The Ultimate Doom is one of the most influential PC games of all time. It takes inspiration from the movies Aliens and Evil Dead II, as well as a D&D campaign the developers were playing at the time where the world was threatened with an invasion by the forces of hell.
You play the role of one of Earth's most hardened marines who has been imprisoned on Mars. The people there are experimenting with interdimensional travel when something goes wrong and the bases are overrun with interdimensional monsters. You're the only one left who can stop them.
Development for Doom began in 1992, just as the Spear of Destiny was being finished. Doom was released for PC in 1993, with the updated version, The Ultimate Doom with an additional episode, being released a couple of years later in 1995.
