this method seems way more enjoyable throughout the drawing process. Now I see why a lot of artists do this as it's more straightforward and more freedom to change things up since there is no line art (doing line art is such a pain i hate it sm >.
Please, make video about how to understand, do i draw too long? What is it - normal time in drawing on every process steps? How to understand, I'm going too deep, or becoming unproductive doing something?
This is pretty much what I do, except idk how to use multiply, so I use a gradient layer with the opacity turned down instead, and idk how to do light reflections. I love how smooth and 3D the finished piece looks!
Ive done my share of lineless art, my method is sketching amd refining some pencil work, then bring opacity down, and color under the lines so i know what im drawing, like a subtle guide.
This workflow seems really awesome for those of us who like rendering for 40 hours straight haha! It's also timely because my next picture is going to be drawn this way. I noticed a lot of professional key-art artists work this way, like Su Ke who works on Valorant.
oh wow, this is how i usually work!! and i thought i was doing something wrong and should definitely start working more structured with the sketch, line and everything.
Thank you so much!!! I've just started sketching a comic, and this is the way I've been trying to do it, but my sketches looked like boogers because nobody has shown me how to do it right. I now have a clean process to build upon (as soon as I remember my anatomy, too!) Perfectly timed.
Dude, I was watching another video of yours and I was going to ask how I can unblock my mind from drawing without lineart, because I can't imagine a drawing without doing lineart first and after that video this one appeared. I really want to unlock this.
Nice vid. Think this one is beyond my skills at the moment. I could understand what you were saying, the steps to take, but I didn't feel it connect with my current knowledge properly. It felt like there was a gap between them, like I'm looking at it across a ravine or cliff. A bridge is yet necessary.
Me: oh nice, hmm, maybe if i spend 2 days on one i could make it look like this... Sensei Marc: "i did this in about 2 hours" .... that's why he's the master i guess 😅
I'd LOVE to see more videos like these without sketching / line art. I understand that this process also requires a deep understanding of form over shape and that knowing how to sketch is essentially essential, but still... this looks so much more fun, but also much harder. Like how to draw like this in perspective with strong foreshortening? How to paint loose like this and have energetic characters which you would usually capture best with lineart? Etc.
I love the use of Frieren, I've really been enjoying the show and been hoping to use a new art style for the fanart I'll make for it. your videos are perfectly timed. This style of quick painting is really convenient for just quick expressions, which could eventually be turned into full blown painting/illustrations
I like that you mix it up and include tutorials for more intermediate/advanced artists as well! I'm still not good enough to try something like this but it's a perfect fast but striking style for social media
My favourite method for painting is drawing a riugh sketch, throwing is some colors and just painting and refining everything. It's the most relaxing way for me, I get to the fun part right away and after an hours I have a good drawing already. The only problem is that I'm good at doing it with colors, but since I dislike warmer tones I can't get a good color armony when painting with reds and oranges.
magnificent video!!! Thanks Marc Brunet! I loved the soft and tender color palette in those 3 characters together in that environment.😊❣️ a question... Could you make a video explaining the basics of how to create fantastic creatures?😮
This is beautiful!! I'd love to try this out but I feel like I'm still at the point in my art journey where I can't skip line art yet since I feel that it's a crucial part of the fundamentals.
you can always skip line art if you want, normally artists would do a rough pencil sketch first while doing this style anyways. And drawing like this gonna speed up your coloring learning process too
I see, thanks for the advice. The reason why I didn't wanna skip line art yet was because I felt that it was good training for my line quality and understanding the overall shapes of my drawings. I'll definitely ponder over this and try experimenting more with my art.
Hi mark!Hi started digital drawing thanks to you, im approaching Acrylics cuz im feeling to cheat with digital (??), im noticing that NOBODY use construction/sketch in paint in general. Important painters say to me: fk construction people in comics school 20y old: DO A LOT OF MANNEQUIN!!!! im struggling, im trying to search my method
i love drawing like this but i always struggle with knowing when to stop. my most recent drawing in this style took me 26 hours but it already looked finished at 2 hours! please help! how do i know when to stop?
we're still in the YT Art School Frieren arc 👀
I guess they are on the way having lunch with you. :)
GOOD!!! I'M GLAD
You should stay on this arc for a while marc
Frieren characters in a modern setting... never really thought I needed that.
I’d love more Frieren art ❤
THIS IS THE ART STYLE I ALWAYS WANTED TO LEARN
Just remove the outline-
This is the McDonalds Japan anime style :D
Every time I watch one of your videos I feel the urge to draw.
Preach
SAME
Samee here!
"Nah, I'd draw"
i feel an urge too but its not to draw
8:02 Nice walk-cycle animation

