Description:
Tom Dowd was one of the two Guests of Honors in Ropecon 1996. He is best known for his work with Shadowrun science fantacy role-playing game. In this video tutorial he runs us and a bunch of lucky Ropecon goers through the Shadowrun Second Edition game system, then sets up the stage for a short gaming session.
This presentation was recorded at Ropecon, the largest non-commercial roleplaying convention in Europe. The convention was held for the 3th time during summer 1996 in the Paasitorni conference center in Hakaniemi, Helsinki, Finland. Ropecon 1996 gathered over thousand visitors for one weekend to play roleplaying, collectible card, miniature, board, and live action games, to listen to presentations, and to participate in workshops.

I inherited and bought many 2nd edition books. I fell in love with the world and coming from Earthdawn I also loved the tie ins. But also coming from Earthdawn I never figured the game system out. This is a great find for me as it should bridge the gaps in my mind. Thank-you for uploading this.

The guy at 2:12 is not that wrong. Air filtration system was mostly useless, because most gas gerneades had skin contact.
Look how good our imagination was back then, this game is mainly imagination and some pictures from a book or sketched. Life was so simple before the internet. Who has time for these type of meet ups these days.
