I know my sponge helped me with a more feminine look as opposed to looking like Michael Evans with a flat afro. Women generally wear curls and demension,texture in their hair. Not sure what is so offensive about that.

Wow! I've always wondered about those sponges. Pretty amazing.
My son and I both have sponge styles...but it works better for us when our hair is damp. We use a curl gel (can't remember the name right now...ran out a lil while ago) or aloe vera gel. When I've done it on my dry hair like this, I don't get much definition at all. To each his or her own. Yours came out really nice!
I keep going back and forth on chopping my hair off but finding your styling videos is giving me life- ima do it!

Ok...finally cause of you...figured out to start my hair DRY. Wow. Needed this!!! No more saturation prior. I have my sponge...but couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working.

Nia Hope Yes I did and it came out defined. I sprayed my hair with warm water not drenched but wet enough then used my curl define cream then my home made flaxseed gel. What I also do is spray the curl sponge with water so it won't dry out my hair while twisting.

I may have to pick this up. As I'm still in the TWA phase of life and although I use curl activators from time to time. I still feel like I don't get quite the definition I'm after to really call what my hair looks like a true "style". So this would be awesome. Be interesting to see if it can grab some of my more straighter hairs and put them in formation as well for me, lol.

Thank you for this video Nia!! I picked that exact sponge up a few months at my local beauty supply store and tried it on wet hair. All it did was frizz my short curls out. So it's been collecting dust. Now I see I may have been using it improperly. Off to experiment! 😁

How did it work out for you when you used it on your dry hair?
Monica Rance It worked a lot better on dry hair. However, my hair is thinner in the front and it really exposed too much of my scalp. I also experienced breakage in that same area and my hair stood up more like spikes. I really didn't care for that look on me. The back looked nice, but overall this tool is just not for me. I'm glad I gave it a try on dry hair before getting rid it though.🙂
Sanya Tonisha thank you. My daughter is the opposite. Her hair is extremely thick. I'm trying to persuade her to use the sponge but wondered if it would work on her thick hair.

This is the style that i plan to do while i grow my hair long enough to have dreads eventually. Is maintain this style easy as well? Do you still moisturize and sponge every morning?
This also works when your hair is wet or has a lot of product in it. I do it every morning. Your hair does not have to be dry. I guess just do whatever works for you :)
Good to know. I have the same length of hair like she does. My thing is to do it as quickly as possibly on a busy work morning.

Wish I had seen this video before buying the other hair products. This worked and it was simple. Took me only a few minutes to get the curl I wanted.👶🏾
So you don’t use any gel? Recently did my big chop to a twa and other videos talk about gel to help create curls. But i guess you don’t need gel with the sponge?

Hi My hair is like twice as long as yours but still natural. Is it possible to use Tahjid Wahid Curl Cream and then the Curl sponge.
This will be my lifesaver as my twist never last longer than a week and obviously done big chop and want something other than a boring mini Afro.
