Touching story. If only Season 25 tackled subjects like these. Not necessarily dealing with the loss of someone you know, but how to deal with sadness.
Childrens entertainment in general needs to tackle worldly affairs. Adults euphemise things too much to kids and then accuse them of being too soft. Innocence is not inherently virtuous. Its not bad but its not good as a permanent state.
Coming into this I thought it was another "Thomas doesn't like the new driver and the old one comes back" but this blew me away. Music and narration are immensely intense and it really hits you in the soft spot. Excellent story dude.
It is quite humbling to see our favorite tank engine face death it’s self through his favorite driver, (instead of the engine theme of scrapping), and how engines can be saved, but humans only so much. At the end of the day, let us live our lives with memory, purpose, and legacy.
This really was a beautifully written story with a wonderful send off to Thomas' driver. It's wonderful to see one that actually gives such love and respect to crews. Throughout the series the engines have always been kept in steam but they would have to come to terms with their crews not being around forever as they are almost always destined to outlive them.
A touching and sad story.... first time I'me hearing it. It reminds me of when my mother passed away so suddenly in December 2019..... I know that feeling about despite the sun being bright and warm, feeling so cold... Like Thomas' driver, she's buried somewhere I can easily see her every day, on our country home and property where she always wanted to live. Now I'll be able to see her any time I wish.
Tearful and heartwarming story! The quote Thomas' old driver said to him that they will always be friends no matter what is something we can all learn and relate from.
This hit me where it hurts, man. My grandparents are getting very old and have numerous health issues. They're fixable, but they do give me worry. This story gave me some semblence of hope; that even if my old folks cast away into the great beyond, they'll still be with me
How Heartbreaking, Reminds me of how much I miss Russi Taylor the voice of Minnie Mouse and Cameron Boyce from Descendants and Jessie from The Walt Disney Company
This is one of my favorite videos on all of RUclips, and my favorite Thomas story ever told as a whole. Reminds me of my own Dad, who sadly passed away around Christmas 2020.
A Heartwarming Story that really does show Just how deeply relations can go. I have a feeling you wrote this after hearing about the discarding of humans in the Reboot. TheBuriedTruck was quite a fitting choice, the Music is what really drives the story. Great Work!
This reminded me of the relationship I had with my late grandfather. Even though he is gone now, I still know we will be friends, even though he is no longer here.
I'm not crying, it's the invisible onion chopping ninja's. Seriously though, very well done. A very respectful approach to the subject matter and a lovely message at the end. Keep up the Excellent work
I really wonder what Mr.Awdy's family will think about this. As for me I think this is 1 of the most greatest stories and very heartfelt. Brings back some nostalgia.
And this is why, if I had kids, they would watch fan-made episodes after finishing what Wilbert and his son wrote It tells children about life, death, how you dont have to be sad when a loved one is gone. Its okay to feel a sense of happiness or relief when it comes to the death of someone you were close to I miss the days of Thomas when there was actual lessons, but this one blew a lot of stories outta the water
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story with us! As someone who has lost many loved ones, it was very meaningful for me to see Thomas grieve
THIS is by far the Best version of this story. This one just hits all the nuances and ticks All the Boxes. The music in this version flows together so well. Those rich Deep Low synth tones set the feeling so much. Absolutely Awesome Work on this one !
Amazing! I couldn't help getting emotional over Thomas' ordeal. Its stories like this that show the realism, passion, and relationships these characters have. You have earned a sub and a like my friend. Just goes to show that the fans are the only ones who truly understand what Thomas and friends is all about
This story was beautiful. Immediately thought of my grandma who is the reason why I'm even watching this video 25 years after her own passing. I wasn't trying to cry today but alas... I love this fandom and this franchise.
This is... this is so amazing. Like halfway through it I got hit with such a sudden wave of emotions because of how beautifully this episode was made. Great job.
I believe there should be an episode on COVID-19 and have it dedicated to those who were lost to the virus, as well as first responders, and essential workers who worked tirelessly to help us during this time of crisis.
I rarely comment on videos, but this video was... breath-taking. It was so sombre yet so uplifting by the end, a part of me wanted to weep. What a lovely video.
If they were to make this episode in the actual show, I'd imagine this is how it would be advertised: "In 'Thomas and the Old Oak Tree', Thomas wakes up to find a different driver in front of his shed. Thomas demands to know what happened to HIS driver, and once he's given an explanation, he realizes just how powerful true friendship really is." It keeps what happened to his driver a secret until the viewers watch the episode and get hit with a ton of bricks.
Damn. . .one of the saddest stories I've seen from the fandom. Thomas' character was very well handled, with his outburst actually being a good thing in a way (mainly because instead of being angry of his new driver, he was worried what happened to his old driver as he never had a proper departure). No one should be kept from knowing what happened to those they care about. The subject of the Driver's death was touching, but with a surprisingly happy ending that doesn't feel forced. The music really sells everything tho. The depressing rendition of Thomas' theme sounds haunting comparing it to it's normal version, but the final slower paced reprise sounding brave and with it's cheerfulness back. Even tho the TV Series timeline is left unknown (although it's implied that all the stories we're told aren't as far apart as the books), this story can still work no matter what headcanon you have. Perhaps for some Thomas' driver first started working in his 50s or maybe he started from his 20s. While I like to imagine the classic era spans across the dates of each episode's broadcasting (mainly because I don't quite like the idea of having all these characters being centuries old), others likely won't agree and prefer the book's more enlongated timeframe. I..got off topic, didn't I? Sorry! Great story lad, and hope for future clouds to have brighter silver linings.
You have guts. Major guts. It's like the Sesame Street episode where Mr. Hooper dies, or the Mister Rogers Neighborhood episode where they learn about assassination. The good thing is that while you're not afraid to talk about death on a kid's show, you have the common sense to not show the person dying, or have any dark grotesque gory Game of Thrones style imagery.
I love stories like this one that have engines interact with their crew or other humans (excluding Topham). Anyone know any stories that focus on engine-human interaction?
Rev W. Awdry would be so proud of you.
MrGojira95 Dude You Are Literally Everywhere
He would be proud of us all
Indeed he would
Cried while watching this. It's such an amazing and heartwarming story.
Genuinely is. Cried for like 15 mins if not longer. The person who made this should be extremely proud of the story.
My heart honestly melted at the scene Thomas found out about the terminal illness. This was such a sweet story.
i o most cry to hear this
So tastefully done. Smart, kind, and effectively told.
If you like it, you could create and release the Richard Jordan stories including this one.
This brought me to tears, as somebody who nearly lost my own mother to cancer this really hit home for me, beautiful Wonderful job
I’m so sorry that happened to you

