Honestly I LIKE that the difficulty is toned down a step, and the ever present mud is replaced by some fun SERIOUS hill climbing and boulder dodging. Its actually rewarding to drive some of the smaller trucks. My only real complaint is that the tree coverage is SO very thick. Cutting thru the forest even in a tiny scout like the international is a major crap shoot.
And WOW, it really is pretty, above anything we have seen thus far.
Completely agree, this Season is really fun. Its "fair play" with respect to excessive mud or other difficult sections. Its workarounds and the map are really rewarding a proper route scouting. Although I do not agree with the fuel consumption of the new trucks, it's terrifying with respect to the AZOV 64 and 73. And many older US trucks are still kind of "useless" and have not been adapted at all. See P12 or P16 as examples, which are way too weak and odd with weight distribution, especially the P16 feels front heavy as a dart arrow.
There are some spots where you can cut through, but generally it's ridiculously dense.
Ben you are the true King of the Road. Amazing editing and music choices. Always appreciate these.

Absolutely my favorite maps in the game so far. The experience the level designers have gained over the last 3 years really shines in Season 10. Every corner or stretch of road has personal touches and pretty vistas that always feel interesting to drive. For me, Season 10 is definitely peak trucking.
I agree, you saw it with Season 9 also. The core gameplay is as good as it can be without changing some fundamentals, which I suspect will not happen until the sequel. Curious how Season 11 will play out...

i honestly really like the dim down in difficulty and it adds a bit of a respite, and it makes the more underrated and weaker trucks more viable
Wow, what an intro! It's amazing! I really liked your clips of the landscape in combination with the music. In regards to the 2 new maps: I like them a lot. They have good parts of city areas and asphalt streets. And good parts on dirt streets, muddy parts, water on the street. It so pleasant just to drive through the region, but still with some challenges. I only got the Kenworth 963 right now - but damn, is he a big boy.

I loved the opening montage, Ben, good job! And I'm loving Season 10 so far. The two maps are beautiful, both in terms of design and just sheer vistas. The two new trucks are interesting enough, my favourite being the 'Gentle Giant' Kenworth 963, which may be slow but, really, which truck can go fast in either map? I also like the fact that the developers have prioritised enjoyability over sheer difficulty (the frustrating kind). I liked it in Season 9 and I'm liking it in Season 10. The only niggle: so many tasks' briefings sound rushed and impersonal, like "This bridge fell. We need to build another. Bring the materials and we'll pay." And when you complete the task: "Great, now the passage is opened." The lack of visible people makes the places feel lonely already. Certain tasks' descriptions really don't help make the place feel more alive! At least in past seasons you felt an underlying narrative building as you completed tasks and contracts. Cheers! //Rick

On the last 15 seconds of your video: I worked for a company called A/R Inc. in California in the late 80's. The president of the company had a fire engine red Cobra kit car (the one with the double wide roll bar) but it had an OEM Boss 429 Hemi in it. Dual side exhaust. Oh that thing was awesome! Could light up those 14" back tires and just smoke out the whole alley behind the shop!
It's been a dream car since I was a kid. I'd love to have one or even a replica/kit car. Such a cool machine.

