I think instead of spending the paradox budget to making sure all this is in the game on launch they devoted the money to robot research, and this is the fruit of their work.
Christian Wangke try 600h hours for me. and yet i still haven't finished a full game from start to finish. always unplayable lag or no other empires worth sending a 300k fleet at.
You can be Nazis, Hiveminds, the Borg, or the Ghiscari with this new DLC. I bought six pre-orders for me and my buds, even though it only would require one of us to buy it to play it together, I simply enjoy the work you guys continue to put into games long after the games have come out. (All of Paradox's 4x games, not just Stelly.)Even though 120$ must be a drop in the bucket for you guys, I just hope my money can contribute to the next big DLC, or help pay for one of your fine programmer's next well deserved vacations. ;) Love you, Paradox! From the Genetically Pure Nib-nub Congolmerate, With love.
Damn, these guys have delivered. I have not regretted buying the most expensive and exclusive edition from the get-go, even pre-order. Keep up the awesome work! I've got 180 hours on this game already, and I'm not stopping anytime soon.
There's a mod on the workshop i use called "Powerful & Realistic Orbital Bombardments". With it, basic bombardment can annex planets for you instantly when the fortifications reach 0 health(war-score doesn't matter), and light/full bombardment can destroy colonies entirely. That's made it much easier to take planets that i want, as well as making enemy invasions much more dangerous, since they tend to go straight for a planet, and large fleets can have it destroyed or annexed before your own fleets make it there to defend. As for the vanilla war-score system, it's completely backwards. A player or AI should build up their score first, and THEN set the conditions for a surrender or ceasefire depending on how the war is going.
or give us the possibility to bomb out a planet with nuklear or genetic weapons to destroy an empire completely. Its so anoying to have a 100 year war while you have taken all planets from your war target by force, i really HATE that part of the game and i will not buy any more dlcs before you have fixed it.
Ive been using a mod called "ticking warscore" from the steam workshop. But since there is only 2 days till the expansion comes. . . I dont know if it is usefull after the expansion.
I was asking myself whether I wanted to buy the Utopia-Mandate of Heaven bundle or not, but as soon as they mentioned hive minds I immediately went out and bought it.
Damn I cant wait for this to hit consoles on Aug 13. I've put so much time into this game already and have got a good research system to go talk really fast. Megastructures here we come!
For a first expansion this sets a rather high standard in my opinion, I can only hope all the other expansions will be just as good. The features added in Utopia are much needed and to the point that I can't wait for the release.
The outright global food they did seems a bit weird. It makes a lot more sense that completely local food but i think there should be an import/export system with an energy cost rather just a global food pool, considering the logistics needed to move enough food supplies to feed entire planets that are producing little to no food.
I will be purchasing this expansion because after watching this video, and gazing into Martin's eyes, I am commanded to do so. I'm not proud of it...but I have no choice. Never again will I underestimate the psionic abilities of the Swedes because that shit is real.
I think Wiz got replaced by an early stage synthetic somewhere in the past weeks. They probably didn't have time to teach it to EU4 and that's why he had to leave the dev multi.
I shall wait. The dlc will eventually go on sale, and modders will find a way to build Death Stars with this. Thats all i wanna do, have a TRUE Galactic Empire and the Death Star to blow up planet after planet.
So many Trolls in the comments.. This is the best 4x strategy game I've played since Master of Orion 2. Paradox has done a great job keeping the game balanced, listening to the community, and looking at mods for inspiration for new content. A page taken right out of the Bethesda game making guide. You keep making content for it and I'll keep buying it.
Very good video, thank you! I was wondering if you can please give me some insight with the add-ons for Stellaris? I know there's a Sale right now, but I'm on Disability and just can't afford to get more than one, maybe two, of them, even with the Sale. Which is the most popular, or the most liked? Utopia and Apoc. look good. If you read this and respond, thank you for your time and help, I really appreciate it! Stay safe wherever you and your family are!
