I have never seen this done. Y'all I am almost 67 year old. Seen this style several times and never knew how it was done. I think about having this done for my short fro.
I know my sponge helped me with a more feminine look as opposed to looking like Michael Evans with a flat afro. Women generally wear curls and demension, texture in their hair. Not sure what is so offensive about that.
Hello Naturalistas!! :) SO happy so many of you enjoyed this tutorial! I just added links to the products used in this video to my description box. Hope this helps XOXO
This is perfect!!! Thanks 😍. I'm new to the TWA crew and I have a sponge. Most days are hit and miss. One major thing I am doing wrong is my hair is usually wet. Definitely gonna give this a try before dinner tonight.
You are hyping me up gurl!!! I’m adding more and more things to my cart watching your videos! Ready to slay my short natural cut!!! Can’t wait for my hair appointment next week!!!! Yesssssss! You are beautiful
My son and I both have sponge styles...but it works better for us when our hair is damp. We use a curl gel (can't remember the name right now...ran out a lil while ago) or aloe vera gel. When I've done it on my dry hair like this, I don't get much definition at all. To each his or her own. Yours came out really nice!
Thank you so much for posting! You are a beauty! Just purchased one of these for my son who wants to try this as hes growing out his hair. Also watched your video on the different kind of products to enhance natural curls.
White Irish girl here, but am loving this video, what a beautiful girl with awesome hair. This sponge is “magical” 😲 Who on earth came up with this great product??
Great job!!! I’ve been doing it all wrong! I’ve been soaking my head before curling - from now on I’ll make sure it’s dry. Thank you so much ❤️👌🏾😍 Fernelle Davis from NurtureInChrist
Nia Hope Yes I did and it came out defined. I sprayed my hair with warm water not drenched but wet enough then used my curl define cream then my home made flaxseed gel. What I also do is spray the curl sponge with water so it won't dry out my hair while twisting.
I just cut my locs Saturday bc I just want loose natural hair.. But I must get this curl sponge today, and other hair products u used as well ty for sharing . I love your hair❤
wonderful job on teaching how to have beautiful nature curl I was looking for something for my son and you are my favorite. Thank you for creating this video!
Thank you for this video Nia!! I picked that exact sponge up a few months at my local beauty supply store and tried it on wet hair. All it did was frizz my short curls out. So it's been collecting dust. Now I see I may have been using it improperly. Off to experiment! 😁
Monica Rance It worked a lot better on dry hair. However, my hair is thinner in the front and it really exposed too much of my scalp. I also experienced breakage in that same area and my hair stood up more like spikes. I really didn't care for that look on me. The back looked nice, but overall this tool is just not for me. I'm glad I gave it a try on dry hair before getting rid it though.🙂
Sanya Tonisha thank you. My daughter is the opposite. Her hair is extremely thick. I'm trying to persuade her to use the sponge but wondered if it would work on her thick hair.
I just cut my hair and I did not know what to do with my hair, I was looking on RUclips then I found your video it’s very helpful, thank you darling😍have a bless life
I HATE finger twisting my hair and never realized I could just a curl sponge instead. You just helped me #levelup my natural hair game lol Thank you! Definitely subscribed!
+Odunola Bola-Adesope You can do any number of things once you big chop. You can do a wash n go, you can go to the barbershop, you can pick your hair out into a TWA (teeny weeny Afro). I've created an entires short natural hair playlist, the link is in my description box about different ways to style your short or big chop hair. If you watch those videos, you'll find plenty of styling options! I'll also be adding more to that playlist in the coming weeks! Hope this helps 💕
@@NiaHope Thank you darling. I am expecting my barber here this weekend for a big chop off....So I am here to be sure i know what i am about to do. Your videos will come super handy for me now
That is absolutely amazing. I've never heard of such a thing and would never have known how such a thing would be used. Thank you for such a great video.
This also works when your hair is wet or has a lot of product in it. I do it every morning. Your hair does not have to be dry. I guess just do whatever works for you :)
Exactly what I was looking for. Bristle brush(literally 👞 polishing brush) or sponge brush coiling. 💥 boom this video finally appears. Thank you for posting!
Love the fact that your not using tons of different products. I didn’t understand why people use so many different products especially for a short twa. I have to subscribe.
Sweetie, you have THE BEST presentation for hairstyling etc I have seen on RUclips ! I'm serious. I watched 3 minutes and immediately subscribed. I have very short hair as well. I was going to use a texturizer, but hate the straight 'pointys' on the tips I have to snip off. I'm definitely going to try this ! Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge Nia.! :~))
This is the style that i plan to do while i grow my hair long enough to have dreads eventually. Is maintain this style easy as well? Do you still moisturize and sponge every morning?
It was 0:23 where I knew I didn’t even need to watch this video anymore and go a sponge cuz your hair looks so good and I need my hair to look like that too!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I just watched a similar video on another channel and I thought it was very good, but the young lady used so much gel and creams and other "stuff" in her hair that it seemed as if there would be a great deal of buildup. I like that you use very little of any product and you achieve the same beautiful results.
So you don’t use any gel? Recently did my big chop to a twa and other videos talk about gel to help create curls. But i guess you don’t need gel with the sponge?
Ok...finally cause of you...figured out to start my hair DRY. Wow. Needed this!!! No more saturation prior. I have my sponge...but couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working.
I may have to pick this up. As I'm still in the TWA phase of life and although I use curl activators from time to time. I still feel like I don't get quite the definition I'm after to really call what my hair looks like a true "style". So this would be awesome. Be interesting to see if it can grab some of my more straighter hairs and put them in formation as well for me, lol.
So I av been looking at ur videos. Ur tutorials are amazing. Am about to do a tapered cut inspired by you. But the brush that you have on the link isn't the same as the one in the video and the reviews are bad. Can you help relook and clarify. Thanks ❤️
Thank u ,I just started mine today it's getting there,I'm using sponge twist cream,my question is the two sides to the sponge,is the large size for people with long hair vs the Short side for people with short hair
I love this video. My hair is about That length but maybe a bit shorter but very thin on the sides, have been since I was a little kid. it never grew, but I'm gonna try this sponge out. I actually bought one today, that's how I came across this video. Thank u. BTW you're beautiful.
