the sample is in the Zenhiser old school sample pack, clean as a whistle along with loads of other familiar sounds, a must have for anyone wanting to recreate old style music
Any chance you could give us the time in the track the sample is at? I have tried a few different chords and can't find one that sounds anything like yours
Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick !! thats what i said aloud to myself watching this , wikid stuff Ry your detective work has unsolved a very longtime mystery ;) maximum respect to the man like rykennon. U wouldnt beleive how many forums have discuss the origin . u hav definitly cracked the egg bruvr !!!
Well found! Been wondering how they got this sound for years. Also heard on Terrorize - It's just a feeling. And to the idiot who said it's not the correct sample, you need to get your ears syringed or at least prove us wrong by showing us your suspected origins of the sample.
do u know wer the scratch effect comes from used in playing with knifes? and also am desperate for the intro synth origin and how to play it, ive re created the piano, bass drums, vocals, just missing them 2 parts, any help on this?
+Josh Bingham You can get a clean version from 'Rich in Paradise' - If I recall it was a sample from a Norman Cook breakbeat album that was off an older electro track.
No it definitely is that chord and sample the end of the vid is proof its exactly the same sound as the bizarre inc one. This tune came out in '89 whereas Playing with Knives was 91.

It sure is, but I was just showing where they sampled it from as all the sounds in that Zenhiser pack are sampled from orig hardcore tunes anyway.
Do you know exactly what is the name of this sound in this pack ?
The piano it was played on sounds very much like a Korg M1. That's probably the pella they sampled it from however.
