    I still use mine for Zoom calls and occasional doc shots. It works EVERY TIME, is super easy to operate, and I love the hardware buttons. My big 4k/6k Sonys are nice, but this camera has a special place in my heart, LOL.

    From another forum, I posted this: "shot over 70 TV spots last two years, I would say that 35 were shot with the Canon C100 (with an atomos ninja v) cinema lenses, etc. I know that in two or three instances the footage was bumped to 4K, ALL CLIENTS and AGENCIES were very happy. If you have one KEEP IT, this camera will be like the ARRI SR 16mm, a legend."

      Thank you, I appreciate it! Congrats on the camera! My biggest tip if you just got the camera is to get familiar with the button layout and menu system. It's an amazing camera for a 1 man crew but there are a ton of buttons and it can seem a little overwhelming at first, but once you get used to where everything is, I think it's one of the best layouts for a camera there is.

    The footage off the C100 mk ii really is good, grading is easy and the files are so small (a little weak on the color with super wide shots) 4.2.0 8 bit just muddies out a little in some wide shots. I upgraded to a C300 mk ii but keeping the C100s as B roll cameras and for interviews, the skin tones are great!!

      It's interesting you mention that - I find the closeup shots with the C100 M2 shine, while the wides just don't have the same "punch" - unfortunately makes you aware of this great camera's limitations-

    Great review, I've shot on the c300, fs7(x6+9) and still prefer the form factor of these c series cinema cameras. My personal cameras outside of work are currently the 80d & 90d, I'm seriously considering making the investment in a c100 mk2 to get that log worflow on my personal gear 👌
    One thing I'd love to try though is a ninja v on the 90d as the potential for wide DR raw there is great but not something I've seen taken advantage of a lot on RUclips, a potential video idea there 😉

      The C100 does so many things right it just leaves you asking "why couldn't you give us 4K in this package Canon"?!

    • @stevengreaves639
      @stevengreaves639 2 года назад

      @@Sutterjack that's the thing, if you want the 4k workflow in that case series build you've gotta go to the c200 which for a lot of prosumer/ entry level videographers is just out of the price range.
      I'd love to see a modern c100 revision with a native 4k s35 sensor for full sensor read out. Aimed towards the entry level market to make the c log work flow accessible.
      Like the r7 looks great but then you've gotta shell out on rigging it up

      @Sutterjack 2 года назад +1

      @@stevengreaves639 The C200 disappointed me - should have been 4.2.2 and 10 bit!! WTF Canon - this camera ain't cheap and doesn't give you enough - I guess the C70 is the only "intermediate" cine camera Canon is going to give us - still pricey and lacking some EVF and some other things important to me.

    Photographer for 45 years here. Not really much of a videographer, but I saw one of these at a garage sale, in what I considered excellent condition, for $700 bucks a few months ago. I did a little look up online and saw they are still selling for ~1500, despite the age. I talked the owner to $600 and grabbed it. And I love the video that comes out of this camera. Yeah, it only outputs 1080, but it's a fine 1080. And the built in ND filters are awesome. I have plenty of other cameras that shoot video (Canon 1DX, 6D2, 5D4, R6, and a Fujifilm XT-3) but I love the features of the C100-2. I almost always have my Sigma 34mm 1.4 ART on it, and the results are just crazy good.

    • @ScooterMediaVideos
      @ScooterMediaVideos  2 года назад +1

      Wow, that's a steal!!! It really is some of the best looking 1080 out there. I'm also a huge fan of the Sigma Art lenses and still use my 18-35 f1.8 all the time.

    Hi bro, Great!! is amazing
    I have two options to buy a Sony A7III or a Canon C100 II at the same price, I ask about sharpness, dynamic range and colors, and is the quality of Canon FHD really comparable to 4K

    • @ScooterMediaVideos
      @ScooterMediaVideos  2 года назад +1

      The 4K out of the Sony will definitely be sharper then the HD from the Canon. I believe the Sony shoots in 10 bit as well where as the Canon is only 8 bit. The Sony probably has a little bit better dynamic range as well. Where the Canon shines is the colors and the image out of the Canon cinema camera looks better but it is only hd.

      I don't have any experience with the Sony NX80 but my first question would be...do you want or need 4k? The Sony shoots in 4k and the Canon does not. The other big thing is that the Sony has a fixed lens that cannot be changed, while the Canon allows you to change the lenses.

      One of the best things for me is the handle, it rotates to keep a neutral grip, the joy stick operates everything the finger wheel doesn't, allows you to keep your hands in "shooting " position at all times. My c70 does not have the handle, and the c300 MKii does not have the joystick control.

    I'm confused by your review that this camera does not shoot 60p. The BH specs say: Multiple Recording Modes and Frame Rates
    The EOS C100 supports AVCHD bit rates up to 24Mbps (LPCM) at a maximum resolution of 1920x1080. Frame rates of 60i, 50i, 24p, 25p, PF30, and PF24 are all available to meet the needs of your production workflow. In addition, the 60i frame rate offers reduced rolling shutter artifacts. I was thinking that the 60i would be good enough. Thoughts?
    I too love to shoot all b-roll in 60fps. And yes i love the ND feature as well. I also agree that the xlr inputs are challenging. My budget is 1500... what other camera would you recommend that has 60fps?

      Hello, I'm a little confused by your question...the C100 Mark II shoots in 24, 30 and 60 fps with the NTSC version that you would find in North America and the PAL version will shoot in 25 and 50 fps in Europe etc. It is a fantastic camera with great audio, built-in ND Filters, etc...but it only shoots in HD, there is no 4K.

      You are confusing the mark 1 with the mark 2. The mark 1 does not support 50p or 60p or MP4, the mark 2 does with 50p or 60p available in both MP4 and AVCHD. I am a very happy owner of the mark 2.
