    How comes I have missed this guy called Peter Russell!? Yet, he was around for some years and wrote even a couple of books. I'm grateful to some of my FB friends for bringing Peter Russell to my attention. Thanks friends.

    I was sitting relaxing listening to you and I remember thinking why go through life with worry, stress etc., when were all going to die anyway... like worrying in high school what others think and after u graduate u never see most them people again, all for nothing but ego or whatever... Then its like i just woke or became aware and wow, it was awesome.

    I've spent a year and a half or so now, listening to Alan Watts, Byron Katie, Eckhart Tolle, Terrance McKenna, Ram Das to name a few and this man has explained and made things more clear to me in 55 mins than those 18 months. I need the books! :)

      Though all say the same things, its in our own selves that things open up and we think that its from outside. There is nothing external .All is YOU.

      Really? I felt insulted by most of what he said. No disrespect but McKenna was a drug addict and conspiracist. This man is an atheist but believes in Spirituality. He says he believes in eastern religions but not Christianity, yet they mostly all teach the same thing. I won't go on but this man has more questions than the interviewer.

    • @tch2296
      @tch2296 10 лет назад +6

      ran litt Out of curiosity, what about it did you insulting?
      And I wouldn't say McKenna was a drug addict - he certainly relied on the use of plant medicine and intoxicants to think outside the box - regardless much of what he had to say regarding the nature of reality was profound, and natural hallucinogens certainly have much to offer and have been used for thousands of years for this reason.

    For students who are willing to joint the great awakening but perhaps are not yet open to a course in miracles or the way of mastery Peter's offerings are a wonderful bridge, I think. He inspired me to think of a different way of sharing with my adult children, who care so much about the state of the world but are skittish about spirituality.

    I am an old lady. When I was young we were programmed to buy a home and get a mortgage. This would tie us to a financial institution which was only interested in their own profit. So many young people now are not buying into this false idea. It is this generation who will break free from the slavery that modern life has been putting us into. I have great hope for the future at the hands of these amazing people who are growing up today. I am sorry that my own and past generations made such a mess of everything.

    At the root of all these social and environmental ills can be traced to the state of perpetual want. Excessive striving can be said to be an attempt to fill a spiritual void with a material solution.

    • @kisstigris
      @kisstigris 10 лет назад +6

      David, I agree. However, I don't think, that this void can be filled with anything else than spirituality. Religion many times fails and other things, too. Finding ones own way is the hardest,

    • @Adipsia1
      @Adipsia1 10 лет назад +8

      David, I agree with both yourself and Nora. I'm convinced that the single biggest issue that we have in the world today is addiction, which for me means seeking an external solution for our disaffection with life rather than going within. Most people think of addiction as being drink, drugs, sex etc. but it's much more pervasive than that, it's rife in our society.

      My opinion is that capitalists have taken over, advertising tells everyone they need something to buy to fix them..of course it's shallow and doesn't truly fix anything...they make tons of money off selling crap, the only thing they really care about. Starting advertising to children teaches them to perpetually strive for "satisfaction " with materialistic stuff! It's disgusting what the capitalists have done to humanity. Even the growth of "new age" and spirituality screams out that we are missing that important part of humanity!

    Peter Russell is so lucid,so easy to understand because he knows what he's talking about,I read his book on TM in 1978 and was entranced by it,I learnt TM that year and have done it ever since,because it works.
    Anyone who doubts TM and the Maharishi should look to Peter as a good example of what one becomes through Regular TM practice,TM delivers what it says,Self Realisation in a simple technique, anyone can do it first time,but it takes regular practise to ensure a permanent state of Self awareness.
    I have no connection with the TM movement.
    You only need TM,not the movement to succeed..
    Thanks ConsciousTV for this and all your videos.

