- While metal detecting for the hell of it I went back to where I had started at this place. I walked right into the cellar hole where it had caved in and got a signal and started digging because it was the only signal on my fisher F19 I had got. As I started moving dirt and rocks I could see there was something round in there on its edge and used my pocket pry bar to get it free. pulled it out and woo it is a large copper coin ! that's great for just being out to dig whatever. As soon as I put my Light baton 3 pro on it I could see what it was. A 1787 - 1788 Massachusetts state copper large cent coin. For all the walking I did around this old farm following the rock walls and cart paths the great find was right were I started out. Metal detecting old places like this in NH its always great to find old coins.

You just described my own efforts: metal detecting in its most basic form. LOL, my results have never come close to yours. Your Mass copper is my wheat penny; but I still have fun.
