Camera Obscura, 'Lloyd, I'm Ready to be Heartbroken' @ Koko, London 7.5.24

Last week was my first time seeing Camera Obscura since Indietracks 10+ years ago and of course since Carey Lander died. I hadn't listened to the band in a long time and used to be a big fan. I got to see them a couple of times from about 2003/4 in Chicago and in Carrboro, North Carolina, the home of their US record label, Merge Records. I so enjoyed seeing them live around that time and saw their star power grow, playing ever bigger venues. By the time I moved to the UK in 2009, they were playing venues with many thousand capacity.
I ended up recording 'Lloyd' even though it seems to be the only song I recorded of them from back in the day in Chicago. Well, I will say that I wasn't a crazy Lloyd Cole fan then like I am now! And it is a classic. Still, I wish I'd captured one of their new songs as they are intriguing.

Indietracks was the first time I saw them. Great band and superfestival!
