Thank you for posting this video. This painting has been a favorite of mine since I saw it in a children's encyclopedia many, many years ago. I was fortunate to see Nighthawks at several retrospectives at the Whiney Museum. In 2013, a collection of Hopper's sketches was published which included a Crawford Lunch in the Flatiron building which may have been the inspiration for Nighthawks diner.

IT'S HANGING ON MY WALL IN A SILVER FRAME. Some of my illustrations have that Hopper vibe.

People always say "isolation" and "alienation" when talking about this, but I've always thought it portrayed something far more valuable and beautiful-- urban tranquility.

A no mams, tu explicación fue muy frofunda, cuando estaba bien grifo, al chile vi esta pintura, y mi mente se puso a volar, la verdad me di un buen viaje con solo mirar la pintura y ver mi interior.

Thanks for doing this. Do you think that the woman is rubbing her little finger on the mans index finger? If she is, it changes everything.

the man in white isn't a waiter, more properly he's a counterman

such a dramatic, moody painting - it seems to look to me as if an act of violence is about to happen

the man with his back to us, has become tense [ back muscles tense like reaction to an attack] at the arrival one or the other guests who's facial expressions as well as body language betray an attention towards not the waiter even tough they look at him, their attention is exactly where they aren't looking > the guest with his back to us.