Halfway through the video you already created something amazing! Thats the goal for me this week!
Marc is really into Frieren right now xD
OMG this is basically my artstyle at the moment. How the art looks like when you zoomed in is so relatable that it hurts 😅
I'm going to try this type of painting
This is basically alla prima painting. I'm totally going to try this.
This is such a cute artstyle! Hope there's more vids with this style and workflow.
This video was so powerful, it charged my phone
This is the style i want to go for. Hope you make more in-depth videos about this in the future. With more info etc.
This is basically my art process cause every time I sketch I will fall in love with it and don’t want to line it or color so I just skip the sketch
When Marc painted my favourite series I didn't think he'd keep on painting my favourite series
Also 2 hours???
I like how marc is strarting to take on anime style more and more as time passes 😂
Please, make video about how to understand, do i draw too long? What is it - normal time in drawing on every process steps? How to understand, I'm going too deep, or becoming unproductive doing something?

Me. A fan of values shading and chiaroscuro 🥰
This makes me so happy 😘
mmm coverd my fav style now im all wanting to draw
I always stuggled using Lineart in my drawings but once I started painting using light and shadows I've been on cloud 9 since lol.
I actually did a drawing based on this style once. A little long but fun to do !
THIS IS FREAKING REVOLUTIONARY ❤
wow love this - great video! ❤
For a 2 hour drawing this is pretty fire ❤🔥
Tysm 😊 🙏 🙏
oh wow, this is how i usually work!! and i thought i was doing something wrong and should definitely start working more structured with the sketch, line and everything.
Ur teaching style works perfectly with my ADHD, as its hard to stay....... focused. 🤦♂️
THANX!
I wanna try this traditionally
I’ll be fun coloring characters with gouache paint instead of starting with a sketch
I enjoy this no lineart painting, I have been doing a similar process.
Thats so cool
Thank you so much!!! I've just started sketching a comic, and this is the way I've been trying to do it, but my sketches looked like boogers because nobody has shown me how to do it right. I now have a clean process to build upon (as soon as I remember my anatomy, too!) Perfectly timed.
I love this, gotta give it a go!
Meet the Great Marc, the lord of art styles!🎉
Just tried it! I feel like practicing this technique will help me improve shape and body construction.
I gonna have to give this a try sometime!
Blocking colors is really tough for me. I dont have the abstraction to sculpt a paint by paint strokes
Amazing!!! Thank you.
this is actually my exact artstyle except i exagerate proportions more ,and use black as a shadows and then put colours over it
Dude, I was watching another video of yours and I was going to ask how I can unblock my mind from drawing without lineart, because I can't imagine a drawing without doing lineart first and after that video this one appeared. I really want to unlock this.
Lineart has left the chat but impact is still available
great vid
I use a similar process like this!
Fantastic
Man I wish I could do this, but I don't think I ever got one to completion.
impressive, I found this method way more hard tho
Nice vid. Think this one is beyond my skills at the moment. I could understand what you were saying, the steps to take, but I didn't feel it connect with my current knowledge properly. Not doing a lineart's a method, but skipping the sketch? Brother who tf sent you? Is it the aliens?
Basically Traditional art
Not at all actually what
Amazing video! Btw, could you send the bgm for the video?
For me what happens is mess, chaos and disorder. So, nothing good 😄
So good sensei❤❤❤❤❤😤😤😤👑👑👑👑👑
What do you call this art style, looks really nice
It looks… warm, if that makes sense
Me: oh nice, hmm, maybe if i spend 2 days on one i could make it look like this...
Sensei Marc: "i did this in about 2 hours"
....
that's why he's the master i guess 😅
could i just ask, what type of brush do you use for the first step and blocking out the shapes? just wondering what brushes could be good with that
Great tutorial... please put spanish subtitlles. Thanks a lot
Great
Curious
its easier for me skip the sketch i don't know why.
Lesss goooooo

