But the young female tiktok/instagram market will buy it over the ricoh any day cause of the flash. That's my point, ricoh needs to add a flash and also a zoom model.
I have a Coolpix A with me almost every day and always with me when traveling. The build quality and above all image quality is crazy for the size and age.

I've owned it for 10 years and it is such a great camera. The images that it delivers are just killer. Oddly enough I'm starting to see weird glitch lines in the LCD on occasion but it's still chugging along.

Have you tried to pit a wacoom cleaner on the lens to suck the dust out from the sensor? I know some people do it on the LX100 cuz dust is a problem on that one.
Picked up one of these about 8 months ago on a whim. Saw it at a camera store used for $300 CAD. Not without its quirks but, love the build and image quality. Mine also has dust on the sensor. Doesn’t really bother me. Been watching your channel for years, always appreciate your philosophy and viewpoints. Great videos dude.
I got mine about a year ago for about $160 in my country currency. The body was pretty beat up with a lot of scratches, and the LCD had some vignetting. It was hard to get used to at first, but now it's become my go-to camera. I've taken about 40,000 photos with it. Love it!
Nikon was floundering, making these cameras a few years ago. The market didn't bite and Nikon almost died. Now it has a cult following! People are fickle. Support current cameras.
I rarely comment on videos, but I really like your video. I have a Nikon P7000 and its a excellent camera and honestly its even replacing my Olympus M4/3 for simplicity, size and performance
This camera is competitor to Ricoh GR II or Pentax MX-1, Sony RX100 or Lumix lx100 in terms of build quality, sensor size, optics and ergonomic, but not the Ricoh GR III. Great camera overall, but it’s rare nowadays. GR II even easier to find now (in decent condition)
The he Sony rx100 has really good speed in autofocus. I managed to track a running dog on the beach running towards me and nail 90% of the shots. So it is average sony speed.
@@A1ko_ yeah it's the best autofocus that you can get in a compact camera. That's why I also recommend the Sony to my friends that is considering getting Canon G7 X Mark II.
I don't know how people are getting build issues or dust in their GR3, mine has been through saint Lucia and pocket carry and I've not had any of them issues at all.
I remember when this came out, several photo magazines declared the lens to be terrific. Popular Photography Magazine said that the 18.5mm lens was the equal or better to the full frame 28mm f/2.8 Nikkor. I gave it serious consideration, but my eyesight precludes me from using a rear LCD, so I went with the Contemporary Fujifilm X100.
Nikon has an optical viewfinder for the Coolpix A (Nikon DF-CP1). Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find nowadays but it was worth it to me because I can't stand LCDs on cameras.

Yup, love my black one. Didnt succeed cuz it was same or more $$$ as their APS-C DSLRs. Also, they named it Coolpix, which had always been their amateur plastic P&S line. So nobody took it seriously. Shoot NEF and youve got a great image!
Got this Camera for many years, the main problem is, that you're getting a lot of dust very quickly on your sensor and its almost impossible to remove that stuff without disassemble it and clean it.
I have some of the best highest mega pixel camera at my disposal, but I have the most fun using my GR3 and a $30.00 Pentax point and shoot film camera...go figure. Absolutely HATE shooting on cell phone, they are for screen shots and photos of receipts...F cell phones, if I had my way I'd go back to flip phone
@@chromaticvisuelle I've no doubt, but I really dislike the experience of shooting with a phone, I always prefer using a camera. That being said a good photo is a good photo regardless of medium taken.
I found my "sweet spot" just around a NEX-6 a while ago, got some 25-27mm manual focus lenses for it, the Pergear 25/1.7 is a keeper I think, it's an ugly lens compared to the TTartisan ones, but it's brighter and sharper, and all of them are very pocketable. Went with the old NEX instead of the new A6xxx series cause it's got a bigger viewfinder and I'm oldschool like that, I can't teach myself into using the back screen of a camera. The lens was around 60 quid, camera was under 200 cause the screen is scratched a lot.
Man ! I've been looking left and right for that camera to be affordable, and sadly it never war for me. At 200€, I would have bought one, but the cheapest I've seen were always in the 500€ range, which is stright up not an affordable pricerange for me. What I ended up getting for a small camera tha I can fit in my pocket is that I got a Lumix LX5 for 110€. Not the same kind of sensor at all, not the same lens either, but hey it's small and it gets the job done all the same. Bonus points for the lens that goes up to 90mm, the f/2 aperture at 24mm and the optional EVF. That more that makes out for the lower performanc you get on that 1/1.7" CCD 10MP sensor (which, if you're in decent light still gives you very decent image quality I might add)

Making YT videos about cameras DOES inflate their value. Saying that a camera is valuable to a large audience, esp giving a range (and such a wide one) of value, will effect the economy. I get it - you shouldn’t get hate for doing what you do, because you don’t directly determine selling or buying price. But you also can’t blame viewers for the impact we all KNOW YT hype has on prices.
It depends in which is your favorite focal length, and if you truly want the compactness of the coolpix or if you prefer a larger bod to accomodate a viewfinder and bigger controls.

I don't know. A Fuji X-E3 with an 18mm/F2 is almost indistinguishable in size and has a much more modern focusing system. May not win the sharpness war though.

I use a Pen F for daily use on monochrome settings and is such a nice micro four thirds camera! I prefer something like that over a big FF chunky boy

The fastest AF camera is for me always the Nikon F5. Works great on my metal Nikon AF-D prime lenses. 9 out of 10 i use the Nikon AF 28mm f/1.4D lens.
I had one of these briefly in 2015 but ended up returning it because of dust spots. Wishing I hadn’t right now. It was otherwise a great camera

Dee Rosa, before you upload photo, do you edit photo in Lightroom, do you use presets ?
I edit them. I do a reverse cine curve and work with the color sliders and wheels.