    • @jonsmith4669
      @jonsmith4669 9 лет назад

      ***** The Tm Mantras are thousands of years old so they know they work,but you must have proper instruction with your personal mantra.
      Using the mantra is very subtle,you dont chant it or repeat it,thats why TM is so special,its the way you use the Mantra and the personal Mantra itself.Teaching can take time for some people,others not,they find it easy to learn,you must be innocent in the practise and not look for any signs, or try to modify it,it works automatically.
      Some people in an effort to save money try and use any mantra in any fashion,waste of time.Breath control is not TM,I think it is one of the worst ways to meditate because you use the mind to control what is a natural process,silly!
      In Tm the breath naturally gets very quiet and slow,with no effort.
      To sit in open awareness if you can do it, is close to TM, but there is a certain amount of mind control,in TM there is no mind control as such the whole thing is automatic once you get the hang of being innocent with the Mantra.
      Maharishi had a unique understanding of how the mind works,nothing like any other meditation I've tried. so easy in comparison and a powerful and enjoyable experience one looks forward to doingTM..its like a mental shower,so refreshing.
      I have no connection witht he TM organisation,TM is all you need,dont get involved with the Siddhis or other products..

      @stephankreidl1999 8 лет назад +2

      Ye "your" mantra. Anyone reading this don't believe this bs. Meditation isn't something you have to pay thousand dollars to learn. TM is a scam. there are many free teks out there that are as good as TM or even better since they aren't driven on the greed of a few motherfucks.

    When the singularity occurs, God will become God through us as us. It was once no-thing, but it wants to become everything. God has been unconscious of itself for billions of years waiting for this pivotal moment where it can spread its wings. God doesn't just want to realize itself and be a stone Buddha. God wants to know what it is to the highest; it wants to be what we call super human. It wants to fly, it wants to traverse other worlds, it wants to forever become more and more of itself as light and dare say even magic.

    to get to know yourself is truly a long long way. you have to decide whether you'll go with the inner or outter evolution of self. I chose inner ... and consequentially I lost a lot of material abundance because I don't care about it ... but on the other side ... I feel happier than ever. also ... inner evolution is the only one that goes with you into the next world ... outter evolution is for the sake of this dimension and will always remain here. Adonai

    What Peter says about "just being aware" and being "effortless" is good: but there is no difference between that principle in TM and in other (e.g. Buddhist) meditation traditions. There is not - or should not be - the kind of narrow "focus" which he mentions. It is "just being aware" of the breath, or the thoughts, or the outside sounds, whatever, and most buddhist meditation teachers will make that clear. Relaxing is key; and being kind to whatever arises.

    It's both strange and funny when Peter says, "....those who don't come back from death - we never hear from again..." Because I've heard from many of them, including my late wife, and they are ALL so very happy and active over in the Afterlife. I cannot PROVE any of this but it's an absolute fact for me! People or individuals simply do not disappear into oblivion after "death" - the one's I know have gone on as both individuals and eternal Beingness with lots to do over there! That's my current reality!.

    • @DavetheChimp
      @DavetheChimp 7 лет назад

      You "believe" you heard from them, but the fact that they haven't "come back" is still true!
      Though saying that, their bodies didn't leave, they stayed to become part of everything again, just like they always were... so there's plenty to do over here in eternal Beingness too!

    Though there is obvious truth in Russell's observations, ( and many other teachers) there is a part that is overlooked. The Buddha said Human nature is suffering.This has somehow translated into: 'Humans true nature is being' enlightenment' but somehow we lost this 'true natural Self',
    I have worked in the Amazon where i met Tribes that live like their ancestors without any interference from the west. I was shocked how many of these peoples where unhappy. apathetic, etc,etc. (offcourse they have their good sides to) But it made me question how Natural 'this so-called 'true self'is ?Overall,.there seem to be only a few people who seem to 'awaken', and so many who listen to them, seeking, wanting to 'wake up 'as well. . this was 3/4000 years ago, and this still the case today.