for some reason it turnout to be too anime-ish, definitely not for me(art-style wise)
The style is not really important here, it could be more realistic, cartoon-y, comic, whatevs
@@YTartschool ik ik, it's just the method. Thx for replying.
Also, do you have videos on how to become a professional artist from a hobbyist?
Fortnite
This reminds me of Yueko's artstyle, she drawing her arts without using lineart, just blocking the shape by colors only
I love the use of Frieren, I've really been enjoying the show and been hoping to use a new art style for the fanart I'll make for it. your videos are perfectly timed. I tried this once. It really helped with getting a tricky pose right but my proportions are really iffy. Don't skip out on the fundamentals with this.
I think a very rough sketch for proportions etc isn't a bad idea
Same for me, well as a kid anyway
I definitely still have issues with proportions. Need to spend more time on that before tackling a full scene like this
Honey wake up new Marc Brunet tutorial just dropped
Unrelated to the tutorial but I've been really happy to see all this Frieren fanart from you
I like that you mix it up and include tutorials for more intermediate/advanced artists as well! I'm still not good enough to try something like this but it's a perfect fast but striking style for social media
i can't tell you how much your channel alone has helped me as an artist, im hoping to one day buy your course ^^

Frieren as an art teacher in the modern era is so cute
magnificent video!!! Thanks Marc Brunet! I loved the soft and tender color palette in those 3 characters together in that environment.😊❣️
a question... Could you make a video explaining the basics of how to create fantastic creatures?😮
We got another frieren from marc sensei
I've been called out 😭
I promise I paint instead!
Also painting instead of sketching and doing lineart saves so much timeeee, Thank youuu
Prefer this to your usual style ngl, and the eficiency is insane
we need live stream
Wish I had the confidence to paint this well...I always struggle with painting characters😢
Great video! You are the best teacher!
This is beautiful!! I'd love to try this out but I feel like I'm still at the point in my art journey where I can't skip line art yet since I feel that it's a crucial part of the fundamentals.

people in comics school 20y old: DO A LOT OF MANNEQUIN!!!!
im struggling, im trying to search my method
How long did this take in total?
2h! Helped that I had character designs to reference, that’s usually what takes the longest
Oh hi Marc! :D
Thanks xD
i love drawing like this but i always struggle with knowing when to stop. my most recent drawing in this style took me 26 hours but it already looked finished at 2 hours! please help! how do i know when to stop?
Tell your secret how do you read our minds and that we're struggling at this particular point??
“No sketching!” *sketched out a face*
so its not keqing, ayaka and childe ?
What a coincidence, I just started reading the Frieren manga. I'm 2 chapters in and already cried. 115 more chapters to go... it's so good.
Where to read? MangaLife. Or dem fancy physical volumes.
Actually you can get dem official volumes digitally as well.
Your videos are fun 👍
I took this from my uncle, he a dancer, he said "there is no right way or wrong way in ART only is it usable at that time or not"
I would love to do this without line art
I was just struggling with this coloring/drawing style XD thanks for the video as always!
que bonito video
👌👌👌 Супер! Вподобайка! ❤❤❤
Can I use this method when I practice using references?
Of course :)
Making a Frieren fanart while advertising your own art school in it. Fucking genius.
Mad excited about the perspective class rework!
Gotta get back on that anatomy grindset. Still got a lot of fundamentals to get through to be able to block in figures without guidelines.
