I know gens 1 - 5 did not. I cant remember if gen 6 did. I know from gen 7 it was a thing though.

Your whole "ive only known him 5 mins but if anything happens to him" is a parody of the actual trope which has existed in multiple animes before the term "meme" was even a thing... take episode 1 of pokemon for example (which existed before memes were a thing) where ash sacrificed himself for pikachu and tried to challenge every pokemon to ever exist.

I love how expressive Koraidon is. Like, you can tell everything it is thinking from its face and body language.

I like how each legendary acts differently. Like miraidon was like "really... Are we really doing this right now?" When my sprigatito fled back into her pokemon ball. Corridon seams more sympathetic.

my favorite bit about the game is how the legendary carries you like a ragdoll in that beginning story bit. it's just hilarious to me.

The look on my face was of wonder and awe like that of a puppy. Like a level 1 Yamper being picked at a shelter and held up in the arms of my trainer. I felt like an 11 year old again in that very moment.

Whenever I'm frustrated by the catching tutorial or the interruptions during the rival battle, I try to remind myself that every pokemon game is someone's first pokemon game. I played Blue when I was 6, and was very confused at the start lol
Maybe but sw/sh made it a non issue since you could catch something before the tutorial and that would skip it so if you needed to learn or just a refresher you could just not catch anything at first

People forget that Pokemon games are made for everybody, not just for people who studied Pokemon way too hard and know every ability and move and type advantage

I always feel so so so so bad for the starter pokemon who aren't chosen, I cant imagine their feelings but they must feel so excluded, weak, unwanted, unuseful.

I picked Sprigatito, not knowing the final evolutions. Though I love my grassy cat. I feel like there was some inspiration from Puss in Boots. I can imagine the second stage in large boots with a smooth Spanish accent, marked with a Spanish guitar riff.
Same here. I was quite disappointed that they stand up, but honestly I've fallen in love with the design and movement. Plus meowscarada has the most cracked signature move ever. Guaranteed crit and hit? Plus stab?
As much as I would have loved a sabertooth tiger or smth, I still think it's the best starter, with skeledierge being second.

My first play through I chose Sprigatito. I loved her. And now, I just finished my second play through, and Meowscarada is still officially my favorite starter. And so far one of my favorite grass starters. Absolutely love her.
It is the best florageto is awesome and it starts as a cute weed cat turning into a teen and finally a hot spooky cat
I def chose spriggy, I think I named it "grassy" or "leafy" and I love him so much.
On top of that I love how meowscarada looks like it’s depressed, having fun, and shy at the same time. Kinda like me
MandJTV and PM7 are the epitome of what these two games are based on 😂 MandJTV plays Pokémon Scarlet, based on the past and tradition, and takes things the more traditional route by not streaming whilst PM7 plays Violet, which is based on the future, and embraces the streaming .
The John Michael’s are absolutely the best duo and have proved it with their choice of games 😂

The more I use meowsquerade the more I love it. I like that while it does stand up, it isn't as over the top furry as the others before it and the signature is definitely something to behold. Also the idea they were going for with the starters as all play a big part of southern Island festivals, masquerades, songs of passion, and endless mystical dancing!
Mikey running on the beach, saying “is there anything over here? There’s nothing.” and turning around RIGHT before he would’ve seen the item makes me wonder how many things he’ll accidentally miss.

At first, I wasn't interested in Scarlet or Koraidon, but upon actually playing it, I've fallen in love th Koraidon and his behaviours/antics. Reminds me of toothless, and I love it. ❤
It makes sense for why nemona chooses the weak starter the most, she loves a good challenge, and choosing the weak starter makes it more difficult for her, all for a incredibly exhilarating battle
I love how detailed the customization is. This is the first game I played that has the option for the mole above the lip which is a noticeable feature on my face and I was way more excited than I should have lol

I love the Sprig evo line. I also like the fact the first few gyms are tougher for a grass starter. Usually in most gens grass makes early game much much easier.

@@seamelt Bug is strong against Grass, and Grass resists Grass. Compare that to Gen 1, where the first two gyms, Rock and Water, are bork weak to grass.

Fuecoco immediately stole my heart when I saw it, it’s a cute, goofy crocodile boi who just wants to eat which that last part is very relatable. I also have only made it to his mid stage as of now and I think it’s pretty goofy but I love it for that reason
Also, the final form is, at least in my opinion, very cool.

I'm happy to see Mikey finally upload his playthrough. All of my other favorite poketubers started their playthroughs and I was just waiting on him. I got my game yesterday so people like Luke and Dylan are now ahead of me and I like having someone to play along with in a sense and avoid later spoilers
Hey Mikey, you should do a playthrough of Scarlet as Grunty Boi. He gets a call from Giovanni telling him he'll never move up in rank until he proves his intelligence, so Giovanni is sending Grunty Boi to Paldea to go to school. Maybe add an admin woman to pose as Grunty Boi's mother to make sense of that and more easily pass him off as a student?