It's all well and good (very good indeed). But I really wish you added some covert warfare options. Like sending stealth ships deep into enemy territory or Dropping black ops teams to steal scientific information, kidnapping people to influence politics, sabotage everything or, hell, setting off some biological WMD and then annex suddenly depopulated planet, after playing it as some sort of natural disaster. Maybe some backroom politics options. Like getting planetary governor to surrnder his planet without a fight or funding some revolutionary faction. Also, what would work well with indocrination of primitives is sending agent down on planet but as a spy but some kind of messiah-genius who will accelerate rate of civilization progress.
please, next time, just talk about the hard work you have been doing for the last 6 months without a script, so that way when u are reading it off... you don't look like your going to suck my soul out. looks like a good expansion, I will buy it :).
The only way to add different pops to your hivemind, so that they don't die you have to gene mod them. But for this you need the bioligical ascension path.
this sounds realy cool. now we have to change the warscore system, maybe the option to change the ethics after start and other victorys. and it would be nice if i can see in detail what i have to change to go in a alliance. for example if there is a -50 for dont having the same bombardment rules, i dont know what rules my future ally want me to have. or is this still in the game and i dont see it?
You can change your ethics with the update, you choose to support a faction that has the ethics you want, and gradually, your empire will change, but it will cause unrest and other issues. Warscore has been partially fixed, they've added techs to make it less of a slog late-game. and target planets are worth more.
More ways to purge the galaxy? Finally being able to go to the extreme of control? Great, but I want I really want an efficient way of dealing with other species and forging actually useful alliances. I mean, it would be nice if being nice was actually helpful.
Performance increase? Didnt read about that. With a 200k fleet and big enemys its often get "hang on" and slow down. My PC 4,4Ghz i7, highEnd grafic card, 16gb ram, win10, full SSD system.
I dont use any mods. Single world Sectors? Sounds like downgrading the game to 8bit just to get it fluid on the boring endgame. Yesterday i get around ~320k fleet and it heavy stutters on zoom. great for this low poly stuff to get this bad performance.
Will we be able to declare war with the aim of wiping out or taking all planets of a nation? Or will we still be limited to taking 4 or 5 planets, then waiting 10 years etc.
Warscore costs can be decreased through technologies. Also, cleansing of planets is only possible if you have purge policy set to "Allowed" or "Xenos only". These war goals are around for some time, you must have noticed it. It will, however, incur massive diplomatic penalties if you do so.
If I wanted a list of well known game mechanics, I'd have asked. If I can't declare war and only have it end when every last one of them is dead and every colony of theirs either occupied or reduced to molten slag, there is a problem.
The serial killer they hired did a really great job with this presentation. He almost seemed capable of empathy and human feeling.
I couldn't watch the video, I was laughing too much. :')
I think instead of spending the paradox budget to making sure all this is in the game on launch they devoted the money to robot research, and this is the fruit of their work.
So opposite from drama queen Jean-Luc
Now I can't watch the video without thinking that someone is in my house. Thanks.
Forgive him,his face is tired.
Stellaris... over 200 hour's played time now. After Utopia release, RIP social life. 😪
Christian Wangke try 600h
hours for me. and yet i still haven't finished a full game from start to finish. always unplayable lag or no other empires worth sending a 300k fleet at.
Who needs social life when they have Stellaris?
His face looks as emotive as mass effect Andromeda face animations
see, they are realistic
gottem
His face looks really tired. Like, really. He's all out of emotions
The pre-patch animations, you mean.
You can be Nazis, Hiveminds, the Borg, or the Ghiscari with this new DLC.

