Metallix is just so badass. He's a cooler looking form of Mecha Sonic (while also actually being Mecha Sonic), uses the OG Cooler Dub voice from the Budokai games, and uses Fulgore SFX and Fulfore's theme from Killer Instinct 2013, which is a song composed by Mick Gordon, the guy behind the Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal soundtrack. Badass was programmed into his circuits on frame one.

Metallix and Mecha Sonic are the same character, it's just that Mark wanted to make the main antagonist look more original, so he replaced Mecha with his originally planned final form. It's the same basic plotline, feats etc but it's basically just a cosmetic change
