It’s definitely pronounced “my KROM i ter” - at least here in the US. I used to work at a hardware shop where we had a lot of Boeing Machinists come in for tools. One of the top sellers were the Starett Micrometer. Starett makes a ton of tools for precision measurements where there is not tolerance for error. Clearly not used for door plugs… 😅