Y'all out here trying to make a brother cry? Because you succeeded. What a beautifully written and executed story.

Ikr, I love fan content that has the engines interacting with their crew or other humans besides Topham.
Damn it, this genuinely got to me.
The use of low note music cues really help with the depressing tone the story takes in the middle.
What a wonderful video Richard!

R.I.P. Thomas' old driver
I never new a tommy the Choo Choo train story could make me cry
Why am i laughing to this very comment?
That was beautiful. May Thomas' driver rest in peace.
How Heartbreaking, Reminds me of how much I miss Russi Taylor the voice of Minnie Mouse and Cameron Boyce from Descendants and Jessie from The Walt Disney Company
She was also the voice of Huey, Dewey and Louie
This made me cry because of how emotional it was. ❤️
A wonderfully intelligent and heartfelt story. I quite like the tragic twist and how maturely it’s handled.
This is one of my favorite videos on all of RUclips, and my favorite Thomas story ever told as a whole. Reminds me of my own Dad, who sadly passed away around Christmas 2020.

Nice to see sad music in this that isn’t Henry’s sad theme!
My eyes are filled with tears. As someone who's mother had breast cancer, i'm happy people are making these video's about these subjects
Man this give me some heartbreaking moment and made me almost cry after hearing this story. Well done Richard
I'm not crying, it's the invisible onion chopping ninja's. Seriously though, very well done. A very respectful approach to the subject matter and a lovely message at the end. Keep up the Excellent work
I- I’ve never almost cried at Thomas of all things I expected him to come back but holy shit
I love how chill and calm the ending music is, then the usual loud blasting theme.
I really wonder what Mr.Awdy's family will think about this.

