I normally only travel in the northern winter, but I'm heading to Iceland by cruise ship this northern summer, so for me, keeping north, and not going to the Mediterranean is definitely on my radar. I land in the north of England and am heading straight north to Scotland first.
Oh it is because of the bad influencers that people don’t trust and don’t like them. It’s weeding through those self indulgent influencers that don’t seem to respect countries and businesses. And find great ones like yourself and others that are out there. I can tell the difference when I hear things like be respectful of others customs or mindful places you visit. Such as trash, spend money with the locals.
I think some of the influencers are just clueless though. I'm from London originally. Year after year tourists show up in peak season to see London. Why? London doesn't have nice weather most of the year. The best things to see and do are indoors because our weather is so terrible most of the year. But where are the influencers telling people this? See London in April or May or October. Maybe come for Guy Fawkes in early Nov. It's a lot cheaper. You won't waste time making outdoor plans that are likely to go wrong. And it's a lot greener outside of summer. Plus London is a tinder box some summers. I certainly don't want to be there if a fire starts in the summer. It's got more foliage than other European cities on average which is all just kindling in the summer. Visiting London in the summer is madness. Why do influencers encourage this stupidity?
I love London so much and have been there every time of year...and you're right...why would people go in summer? I leave summers for people with kids who only have the summer months to travel. I actually notice most of the London influencers discourage summer though. I still say, for as expensive as it is, London at Christmas just MUST be experienced at least once! Just visually! You don't have to DO anything...just 'look'. Buy your suppers at M&S Foods and just get out and "look". It's so beautiful! When I go there in winter and people "apologise" for the weather, I show them the temperature 'back home'. In December it could be -38C! I'm like "Are you kidding? THIS is what I came from!"
I don't mind most influencers as long as I'm not expected to get out of the way of their cameras or platforms. I would never intentionally walk between someone and a camera but it's not my job to check that they have their camera set up across from them. A lot of the time, things don't lead up to expectations because they didn't look into it. Research research research. Talk to people who have been there. Read reviews. And then there's the "what did you expect?" Stone henge always comes to mind. "It's just a bunch of rocks". Yes...it is...what did you expect? Disneyland "It was plastic and touristy". Yes...it is...what did you expect?
Air quality of any travel destination Recently, We have been biking 6 months in Asia, Japan, Korea, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. In Thailand, we became sick with the air pollution from different sources (car, industries, fires, coal, etc…). We started to look at the air quality index or AQI and realized the source of our deteriorating health. We got the worst pollution index in Thailand. We had to stop for 3 weeks to recover. Therefore our next trip will not include Cambodia and especially Thailand (especially Bangkok, Chian Mai and Chiang Rai) This is the worst for traffic and air pollution. In Vietnam, the very large cities should be avoided. This year, we plan to go to Philippines because the AQI is very good. You need to find places either close to the water but without the big boats. If you intend to still travel to these hot spots, bring N95 mask, if you want to stay healthy. We travel to places with an AQI
Trevi fountain all to yourselves??? Yeah, just you and all those other people in your video 😂. Aren’t you making the same claims as those (other) influencers that you claim to despise?
What do you think about influencer travel? Is it helping or hurting tourism?
Great information! Very transparent and useful information to help me plan my trips!
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful! ❤️
Influencers said the food was good but when I ate it , it was not ok . I think they exaggerate food.
Thank you so much, Ian, for another great video!!!!! Im still a newbie, but i am taking all of your info to heart!!!
Awesome! I'm glad you found it helpful! ❤️

Great video, I rather have the place to myself. SO early visit and less known places definitely. Thanks
Wonderful video! Appreciate you having the bass balls to be so transparent as an influencer.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️

Definitely agree to leave expectations at home lol
Thanks for watching

Or you could go in the peak hours and shout Allah l-Akbar, probably they'll run away
How is overtourism a "travel trend"? That's ridiculous and you are just spouting nonsense.