I would like to see more varied wind speed effects and animations, with wind that causes snow drifting and changing the handling of trucks.
Good review and totally agree, among my favorite maps.
Love both new trucks the Kenworth needs a little more power and the Mack the collision model improved, bigger tires wouldn't hurt too.
Picked this game when it first came played for a few days never touched again until two weeks ago sure glad I did loving it now with all the dlc content maps great videos
Heyyy dont diss my boy Kenny like that. This bad boy can carry anything that isnt nailed down. I carried 2 oil rigs (5 points each) on its flatbed up a hill the other day. Easily my new favourite truck, Im in love.
I like it so far. Muddy bits seem reasonable. And its more about managing your speed/stability on narrow trails and hills.
Yes, things can go wrong pretty fast if you aren't careful!
Imagine the next Snowrunner title with BeamNG vehicle, driving and damage physics with maps size similar as in ATS and ETS2. Instead, you begin at a city, town, port or industrial area in Peru. Alive with AI and/or other online players. Drive through deserts, mountains, and snowy peaks into jungles with various levels of terrain. From highway to dirt, sand, muddy, and snowy mountain trails. Have the whole continent of South America starting in Peru. Every new country can be a new DLC and a scale of 1/10. From 20-40-year-old European, Asian, and American import trucks you can buy on a 2nd hand marketplace as a freelance driver to leasing multiple brand new trucks as a company owner.
Before you set off you have a good walk around your truck to check the condition of your old school truck. From tires, drive shaft, engine oil, coolant, etc. Just like in a Truck Mechanic simulator, you can actually repair many parts. You climb on board with realistic animation like you were in a Call of Duty game. You look at your fully interactive dashboard just like in FS2020. But wait you have to look at your 30-year paper manual locked up in your glove box first. You need to know where you can find the switch for your oil pressure.
The starting process goes as far as pulling various switches to pressing the clutch and getting your truck in first gear. (fully 18-speed manual transmission). If too much simulation is too much for the average and casual gamer have a separate arcade mode as well and be able to customize how arcade or sim you want it to be. But if I drive over a rock I should feel the stress of risking my drive shaft just like in BeamNG. If damaged you have to call in either a AI repair vehicle or call in another player when playing on a multiplayer server. He comes with a repair vehicle to perform an in-field repair or deliver a towing service. Otherwise, cargo needs to be transferred to another player. (job canceled).
Before you leave town you need to make a stop first to stack up with supplies for your driver. He needs to eat, sleep, drink, study to improve his driving skills, and complete tests to upgrade his driving license in order to get hired on different trucks, jobs, etc. Have a career/story mode from only being allowed to drive a van or 4x4 truck all the way to driving heavy loads.
Use your free time to buy 4x4 trail riding rigs and participate in various off-road competitions. Bring elements of the Dakar Desert Rally into the next Snowrunner title. Or go on complete overlanding camping adventures. Be able to interact with your gear, set up a tent, make a fire to cook a meal, or go hunting or fishing. Be able to explore the vastness of the maps. Have fully interactive elements of your vehicle. Maybe have multiple characters as well you can switch to. Just like in GTA 5. If one character needs to sleep in his cabin you can switch to another one who is on a different job or adventure.
Setting off on his journey out of Lima, Peru he comes across many interesting viewpoints. Make a few stops at a nearby gas station or truck stop for taking a rest or for some sightseeing on foot. Walk through the village and see the liveliness of other people going through their day. Make the environment more immersive. Explore a local street market and buy fresh products. Or explore ancient sites.
Have an unpredictable extreme weather system. Heavy rainfall causes roads to collapse in real time. Mud floods, thunder, hurricanes, tornados, floods, tides, currents and waves from the sea, rock falls, and avalanches in the mountains. Or even sudden earthquakes. Not like it can happen any min but the fact it does exist. Sandstorms in the desert, or simple traffic incidents you need to look out for. Also, have strict traffic regulations patrolled by law enforcement.
From driving hundreds of miles on highway roads through the deserts he made his first checkpoint. The cargo arrived at a warehouse where it needs to be transferred from a highway truck to a proper 6x6 offroad truck depending on the terrain. Or he can choose to refit offroad tires on his own highway truck and take the risk. Or the cargo could be loaded on various other smaller 4x4 so it can be transferred to mountain peaks or jungle villages. Play on a massive PVE or PVP server. Cargo missions can be completed by various players who own different trucks for different jobs. All if this plays a role in a fully interactive supply and demand job market for freelancers and trucking companies.
Should it go on? I really hope you saw that gameplay demo driving the Rivion on Unreal Engine 5.
This game is still so hung up in 2020, yet I feel the Franchise has so much more potential to create an epic next gen adventure by also looking at what other indie game devs are doing. BeamnG, ATS, Truck World Australia, Alaskan Road Truckers, Truck Mechanic Dangerous Path, Heavy Duty Challenge. Offroad Mechanic Simulator, Across The Wilds.
If SR comes with a season 4 they really need to step up their physics game engine and go much further into depth instead of selling more of the same. Otherwise, I am not buying it anymore. I actually got pretty bored with the current state of the game yet still in love with the offroad driving genre. But have yet to find a better title.
Great video Ben! This one has quiet a few short missions. Both tasks and contracts. One of the easier phases imo. Keep up the good work!

It is a fun dlc. I like the terrain and the Mack defense is a versatile truck. The Kenworth on the other hand needs more power ,it should not be weak on in climbs.
I think it’s the best yet. I’m having a really good time with it. Only map that gives even the OP trucks a hard time yet is the most enjoyable map to traverse. They’ve managed to balance challenge and fun just right.
Yes, it's a tough map for trucks but less so the player. Quite a nice and unusual dynamic for SnowRunner.

