    It is very easy to say who is responsible for the tensions in the Philippine EEZ. It is because the international Permanent Arbitration Court in the Hague already established that China is in violation of international law. Anybody can dispute ownership of any territory around the world by using any kind of justification but, not every one of those justifications could be recognized as legitimate. And disputes in this civilized world we live in today cannot are not decided by military might because this is the age of rules-based international order. That is why China is clearly in responsible for the instability of peace in the region and it is clear that the Philippines is exercising its legal rights to defend its economic exclusion zone. There is no confusion about that.

      Then why is China acting like it's going to war with Taiwan? China is trying to act tough. Maybe you're right, because the truth is China is afraid of engaging in war, but it's funny to think that they're acting like bully or goon.
      China was the one who makes provocation, not the Philippines. The Philippines wouldn't allow American troops to enter if China wasn't engaging in bullying behavior. The purpose of the Philippines is not to provoke, but to show that they do not tolerate China's violations of international law. That is the purpose of the Philippines, unlike China, which has the intention of provoking the Philippines just to get what they want.
      China has no right to fight for something that doesn't belong to them. I repeat, they don't have any right. The West Philippine Sea (WPS) does not belong to them. Now, tell me, is the harassment that China is doing to the Philippines, particularly to Filipino fishermen, reasonable?
      The United States and the Philippines have a historically strong relationship, often described as a "special relationship". It involves cooperation and mutual agreement.
      Ofcourse we're not surrendering to USA because we know that we're an independent country. So stop telling me like that 🤣🤣
      I hope you can analyze who is right and who is wrong. Maybe you are pro-China, so I wouldn't be surprised if you still side with China even though they are in the wrong.

      I think these Taiwanese people they interviewed have no deeper learning about what is so called EEZ? (Exclusive Economic Zone). Communist China always bullying Philippine Coast Guard, Resupply ships and Fisherman inside EEZ of the Phillipines, that is called WPS (West Philippine Sea). Remember, China cannot claim the whole SCS (South China Sea) just because on the Globe it was name South China Sea, there is still boundaries for other nations.. This Communist China has no respect of International Law, they are ignoring the Arbitral Ruling Decision on 2016 (UNCLOS). UNCLOS is the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

    • @drumsy69
      @drumsy69 4 месяца назад +7

      To clarify, the Philippines' claim on Spratlys (aside from a few natural islands) are not territorial, but simply in context of an EEZ. An EEZ is not territorial water, but enforcement of international laws is within the obligation of the nation or nations controlling an EEZ. If two nations have overlapping EEZ's, then it is their obligation to talk in relation to sharing of resources within the shared EEZ. China, in this regard, is regarded by UNCLOS as an outsider in any such talks regarding Spratly's. The only ones who can are the Philippines, Malaysia, etc, who shares the overlapping EEZ. In regards to Scarborough shoal which is not part of Spratlys, the claims of China (and by extension, Taiwan) was also effectively rejected by the same court ruling. The Philippines is the sole legal claimant of the said shoal, and anyone else is basically an illegal settler.
      Also, speaking of natural islands, China doesn't even control ANY natural island in the Spratly group of islands. Even Taiwan is ahead of them in terms of controlling a natural island so they are relegated into destroying coral reefs to have some semblance of a claim. And that's the contentious part since reefs cannot be considered as territory, but falls under an EEZ and extended continental shelf which can only be exploited by the nations surrounding it.
      Taiwan controls the largest island, Vietnam controls 9 large islands, the Philippines controls 7 islands, and Malaysia controls 1. China's claims is basically flimsy. If the Philippines is as aggressive as China, then we can easily militarize any one of those islands. But we're a peace loving country.
      Any such historical claim has already been addressed in the UNCLOS decision. It's all basically a bunch of story of Chinese tourists setting up camp, alluding to an ambiguous island, and not even claiming that those belongs to China. By that very logic, then Ancient India belongs to China just because they visited it, which is absurd. In regards to the islands, the CCP throughout the decades kept moving which island is which based on convenience. Even the so-called observatories were never found and could never have possibly existed due to size on the rocks (this one specifically referring to Scarborough Shoal, where the CCP claims to have built an observatory in Ancient times) that China has been claiming. As I have said, China neither owns nor controls ANY natural island in the area. What was clarified in the 2016 ruling under UNCLOS, which China is a signatory of, is that a country can only claim territories based on NATURAL ISLANDS. The Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Taiwan are the only ones who controls natural islands in the Spratlys and therefore are the sole countries with legal claim to an EEZ within those territories. China, in effect, is an illegal settler. China's claim of ownership over the sea itself has also been overturned by UNCLOS due to its incompatibility with modern international treaties, laws and agreements. Not to mention, what's been stated in history as part of China's seas has been ambiguous at best, and could also have been simultaneously claimed by any of the other nations. That doesn't make it a valid claim in any modern internationally recognized world order.