How in the world did no tears form in my eyes this time
this was beautiful, so touching. i loved every bit of it. i even shed some tears during this story, its amazing.
I applaud you for writing a story that covers mature subject matter in a true Thomas style. Well done to you.
That Was Amazing, And Heartbreaking, May Thomas' Driver Rest In Peace.
Such a beautiful story I bet you this is the only way Thomas and friends can teach death unlike Sesame Street
This made me cry at the end:( very good job on handling the subject of sickness and death Mattel should take notes
This is how CGI Thomas should look!!!
Amazing work
I absolutely love that opening! If Mattel doesn't give a single Crap on Thomas now, we all know the community still loves classic.
This is one of few thomas creations that has made my cry. Thanks for creating this.
This touched what Mattel wouldn’t dare to do keep up the good work
Even Britt Allcroft herself and pretty much the entirety of the pre-Mattel era never went this far.
A very heartwarming story. Cheers and well done!
That was the best story I could have ever heard
Don't cry Thomas, I understand
This is so emotional...
First Thomas story I've watched since Henry's Forest to make me tear up. I hope you're very proud of your work.
This is so sad but so heartwarming also
You did a splendid job! This story has always been a favourite of mine, so unique and sweet but has a realistic tone, well done again!
People if this was in the model series this would have been the saddest episode ever in the ttte history sadder than Henry’s forest
Really took my mind off season 25
That was heartbreaking and amazing. I loved it.
This might be my favorite fanmade Thomas story.
Oh that was so beautiful. Even though it was a story it was handled with respect and showed the love of two friends. Thank you.
This video made me cry😂 great job
This Story actually made me cry 😢
I love Thomas story
I nearly tear up everytime I watch this
Great work Richard
This legit made me cry
They should have made an episode like this
Well done

Couldn't have said it better.
Aight bro, don't hurt me like this.
Heartbreakingly Sad.

This is deep......great story
The ending almost me me cry
This is beautiful
Was I the only one to have a few tears run down my eyes?
This story was beautiful.
Immediately thought of my grandma who is the reason why I'm even watching this video 25 years after her own passing. I wasn't trying to cry today but alas...
I love this fandom and this franchise.
This is... this is so amazing. Like halfway through it I got hit with such a sudden wave of emotions because of how beautifully this episode was made. Great job.
as someone who lost my best friend to cancer at a somewhat young age, this would've helped back then, an amazing story dude
I believe there should be an episode on COVID-19 and have it dedicated to those who were lost to the virus, as well as first responders, and essential workers who worked tirelessly to help us during this time of crisis.
Never thought this would be an emotional story.
This was a beautiful story man, i actually cried a little bit, great job
That was such a nice story, The Buried Truck narrated this perfectly
I love this....
It’s sad, but you have to remember that nothing lasts forever.
If this episode was in the TV Series...
Will be the most sad Episode of the while Show.
I rarely comment on videos, but this video was... breath-taking. It was so sombre yet so uplifting by the end, a part of me wanted to weep. What a lovely video.
This genuinely got me in tears.
I can relate to Thomas so well. I lost my parents when I was 10, and that was the worst day of my life.
If they were to make this episode in the actual show, I'd imagine this is how it would be advertised:
"In 'Thomas and the Old Oak Tree', Thomas wakes up to find a different driver in front of his shed. Thomas demands to know what happened to HIS driver, and once he's given an explanation, he realizes just how powerful true friendship really is."
It keeps what happened to his driver a secret until the viewers watch the episode and get hit with a ton of bricks.
It seems like Henry isnt the only engine who appreciates nature..
Damn. . .one of the saddest stories I've seen from the fandom. “One word stood out from the rest…
…Terminal.”

This is so...so sweet. I felt like crying for most of the back half of the episode
Well what responsible driver would stop as if he were in a roadside lay-by? You can’t do it! They’ve shown elaboratable ignorance of rule 55.
Like I did in "The Tales of Mainland 4" The movie.
I’m not crying you are!
simply a beautiful piece of work. I almost cried watching this, but truly an amazing and heartwarming story!! please, keep it up
This is so heartbreaking
This was sad and heart warming 🙂
This story reminds me of how close me and my mama were until she died in September of 2020. I blamed myself for it but got over it
HOW DARE YOU MAKE ME CRY
My eyes are a little damper. Well done. Subscribing
When Thomas had gotten the new driver, I had a feeling that his former driver was ill, but I didn't think it would have been terminal
It really gives me tears
4:38 Funny how James is passing by smiling
He didn't know about Thomas' driver's illness/passing yet.
@@GamingDelight probably
The sad truth that any engine, kept in good condition, will always outlive their crews and owners
rev.w.awdry would be proud
nice story.