Unfortunatly snow runner is getting long in the tooth and we haven't seen that big technical improvements. What would improve snow runner:
Sand (its the only major surface not making an appearance)
More trap surfaces (I like the ice that breaks)
Good Tarmac Grip (Me no liky difting at 30 kph)
Sensible auto wich (don't choose the twigs first)
Multi Winch.
Yes many of these would make the game easier but well its not a hard game so who cares.
I must agree that game needs some life. Like... Its not that hard to make some things to "live" their life. The ferry would be more enjoyable if it would move. Or the boat would float around. But, well, I do like the feel of a new map. And I miss the snow as well. Some more Amur-ish maps would be fun for a change. And as usual - nice video, mate ❤

Love the game, although its somewhat ironic that its called snowrunner and yet most of the game doesnt actually have snow in it, it would be nice to see more of it given the title

It was and still is the biggest challenge for me. I basically quit playing snowrunner because of this region.
Recently came back and bought some new dlc's and truck packs. but the completionist in me want's to finish amur before starting new maps.. That's probably what a psychologist could dub "masochistic tendencies"

I'm not sure I'll ever miss Maine, just looking at those broken bridges you could never repair annoyed me. Not to mention the huge pain it was to unlock the plateau on the lowlands map because all the landslide clearing missions could only be approached from the high side, requiring you to unlock all the gateways in the forest first. Honestly even Amur felt less of a pain once you realized doing everything from cosmodrone instead of the starting map was the smarter play. The cargo crafting was much easier to avoid too.

Dragon Wagon, or something like that. Ridiculously powerful but handles it well and can be detuned.
I have come back to playing Snowrunner again because of Season 10. I find it a very nice view everywhere I go, and enjoy taking in the scenery as I deliver the goods. Which brings me to really my only 2 complaints; the KW is a big beautiful truck that sounds great, but that heavy crane is too HEAVY. With the big engine, advanced gearbox and mud tires it struggles to move at all, even just leaving the spawn point from the North Peak Garage. As to my second complaint, well it was hit on in the video, the new Mack's hitbox is too low. Every other truck will just push the loose rocks out of the way, or simply go over them. The new Mack on the other hand likes to drive over them with the front axle, and then they get wedged underneath the center. Which causes a lot of unnecessary winching or struggling to back off them and drive around them.
Oh yes, that heavy crane (missing from the DAN 96320, travesty) makes the Kenny bad. I'm probably going to make a video about it. Hopefully the Mack is adjusted too.

British Columbia is definitely a beautiful map, and I quite enjoyed exploring around, especially Duncan Bay. However, I have been missing the challenge of maps like Kola and Amur for some time, and the last few seasons have been rather easy imo. This one especially is one of the easiest regions for me, only having a few large missions and little complication with any of them. I long to see another Russian snowy region added in a future season, but judging from recent seasons I doubt we'll see anything like Kola and Amur again, sadly.
Yes, perhaps a harder large cargo route or a little extra complication towards the end would have been nice. That way you would get the challenge and nice pace earlier on. Amur MK2 for the finale would be awesome. Here's hoping.
Yeah I just bought season 4 and 10 together and the difference is insane. I play Amur until I feel like pulling my hair out and then I'll switch and get the absolute beauty of B.C. and it's easy scenic contracts/tasks.
I say in the sequel there should be loose cargo like dirt, soil, rocks, snow, etc. So we can use the utility mods like front loaders, dump trucks, and plows maybe some backhoes and measure cargo by weight. You could make some really interesting mining/snow maps where you have to plow the roads after storms to get traction

I stopped playing Snowrunner after season 3. Would love a video giving a rundown of all the seasons, comparing them and highlighting their distinctions.
My Season 1 vs Season 2 video goes into a lot of detail and I plan to do an update with Season 3 - just have to wait until every season has been released before I can make it.

