  • SIDMOUTH DEVON | Holiday Seaside Town Walking Tour.
We visit Sidmouth for a walk along the beach and seafront and a look around the town centre from Jacob's Ladder to the amazing cliffs and fantastic beaches.
Sidmouth is a charming seaside town located on the Jurassic Coast in Devon, England. It offers a mix of natural beauty, historical sites, and recreational activities. As of my last update in September 2021, here are some of the most popular attractions in Sidmouth:
Sidmouth Beach: The town is known for its picturesque pebble beach, offering a relaxing spot for sunbathing, picnicking, and enjoying the sea views.
The Esplanade: This scenic promenade runs along the seafront and provides lovely views of the coastline. It's perfect for leisurely walks and people-watching.
Connaught Gardens: These beautiful gardens offer a peaceful oasis with well-maintained flower beds, stunning views of the sea, and a charming café.
Sidmouth Museum: Located in an old fishing cottage, this museum showcases the history and heritage of Sidmouth and the surrounding area.
The Donkey Sanctuary: A short drive from Sidmouth, this sanctuary is a haven for rescued donkeys. Visitors can learn about the donkeys and enjoy walking trails.
Norman Lockyer Observatory: Founded by Sir Norman Lockyer in 1912, this observatory is dedicated to astronomy and solar studies. It often hosts public events and stargazing sessions.
Peak Hill Llamas: For something unique, visitors can take guided llama treks through the countryside and enjoy the stunning scenery along the way.
Jacob's Ladder Beach: A set of steep steps lead down to this secluded sandy beach, offering a more tranquil spot away from the town center.
Blackmore Gardens: These well-maintained gardens feature colorful flower displays, fountains, and a peaceful environment for relaxation.
Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary: Another sanctuary in the area, this one focuses on providing a safe and loving home for donkeys. Visitors can learn about the organization's efforts and interact with the donkeys.
Sidmouth Arboretum: This community project has transformed various green spaces in the town into mini-arboretums, showcasing a diverse collection of trees and plants.
Sidmouth Folk Festival: If you're visiting during the festival (typically in August), you can enjoy traditional music, dance, and arts performances.

All my childhood holidays were spent here. My Grandparents lived in Honiton so this was our seaside retreat when visiting from Yorkshire every year. Unfortunately, they passed away several years ago, and it still is a very special place for me ❤

Loved the video and what super weather you had. Just wondering when you filmed it as people are dressed warmly so I guess it wasn't summer, although considering this year's summer maybe it was 😆 We're planning a few days there so I was searching for videos for virtual visits. Watched it on our TV - great 👍

Love your walk-throughs...however any possibility to reduce the background traffic noise? Presume if you're not on voice mike...pretty straightforward.

Thanks for showing this stunning video of Sidmouth in all its glory! I live 20 minutes drive from Sidmouth, and it’s a gem of a place. I love the regency architecture…some of the buildings are castellated and they remind me of mini castles. The beach is gorgeous when the tide is out, and I sometimes find some nice sea glass if I look hard enough, and the reddish pinky sand looks so cool.
There are some amazing walks on the SW Coastpath from Sidmouth, especially if you walk from Jacob’s Ladder towards Ladram Bay and gaze at the view from Peak Hill…it will take your breath away (and so will the steep walk, but totally worth it!) For those not wanting to walk too far, there’s a free car park at the top of the hill on the right as you drive out of Sidmouth.

Having lived in Sidmouth lot of rubbish statements made on this vlog.Rock cottage is falling into the sea,has nice in thatch roof and continual noise from road traffic so not a desirable place to live.Suggest would be better narrated.