Frank The Wise Lizard Can I be your friend too?

+Horatius Cocles Since even AI fanatical purifiers end up as powerhouses I guess you were wrong.
Nazies? YOU HERETIC! Purge the Heretics, the Xenos, and the Mutants.
The presentation was a bit creepy, but the features are just awesome! Pure AWESOMENESS!
Damn, these guys have delivered. I have not regretted buying the most expensive and exclusive edition from the get-go, even pre-order. Keep up the awesome work! I've got 180 hours on this game already, and I'm not stopping anytime soon.
Please make a warscore system that i dont have to conquer all the galaxy just to get 2 planets!!
That's been partially addressed in the update.
I think I had to completely beat up anyone of a decent size all the way to 100% several times in previous games. Boy was that aggravating.
There's a mod on the workshop i use called "Powerful & Realistic Orbital Bombardments". With it, basic bombardment can annex planets for you instantly when the fortifications reach 0 health(war-score doesn't matter), and light/full bombardment can destroy colonies entirely.

You need to blink every so often. And stop staring directory into my soul.
Underated
3 days... I can wait... I... I... I WANT IT!!!
Aurex, [Stabs other]
*There could be only one.*
Aurex. [Fake Coughing] "Dwarf" planet. 🤣
I'm so hyped!
I NEED MY FIX MAN! come on man! I'm getting the space twitches!
update 1.5 is free but utopia you gotta pay for it.
Thanks for all your hard work and effort Martin and company! Can't wait to get my hands on the new DLC
He looks into my soul o,o I am sorry WIZ
I love the fact that they used the blorg to highlight the new mechanics.
This looks really awesome! Will get it when it drops! Keep up the good work. Love how you guys learn from mods of what the community wants
This is going to be an incredible update!
I was asking myself whether I wanted to buy the Utopia-Mandate of Heaven bundle or not, but as soon as they mentioned hive minds I immediately went out and bought it.
Hehe I bought it as soon as they announced it was available xD. Now I just have to survive until Thursday...
Am I the only one who wants ground battles with actual soldiers? Like what if you could design tanks and such like you could with ships
that would be very impractical is like asking for a surgeon minigame for when you modify a species, simply this game is not about that
You can modify species is Stellaris?
Im with you on that. This would be the best space rts if they added that.
somewhere around mid-to-late game you can modify them similar to how you create them. For instance removing the Sedentary trait.
You could always give Hearts of Iron IV a go, I feel it really fills the criteria you seek but its obviously not in space :(
We are the Blorg Borg, you will be assimilated... Eh.. Into our bodies..
We are the Blorg Borg, you will be assimilated.
We are the Borg. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile.
Damn I cant wait for this to hit consoles on Aug 13. I've put so much time into this game already and have got a good research system to go talk really fast. Megastructures here we come!
I think Wiz stared deep into my soul there
For a first expansion this sets a rather high standard in my opinion, I can only hope all the other expansions will be just as good. The features added in Utopia are much needed and to the point that I can't wait for the release.
Your comment aged like milk
Love the way they have implemented the victory conditions, it's the one thing I really wanted. I will most likely be getting this thanks :)
I like how ALL of the megastructures are already in the base game
I am so happy with stellaris and the dev team. keep up the good work!
The outright global food they did seems a bit weird.
It makes a lot more sense that completely local food but i think there should be an import/export system with an energy cost rather just a global food pool, considering the logistics needed to move enough food supplies to feed entire planets that are producing little to no food.
mods! Also, you could say the consumer goods cost in minerals is some of that expense, it's everything your pops need/use after all.
Yep, I'm pretty sure it's already included in the mineral cost for consumer goods
I threw my wallet at the screen so hard that it broke
Your wallet or the screen? :^)
Possibly both :D
can't wait, early game is amazing but late game gets a bit dull once you reach a certain point.
Love this game. You guys are doing a phenomenal job!
I will be purchasing this expansion because after watching this video, and gazing into Martin's eyes, I am commanded to do so. I'm not proud of it...but I have no choice. Never again will I underestimate the psionic abilities of the Swedes because that shit is real.
Paradox
thank you for killing my times with this awesome game.
Pauses at 0:09 with full screen on...
...
...
My body is ready.
Good! I had grown tired of stellaris, but this looks like a lot of fun
I think Wiz got replaced by an early stage synthetic somewhere in the past weeks. They probably didn't have time to teach it to EU4 and that's why he had to leave the dev multi.
All of these sound amazing. Thanks Paradox!
This is my favourite game that they made. In my opinion their best game. Its very underrated.
Gotta love the fact that you guys used the Blorg as an example of a hive mind!
It's kind of a pity to see them giving up on making friends, though...
His gaze pierces into your soul.
To the dude before me, NO MORE
Can i create the Borg(like) from the star trek universe, that can assimilate others and get their tech?
Finaly i can properly be the imperium FINATICAL PURIFIERS FTW
I really like these videos, they are a really good sumary for those who don't read dev diaries
I shall wait. The dlc will eventually go on sale, and modders will find a way to build Death Stars with this. Thats all i wanna do, have a TRUE Galactic Empire and the Death Star to blow up planet after planet.
Seems like nobody else is saying this, but...
Utopia looks awesome. Can't wait for the 6th

The dawn of everything... lies within his eyes
This DLC looks spectacular. I think I'll purchase it now while it's on sale.
This is OT, but I liked how your swedish accent gave the speech a nice melody to it.
Are you have a Time machine? I want to buy Utopia now
Pretty sure the Blorg commonality got one
Sahok brony Do you*