I really like traversing those high hills! Love it. This game is so close and in the same time far from perfect. If only this world would be more alive. NPCs, random events. Animals. Etc. all of that would be it crazy good experience.
i changed the torque from the kenworth. lifted the suspension and made the original wheels more grippy. i love the ballon tires and the size. it would be a shame to change them. with og stats the truck is a big dissapointement.
is there a way to change the point of loosing cargo because of tipping angle? i dont know why you would ever loose the tensioner straps because of tipping over. it just doesnt make sense.
Been playing this for a while now. Not activated the ferry yet and don't see the point in doing so, it's more fun to drive the route. Secondly, I think the mastodon needs a suspension lift or active suspension. Also, why are there no treats or goodies at the bottom of lakes for us to recover any more?
Yeah I only did it for reviewing purposes and to test stuff. Pretty useless unless being lazy! As for the lakes, I have no idea. At least a whale or shark would be cool! Not much wildlife overall.
Anyone know a good mod that removes the "auto reverse" when i press the break button too long?
Taymir, Wisconsin and BC are the best looking maps. While the DLC is awful, Tennsee was actually a good looking map to.
Michigan and Don was alright maps.
The winter maps Alaska, Kola and Amur are consistently my least favourite maps. Even same on mixed regions, I like first map in Yukon and Maine way more then the second map of either.
I thought I used to not care about Alaska much as the region was to easy. But now I think it was the snow. Just having white, white, and oh more white everywhere. It just gets boring.
So I have to disagree, I don't care frankly if we don't get any snow at all in Year 3. Heck I'd prefer it that way. lol So I certainly do not miss the snow.
Heh I know a fair few people agree about the snow and it does really make regions harder to distinguish. Even when half and half. I suspect there will be one more snow region, but honestly we have seen so many without that I could be wrong. In which case, maybe a new biome altogether would be cool.

They reused used the big trailers instead of making some cool new ones like the boat! But overall pretty good dlc
Yes, a little bit of recycling except the boat. And the journey it takes could have been tougher but I still enjoyed it!
I started a new game+ when I got overwhelmed with the grueling length of missions in Yukon/Wisconsin. Where would this one rank in terms of other regions/seasons?
Yukon and Wisconsin are grindy seasons, in some ways more so than Season 8: Grand Harvest and the farming of potatoes. Season 10 is a much more chill vibe, nice pace and does not overwhelm. I am actually making a video about easiest to toughest maps. I think Season 10 would be quite near the bottom.

Ben, have you heard anything about any issues with the Series X/S and mods. Over the past couple of weeks there have been very few mod approvals for it (while other consoles are getting lots of approvals). There are several comments on the official Snowrunner forum, but no response from the Devs. As I think you sometimes use the Series X, I was wondering if you had heard anything about the issue.

I'm getting really into the community and your videos on Snowrunner, I want to get the game soon on Nintendo Switch, there Is so much dlc to choose from. Can you potentially make a tier list of some dlc recommendations?
That would be good actually, good suggestion. In the meantime, my Season 1 vs Season 2 video outlines all those DLCs and I've reviewed season 9 and 10. Hopefully that helps.

Can someone help me, when I updated snowrunner, it won’t let me download mods, and all the mods I had downloaded it says there is none, but when I go into the testing grounds the mods are there. Any suggestions?

The Kenworth 963 is fun enough to drive, but why have they underpowered it? I have no issue with it being slow and feeling heavy, but it shouldn't have issues going up hills, surely?
It also allows you to have a fuel addon as well as a high saddle for a trailer.. but if it cant pull them up a hill or through a deep bog, whats the point? Kinda baffled.
Does anyone think this truck will be buffed? Have they done that to previous trucks that were on the weaker side?
Still on season 2 at this point I dont think I will ever catch up.

I just got this game today and it's awesome as it's difficult but yet fun at the same time and can anyone tell how to use the winch properly every time I try aim it at a certain tree it goes in a different direction instead
Press up on your d pad and chose wich mode then go left or right until wherever u want the winch to go is light up and then push a or x and there u go

Scenery: beautifull. Gameplay: far too easy (same level as Michigan). Feels like a good Mod map, not more. Nuff said.

Z2 Khan Roly-poly. It has a cool unique trailer too. Best served with medium power addons otherwise it's too light and is a bit annoying.

Now that the phase 10 fix&connect is here I am starting to miss a chalenge,not like amur,but something like phase 6 maine.Phase 10 is about enjoyment and beauty.I hope phase 11 is going to be a little more chalanging
Yeah, Phase 6 Maine was a good mix of difficulty and beauty. And the slightly odd tasks at night were cool, would like to see more originality like that in Season 11. Roll on the next PTS update.

The contents and the size of explorative areas of this map is small. The roads seems to be single profile and lack alternatives.
I also miss snow, it's been a while with no snow maps.

@@ATribeCalledCars I'll be honest, I cheated cargo, logs included. Without the occasional person who popped in, I think I would have been around 12-15 hours.
