- Here's an update on what we've been doing in May 2024. We returned to Canada on April 30th and spent a few weeks on Vancouver Island. First, we driveway surfed at my sister's place in Victora, then went to see Anne's dad in Nanaimo. We camped at the Rathtrevor Provincial Park for 4 days. Here is a previous video about Rathtrevor PP - • Camping at Rathtrevor ...
After that, we moved further up the island to Courtney, where we spent five days cleaning out a storage room to get rid of it and save some money on rent. We stayed at a newer RV Park called Puntledge www.puntledger... Close to town and huge campsites.
After completing that task, we took the ferry from Comox to Powell River and drove up to Lund to camp near our boat at Sunlund RV Park. Here is a previous video I made about it: • Visit to Sunlund by th... Once the boat is launched, the RV and truck will be stored in it's place.
Since May 13th, we have been prepping our boat, "Vestri," for this season's adventures. She needed bottom work, winterizing, some maintenance, etc. We hired a person to do the nasty bottom sanding and painting task. I've been busy with the dewinterizing, various mechanical, plumbing, and electrical tasks, plus loading our stuff back on it. Anne has been prettying up some of the teak brightwork and organizing stuff. Lots to do! Poor weather has hampered the bottom sanding and paint task, but it's coming along, and we should be launching it in early June. Stay tuned.

Hi Ray and Ann, Happy Boating Season. I can't wait to join you on your journey. Cheers.
UK calling...Hi Ray, great to see the update. A launch video would be great when the time comes...
Whoo! Boating season. Looking forward to the vids!
Can't wait to see some boating stuff.
Looks like some good honest work‼️ Glad to see You made it to Comox this year🍒🍒
Hi Ray and Anne, Great Team Work.
You have been busy the boat is looking good though
Good job, you are a good getter.
Thanks for sharing Ray! Like 173
A job worth doing is worth doing right.
nicely done ! Smart changing out the thermostat. It's such a small inexpensive part that can really cause issues. And it'll fail when you are miles from a shop or place to layup and remove. I say this from 1st hand experience. Appears you have plenty of potential electrical power for sure.
Great video - thanks!
Love your boat I just bought same boat a 81 single engine I just left Vancouver island now in Ontario working on the boat my boat has different layout one bedroom in vberth and one head
Looking forward to seeing you back on the water.
You know you're a serious electronics guy when you have a rubbermaid bin dedicated solely to resistors!
haha, yeah, old storage box from when I had the TV and Stereo repair. Full of nuts, bolts and screws these days.
You look like you're getting into the nautical mode with the beard growth Ray. One thing you're going to have to bone up on though is your lingo, I can't believe you called your anchor line a rope haha.
Had to look up the difference. It is a rope until it is hooked together and put to use, then it becomes a line. So right now its a piece of rope or cordage, so I was accidently calling it right. :)
Thanks Ray! I'm curious how you get the engine oil out of the engine? Is the engine elevated from the floor to allow a gravity oil dump?
A fitting has been attached to the oil drain under the engine and a hose is attached and leads up to a hand pump. Oil is then pumped out.
