solid so careful if you cut it. All the best.
Cheers Greg! Appreciate the feedback 🙂