Sorry, I am from Russia. My English very bad

soooooo even more information to be overwhelmed with (which is a good thing)
Very good video, thank you! I was wondering if you can please give me some insight with the add-ons for Stellaris? Damn it, Wiz! You know how to make yourself a new meme!
Those eyes. They stare into my soul and see my crimes.
So we finally have a proper way to win the game, the existing options are just so absurdly stretched out that i've never finished a game
At least one more dlc is needed for this game to become one of the best 4x4 games of this decade (at least).
I hope the next DLC will contain new ship desings and new technologies too.
This is gonna be so GOOD
Hivemind is literally the Flood. I know what my next playthrough is!
It's all well and good (very good indeed). But I really wish you added some covert warfare options. 0:34 that's no moon
that's a space station
As an Xbox one player who just got this dlc I am so happy
I can't handle this much Wiz
3 days hype!
please, next time, just talk about the hard work you have been doing for the last 6 months without a script, so that way when u are reading it off... you don't look like your going to suck my soul out. looks like a good expansion, I will buy it :).
Why is synthetic ascension disabled when playing hive-minded?
The only way to add different pops to your hivemind, so that they don't die you have to gene mod them. But for this you need the bioligical ascension path.
Flasat Because its a materialistic mindset.
but synthetic ascension would make sense too, so you could make a Star Trek Borg-like species.
hive minded people can not co-exist with other races
don't you need a specific mindset for biological ascension too?
I assume that the megastructures take a long time to build.
Nice, Hopefully someday we will get world ending space stations or vessels that can wipe out entire systems
MARTIN, ffs VOICE ACT for STELLARIS ALREADY!
Good old murderface Wizz ^^
He doesn't blink
Still waiting for a Death Star megastructure...
Super hyped for this!
Holy shit i can become the reapers? Hell yeah
Can't wait to ascend to a higher plain of existence like the Ancients.
This man gets all the blorg cloaka
Wiz looks like a Mass Effect Andromeda character
Two days! Can't wait :D
Hey wiz, why don't you start focusing on fixing the ai, sectors, spawning system, and warscore? Might make the game worth playing.
But is there a Federation Mapmode though..?
this sounds realy cool. now we have to change the warscore system, maybe the option to change the ethics after start and other victorys.
and it would be nice if i can see in detail what i have to change to go in a alliance. for example if there is a -50 for dont having the same bombardment rules, i dont know what rules my future ally want me to have. or is this still in the game and i dont see it?

Numrollen2001 you ,me and everyone else has thats problem.
tricks that have worked for me are single world sectors and as less mods as possible
I dont use any mods. Single world Sectors? Sounds like downgrading the game to 8bit just to get it fluid on the boring endgame. Yesterday i get around ~320k fleet and it heavy stutters on zoom. great for this low poly stuff to get this bad performance.
When will ground combat be enhanced? Like thats massive short coming of Stellaris.
2:32 cool ships but what race? :|
'Use your Space' hah I get it, I think
April 6th? That's very soon!
2:10 Blorg is hive minded?!
plox add the ability to name the heir in monarchies
Will we be able to declare war with the aim of wiping out or taking all planets of a nation?
Or will we still be limited to taking 4 or 5 planets, then waiting 10 years etc.
Is it gone then?
So it's not fixed then, I still can't launch a genocide war?
takes time to complete a genocide anyways. whats the problem with waiting after you wipe out half the galaxy now?
Warscore costs can be decreased through technologies. Also, cleansing of planets is only possible if you have purge policy set to "Allowed" or "Xenos only". These war goals are around for some time, you must have noticed it. It will, however, incur massive diplomatic penalties if you do so.

I would like to preoder the DLC.... but I hope can wait few more days... 😀
Ooh! Three-point lighting. You guys mean business. ;)
oh hell yes fanatical purifiers
I love you Paradox
is there a zoom hot key yet, or do we still have to use a remapping program like autohotkey?
What was that background music? Very cool.
The tradition system looks inspired by civ v civics tree
I would have liked to be able to conquer another species and merge them with my hive mind instead of simply consuming them, much like the Borg.
Once you've entered biological ascendancy you will gain the ability to gene mod species into your hive.
+Yuri Sonovab Most excellent indeed. Many thanks.
*3 days before UTOPIA*
I guess they just got a pre-order out of me...
id prefer optimization, we got Distant worlds with that goes way smoother than stellaris
not gonna lie when I saw the promo art for this dlc and the Dyson sphere the nerd in me creamed a bit
