One of the most important problems with the Bismarckia Palm is the Evil Weavel destroying these beautiful palms. I lost a large specimen in 2009 and a huge 7 year old Bismarck last November. ( $200 to remove ) In the last few years I've seen 5 sucome to the weavel in my subdivision alone in South Fort Myers and many other dying Bismarck specimens in areas of Southwest Florida. We need to see a video on this devastating beattle destroying this silver blue beauty and what preventative measures we can take to save them.
Great idea Rick - I would like to optimally find a specimen that has succumbed to the weevil and talk there, as well as discuss other species that are susceptible to the bug. They are terrible insects!
I bet they can’t survive Termidor SC, Permethrin 36% & Nylar 10% mixed 1 Oz per in 2 gallons of water! I spray 3x a yr, it stinks, it’s horrible for you, so wear appropriate clothes, real FaceMask , eyewear and don’t drink it. That has produced an incredible yard , works inside walls for fleas and mites too. Be careful
Was this palm named after the Countess Mona Bismarck? She was named the best dressed woman in the world and was known for her astounding beauty. Salvador Dali did a portrait of her with her magnificent shock of white/blue gray hair and her huge pale blue eyes...colored like this palm. She owned an astounding home in Palm Beach, Florida. Her 4th husband's grandfather was the German "Iron Chancellor" Bismarck.
I just planted a 8ft Bizmark in TampaBay (you know SuperBowl champs 😀), Clearwater Fl, I used Bayer tree and shrub. I used Brown Cow and organic soil. I’ll spray in 1 month Termidor SC, Permethrin 36% and Nylar combination liquid in my hazmat suit, I do this 3 x a yr - kills the critters
My understanding from U of Florida is palms that are suspectable to Weevils like the Bismarkia & Canary Island Date palm, get attacked when stressed. The stress can be due to not enough fertilizer, storm damage, and especially trimming them too much. Never pineapple them, and it is best only to trim off the completely dead limbs. Otherwise they give off a smell which the weevils are attracted to. If they get into the crown, there is no saving them. So while treating them with insecticide might kill a female weevil before it's pheromone attracts males, keep them healthy and trim them sparingly.
Thanks for the information in the lesson. I wanted to Bismarck palm it's the only problem that I really like and I am from Florida. So mine is growing away but I needed this information thank you
A lot of necessary information, I just dropped one in my sandy front yard in TampaBay, FL. I used cow manure and organic soil around it and I just did light liquid fertilizer (Bayer) Tree and Shrub because my Bamboo guy said to pop that on because of critters,
Great video. I just ordered a baby or "sapling?", I should be closing on my new home at end of Oct. I love this palm tree. The tree will be shipping to me in a small pot with 3 to 4 leaves already growing. How do I properly take it out of the pot and plant into the lawn ? I read it needs a wide and shallow hole, but that sounds not right. Can you explain, or have a video on the process? Thank you for any help.
I would appreciate your input on how long one must wait before the fruit is ready to plant? I have a Silver Bismark with seeds that are about the size of a large grape and is green in color. How long does it take to mature and fall from the tree? Thanks
Hi Christian, long time viewer first time commenter. I am germinating Several hundred Bismarck, in about a year and a half I will need to transplant them to parts. I am considering using Root Pouches versus plastic pots. Is this a good idea? Thoughts? I’m hoping to sell them at your five and 25 gallon or larger pots Thank you, John
Piękne palmy. Chyba będzie kolejną w moim ogrodzie. W pierwszej kolejności duży chamaerops humilis. Pozdrawiam z Polski 🌴🇵🇱 Poszedł subik. Zapraszam do siebie na kanał 😉💪
Ive got a mature one that I need to transplant. It is in an aread what is going to be torn up so I want to save it. Its about 18ft tall so will be a large root ball to dig up Im sure.
WildTropics It can be dug and transplanted properly as long as the person doing the job is experienced with root pruning. definitely ask the person doing it if he has experience with transplanting them before.
Es una palmera bellísima. Es nativa de el Norte de Madagascar. No le gusta ser trasplantado, por lo tanto hay que sembraron en el lugar donde se va a quedar. Aguanta el frío de hasta 21° Farenheits.

I’m attempting to grow a silver Bismarck up in Jacksonville. It’s a small plant right now. It’s only 2-2.5 ft tall
Where do you get a small tree?
@@padraicley3265 he/she most likely grew from seed

Although I find pouches or bags to be useful, I find deep pots with hard plastic to be best.
Bismarck's palm is so beautiful plant.where it found?
It is native to Madagascar.

This palm is the sexiest palm of all palms HOT. But that tacky mulch under it is not!!!
A lightning strike took out my 30 ft bismarckia palm, pretty sad to see it go
I love it looks like I have a boy and a girl. I hope the seeds are viable.

How many years does it take a triangle palm to flower and give seed
bryan rosado Under optimal conditions I would say about 8 years, but could be as much as 10 or 12 if the growing season is not all year round.
Do they do good in wind
They actually do pretty well because they have been accustomed to Madagascar's cyclones.
Does it have thorns on the leaves?
no
No thorns but the edges of petiole are kind of sharp.
They're planted way to close together.
Hahaha...."A tree-oh."
Anyone has this Bismarck Palm seeds? Like to get some to try.
If I get seed in stock I will definitely let people know on the channel!
@@TheCfkingfish did you ever get some seeds?
Como se reproduce??
There are male and female plants, you need both to flower to produce seeds. :)