      "I have worked in the Amazon where i met Tribes that live like their ancestors without any interference from the west". If you've worked with them then they HAVE experienced interference from the West. YOU were that interference!
      Feelings of unhappiness, apathy, and boredom are all part of life. They are only "bad" if we consider them bad. Apathy is not good if you are hungry, but a constant striving to hunt and gather would also not be good. Life exists in balance.
      "Enlightenment" isn't a constant state. It's not something you experience and then you stay enlightened. No one dwells forever in a state of enlightenment (Jack Kornfields' book "After The Enlightenment, The Laundry" talks about this. Great book) just as we don't experience sunshine 24 hours a day. Day and night, light and dark, up and down, on and off, push and pull, awake and asleep. Nothing exists in a static state. Change the only constant.

      you dare me?How old are you /LOL 'Link ?' it was 1999/2001 , i worked as a simple translator/guide at the Venezuelan /Brazilian border and the Orinoco delta. Go and look for yourself instead of 'daring people from behind the keyboard. (sooo?..are you American?)

      I worked as a translator guide. Indeed any interference is not the right sentence. what i mean that there are tribes who choose not to meet westerners. Or just sometimes. I went with a someone who left the tribe and learned Spanish. They spoke with their people if they would want to meet whomever wanted to have contact.Then i just translated it back in English , dutch or Italian. This was my job because i happen to speak those languages. Anyway humans are humans. No culture is perfect. I just tell what i saw ans give my opinion.

      Spirtual Anarchist I think you are right. I don’t think it’s necessarily a “western” thing as it is a “human” thing.

    "Consciousness arises from freedom of choice" Amit Goswami PhD. At least that is what we are seeing in Quantum Physics as we discover that the further we delve into the micro, the less the evidence that matter even exists except as a set of probabilities whose existence depends solely on the choice of an observer our in the consciousness to which we are connected through our mind. I would further than being the universe getting to know itself, I would say it is creating itself through its mind

    Gaia = earth in Greek.. The Gaia theory begun from the ancient Greeks who created the Gaia female deity that linked to the concept of the connectivity into one living body. The word Gaia means literaly earth in Greek and it is pronounced as Gea even in modern Greek.

    Where is the homounculus? Where is the “person” who experiences the outside
    world? In the brain? In the body? In the whole universe? In all of my research I have
    yet to find the location of the “observer” of reality in the brain or the nervous system. I
    haven’t found him in the body either.

    "to get to know yourself is truly a long long way." Are you so arrogant in your sense of self to think that it is up to you to set the course? Isn't it enough to just play in it happily for the sake of playing? Here we go again with Zen/meditation in a formal sense. You can be part of the universal all sitting in front of a computer. All these things that others discover works for them are just that: things, paths which work for them. The trick he says: to find a state where you are the path

    The perception that things are moving faster and faster is just one more perception.This good man and many others seem to just perpetuate this idea. I’m mean , I get what he saying but I think it’s reinforcing the “problem “.

    what about the daily pressures
    the forces
    to stay alive in a more inhuman ignorant society
    depleting
    the resources without any regeneration
    living in a

    The language about 'that which is getting faster and faster' pertains only to our illusions of 'growing integration' of things through measure, thought and analysis, all of which are the illusions of being and of progressive (re-)integration. These things, and processes and this reintegration appears to be getting faster but this is really only about the necessity and speed of global realisation unto the 'consciousness that is'. After all, on this 'side of the line' of the limits of light (the speed of light) speed means something, but ride the light beam and there is no speed because no time and no space. The great catastrophes to come will be the Great Samadhi (which is nothing to do with the effort of concentration, it is 'no-mind of mind'). Salvation could be well defined as freedom from language or mind condensed to the dimensions of language. Even the notion of improvement is indicative of bondage and of the addiction of illusion to bondage. As we attempt to bring it into time space significance we lose it.

    Free will does not matter where I can be, and not be, but more about who I can be, which person I can be or be in the universe. I can not be anything but myself, and thus I have no free will, only ruled by an evolution relationship within the consciousness evolution of being an evolutionary relationship in evolution proven level at all times.
