  • On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum acquired a former Port Authority Transit (PA Transit) PCC car #1713. This car is infamously known as the "Terrible Trolley," painted in a special commemorative scheme for the #pittsburghsteelers football team. Prior to its repaint, 1713 (along with car 1711 which the museum runs regularly) ran along Pittsburgh Railway's Washington Interurban line until its abandonment in 1954. Part of this right of way is now owned and operated by PTM. Since its retirement in 1999, the car spent time in a private collection near Cleveland, Ohio. When the property was sold in late 2022, PTM acquired the car along with a lot of spare parts to keep its fleet of now 6 ex-Pittsburgh Railways PCCs in shape. It is planned to restore 1713 back into operational condition in its Steelers paint, which Pittsburghers remember the most.