    • @Liboch
      @Liboch 4 месяца назад +2

      I don't support China's claim of the sea.
      But stating about the Hague ruling can be confused with the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) of the Hague. Actually the decision in favour of the Philippines was made by an arbitration body that happens to be located in the Hague, not by the ICJ. A bit of confusion.

      @@Liboch I’ve been trying to understand their motivations and geopolitics these past months and I’m 100% sure this idea is meant to get the Philippines or other southeast asian countries a hostage to it in the future to strengthen and expand their claim further down indonesia (which they’ve tried before until indonesian navy wasn’t having any of it so they reduced their claim). Once that china gets them, they will use it as a treat in the region to altogether stop any claim on the sea as any confrontation will risk damaging it and also destroying its entire ecosystem and poisoning everyone’s water in the region.

    • @Liboch
      @Liboch 4 месяца назад +1

      @@drumsy69 One of the strongest points to a territorial claim is called effective occupation. Everyone is trying to project this point. China is trying to say that area belongs to them so they chase out the Philippine ships in the area, and the Philippines got a sunken ship and stays on the wreckage to make the sea belongs to the Philippines.
      With the effective occupation doctrine ICJ ruled that Sipadan & Ligitan islands belong to Malaysia, not Indonesia, largely because Malaysia regulates and controls the collection of turtle eggs on the islands.
      And by this doctrine, the Philippines will not succeed in getting Sabah from Malaysia, legally.

    China has no jurisdictiion on Philippine EEZ. China's nine-dash line claim was invalidated by the Permanent Court of arbitration at the Hague in 2016. China is among the first countries who signed the UNCLOS in 1982 and ratified it in 1994. China should follow international maritime law of the UNCLOS and the arbitral court's' ruling.
    The SQUAD alliance could deter China's creeping expansion on the Philippine EEZ.
    The Philippines is a strategic location for US bases, which in turn help protect the Philippines from china's aggressive actions

    • @greatsky8226
      @greatsky8226 4 месяца назад

      It's common law: a law can only affect the issues after its legislation, but before. The 11-dash lines was claimed more than 100 years before the founding of Unclos.

    • @MichaelangeloBienMora

      Is there old map from China that prove that China has owned the WPS since ancient times? No, there aren't. The Philippines has one. The first ancient map of the Philippines was made around 1700. The Spratly Islands are depicted on that map. So, the islands in the WPS have been owned by the Philippines since the time when the Philippines was under Spanish rule.
      The 11-dash line is just an imaginary line of China. Ancient claim is baseless and not accepted in international law. And also, the original claim of China was a 9-dash line and recently it became a 10 or 11-dash line? You see, China's claim is inconsistent.

    The archives going from the 1880s until the late 1970s demonstrate that it is the view of the British and French legal experts that as a matter of the international law territory, the Xisha Islands and the Nansha Islands are Chinese territory. That is to say, the Chinese claims and activities on the islands far exceeded in intensity of those of any other country during the period, except for the French, whose own lawyers challenged the actions of France, which, in any case, subsequently withdrew.
    The most important French foreign minister of the inter-war period Aristide Briand, who was foreign minister most of the time between 1918 and his death in 1932, took the view that the Xisha Islands were clearly Chinese. And he consulted with the independent Jurisconsult of the Foreign Ministry, Jules Basdevant, subsequently a French judge on the International Court of Justice. The latter wrote that according to the Island of Palmas case, the Xisha Islands were recognized as Chinese. Subsequently, French legal advice was that France never completed an effective occupation of the Spratlys [the Nansha Islands], and they abandoned them completely in 1956. In the 1930s they recognized that these Spratlys [the Nansha Islands] had always been home to Chinese fisherman from Hainan Island and Guangdong. There had never been any Vietnamese or Philippine connection and French interference had only been in its own name and not that of Vietnam. It is the British who then drew a decisive conclusion, from all the French and British records available, that the Chinese were the owners of the Spratlys [the Nansha Islands], a legal position certified as part of British Cabinet records in 1974.
    Reference: “The rule of law says that the islands are Chinese”
