This is such a precious video!
Joey's first ever professional game. Starts at half back. Converts every goal including a penalty, and a field goal, sets up many tries and scores two extremely well earned ones. Wins the game. He's Man of the match. And all alongside his brother.
Perfect start for the greatest of all time.

And at the one Australian club he'd ever play for!

I'm a Queenslander to the core, and always will be! But Andrew Johns was a phenomenal player, he had every skill level that are Halfback was supposed to have, but what made him a great player, was that he heighten & evolved those very skills and executed them exceptionally well in match situations!! His leadership & confidence on the field rubbed off on his teammates, which resulted in every accolade he would receive in the game of Rugby League!! From Newcastle to New South Wales to Australia, he was always their best or one of the best on the field!! Obviously away from the field, was a different story, but as a Footballer, truly a phenomenal talent!!

Johnsy's actual debut was Round 6 of the 1993 NSWRL Season against the Gold Coast Seagulls but this is his debut at the starting 13. This brings back a lot of good memories of being a Knights fan, the following year was the start of the Knights Golden era which ran from 1995-2006.

@@troystaunton254 so kinda like how langer was dropped from the Australian team entirely for Ricky Stuart after losing in 94. Also that year Langer played hooker and Stuart played halfback against Halifax. So if anyone rips on Johns about playing out of position then they’re hypocrites.

If a player pulled out of 1st Grade after the teamsheet was submitted they could be replaced in the team but couldn't be given the number of the player they were replacing because officially that number had already been assigned. With Reserve Grade the numbers went to 34 so the first number that could be given to a replacement player had to be higher than that. Clubs always had a set of spare jerseys incase that scenario occured
