This episode summed up Panasonic's current state well. They don't have a cheap entry-level camera (possibly APSC with L Mount), the S5II is already 2 years old and would be positioned at the mid-range level. And they still don't have advanced bodies (either for video or stills), since the S1 is 6 years old. I need to get off Canon DSLR, but it's getting hard to believe that Panasonic is looking at the fullframe market.
@@MatthewDangyou The problem is, how long will this cooking take? My biggest fear is investing in L mount glass when only Panasonic has cameras on it (Leica and Blackmagic are not for me) and has an inconsistent product line. I'm hopeful that at CES we'll see new things.
Those RF lens prices are putting me off from Canon but the price of a used c70 is tempting. I have time to decide between the c70 or the S5iix. I have never used Lumix but I like what they did with it.
@@d.edwardsfreelanceeditorvi4212 "decide between the c70 or the S5iix" This doesn't make any sense. They are two cameras with completely different proposals, with completely different prices. There is no reason to put the two on the same scale.
well, they gotta be making it at some point though...otherwise they will be falling behind extremely since so many other companies have uncropped 4k60fps
This was an amazing conversation, I feel like LUMIX is really missing that entry level camera that could have been like the S9 with less stuff, maybe without 4k60p, a bit less powerful IBIS, to bring the cost down, and there you could have a really good entry level camera. But as Kofi said, we don’t know how much work there is behind to be able to do so, but just saying. At the moment if someone that is a beginner wants to start with a budget LUMIX camera, it would be the S5, but it does not have a realisable AF. But I would love to see the S1HII too so lumix has a lot on their plate now I guess 😅 But I believe, a faster sensor, internal Braw/prores raw or if the can create their own raw, 32 bit float, and basically the FF version of the GH7, and you’ll have a beast of a camera.
Lumix needs to give us a PROPER cinema camera ASAP! Something like a Burano or V-Raptor. Something that costs >$30k that is actually worth that price in terms of performance. The S5II and S1H and S9 and GH7 are all awesome cams, no question! But we need an ACTUAL professional cinema camera that pushes boundaries in the way we are used to Lumix pushing boundaries. That's what they could stand to learn LMAO
@ if you look at the blue print it looks like they mixed a s1h and a c80. But tbh I think the Pyxis made them rethink the design. Not sure how the new body would look if it’s still going to be a hybrid cam.
Make the S1h2 the "Fx3" and make a eva 1 style cam for the Fx6 space and then an upgraded version of that for the fx9 space.. Lumix has the tech. it's just implementation
@@MatthewDangyou Most definetly! I'm kind of salty I was impatient and got the S5II because it dropped before the X.. Really want that usb-c recording 😭
This was a lot of fun man ! Thanks for having me!
Thanks Kofi for hopping on!
Love to see it!
Great interview
Thanks for the video and your opinions.

Yeah they are cooking something up for sure but hopefully it just comes soon

You have pointed the problem and challenges of Lumix going forward.

target consumer for S series is not blogers it's wedding and sports videographers, give them good PDAF in all high framerates.
Great analysis, but this is for all video in mirrorless.
Top tier conversations in this space! Appreciate your content bro
I gotchu
Lumix definitely needs a robust cinema line.
Lumix should use the Eva 1sensor and make a mirrorless apsc camera. There's tons of sigma lenses out there that would incredible on that camera.
Merry Christmas Matt and Kofi!! I haven't watch this video yet but drop a comment first :) I will be back!
You the real one Richard Wong😏
Nice interview
Thanks Big Cook! Gotta get you on an episode soon too! #lumixgang
Uncropped 4k60p means stacking the sensor, so this means that investment for Lumix in their sensor design which they don’t have.

Bring a mini 4d!
I’m really loving these podcasts!
Also, Matt… Dee-JAY-Eye!!! 😡😤😂
oooo mini 4d sounds sick!

Saw it on discord first but you COOKED with that thumbnail! Great episode!
Just waiting for the camera photoshop to be on l mount rumors lol

That's what they could stand to learn LMAO
They had those cameras such as EVO and Varicam but they failed in the market.
This was a kool video.
I’m starting to feel the S1Hii seems like distant thought that Lumix may never release.
Gotta be patient. It’s coming. They are working through that patent
@ I hope so, not convinced about ibis and internal nd’s though. But if they can, take my money.
@ if you look at the blue print it looks like they mixed a s1h and a c80. But tbh I think the Pyxis made them rethink the design. Not sure how the new body would look if it’s still going to be a hybrid cam.
@ that’s a valid comment. I would get the C80 but would like to have the ability for stills.
If they Pyxis had autofocus I definitely would have bought it.

I would even take the S5iiX with 4k full frame 60fps in a box style design with a flip out screen on the side

It is nice especially with the Kondor blue handle ssd
What Lumix can learn... Update the BS1H, don't put the screen on the side, add autofocus, add electronic NDs & copy everything else from the S5iix
Honda and Porsche does not have the same internals. Leica and Lumix has it.