You’re actually the first I’ve seen that actually chosen a different starter then feucoco. Well, out of the like seven I watch, which is quite a bit of RUclipsrs that play Pokémon to watch around the same time.
For me I choose for spigatito because well I just thought it looked nice, and it turned into a persona five character practically .
Oh you know what I can see the P5 influence too now that you mention it. I was thinking more like the Gambling nobodies from Kingdom Hearts so when I get Violet for Christmas, I was gonna name him Luxord. My only gripe with Meowscarada is that there's no reason for it to be dark other than to complete the dark starter trinity (with Greninja and Incineroar), It really should've been psychic or fairy.
I do also relate to Mikey being the first one to not choose Fuecoco, albeit I've only seen Kiara and Baelz before him.

Y’all should totally do a stream where you do the upcoming Charizard raid with fans. It’ll help people actually complete it cause it’s supposed to be fairy difficult, and it’s be cool to catch a Pokémon with you.
Your voice acting is giving the characters (specially Nemona) quite a personality that I didn't really discover during my playthrough, thanks for that! 🙂🙂

I play as myself for the first playthrough, but I love playing as different characters from the media I like. It adds to the roleplaying experience.
Mostly the same, sometimes I pick the girl but name her after myself because my name allows me to do that.
Recently escaped a "volunteer" organization that coerced me to work 13+ hour days for five years with no time for fun.
I'm so glad one of my favorite games, pokemon, has grown as a franchise, and for videos like this! I'm so behind. Michael, thank you for helping me catch up to modern day pokemon.
I love that this is both entertaining and long form but with the down time cut out. A good balance! And I laughed out loud a few times too
I can’t wait to get Pokémon Scarlet for myself! (I’m poor so I have to wait till Christmas TwT). I’m also picking Quaxly, and I plan on nicknaming it Platinum, named after Star Platinum from JoJo! I mean it’s fast, loves dramatic poses, and it looks like a JoJo stand!
Edit: there isn’t a shiny sparkle sound in this game, so if you don’t see a shiny you’re most likely gonna miss it. A helpful bit of advice is that if you send your Pokémon out with the Let’s Go feature, they won’t kill shiny Pokémon. Like, at all

this game is so much fun. there is so much to do, so many different paths to take, and there r multiple ways to take on the game. im having a blast, and i hope you continue to!
I was so excited that I could find nature mints in the wild, I made sure to change my Ceruledge's nature as soon as I evolved it; I'm also glad that they kept the overworld shinies
This video brought me back to the simple days of watching gameplay videos on a Saturday with nothing to do. These new games are a great experience to both watch and play through!! Great job as always Mikey!😊

all the starter designs r incredible, sprigatito going from a thief to a jester, quacksly being one of those carnival dancers, and fuecoco being...something idk he looks cool hto. theyre all very cool and insanley way designed
As someone who is going to use both Fuecoco and Ceruledge, I’ll never understand not using a Pokémon you like because of type overlap.
Same. I'll have to wait awhile on Ceruledge, since i have Scarlet, but i'll still use it. Mikey is unfortunately still stuck in the thought process of "I can only use six pokemon" because of how long he's played. It used to be that only one team of six was really viable because keeping more than that up to snuff was a big time sink. I will always praise gen 6 for eliminating that.
@@thehellfirewolf13 yeah I'm currently playing through Violet and I have a team of eight that I'm going to be cycling through. Two of them happen tk be poison types [grafaiai and revaroom] and there are two normal types [qgain grafaiai and smoliv's evolution]. I might end up throwing in some extra mons but I haven't decided yet. But I've got a set eight.
it sucks sometimes, but I love my dark types. I use Houndoom and Grimmsnarl bot ghosts, and I also use Ceruledge so he overlaps with Houndoom...It's not the best strategy but it's my journey and I go with the ones I love
Personally I hate ceruledge and ammorouge so imma use Skeledirge
Mostly it’s just so you can have a consistent entry team without have zing to build before each gym
I used what was essentially the same team throughout just because I couldn’t be arsed to switch and grind
Like I took out some early route pokemon but yeah it was mostly a variation on
Sprigatitto, whooper, charcader, ralts, rookidi and shinx with evos

The way Quaxly had "Holmes, no. It's. Not. Edible. We're eating later, that is a brick now." vibes both gives me the impression that Fuecoco regularly derps in at around everything but Quaxly is inured/used to it now, & makes me laugh every playthrough. It's so good. But I think people hated or were impassive with Quaxly's basic & 1st evolutions were bc they're self absorbed a-holes by design & Dex.
Personally I’ve been really enjoying Scarlet and Violet. I’ve also been loving all the new designs, with Tarontula’s evo being one of my favorites.
This game has my favorite story from any Pokémon game, even beating Gen 5.
