merc in sag here 2nd house, four planets (incl jupiter) - been hoarding metaphysical books since forever...just sold/donated about 350-400 books and i still have about 15 cases of such books.
My personal favorite Mercury in Sag is Michael Stipe of REM. Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Mars in Sag in the 3rd, square his Pisces Moon in the 6th. The grandson and great grandson of Methodist ministers and the son of a career army dad. The consummate questioner, writing such overtly political lyrics, yet writing such tender songs that pay loving homage to the family against whose lifestyle he deeply rebels. He speaks often in interviews of the positive role that his family religion and a belief in God have played in his personal life and career. His voice is quite unique too, and has such a warm and homespun quality.
Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, 12th house. Often suffering from foot in mouth disease, a cantankerous kind of sense of humor maybe sometimes - I think I'm funny anyway. definitely will be looking into McKenna as on starting to fall in line with that way of thinking given the current circumstance of the world in general. As they say the revolution will not be televised... we're just going to take care of that through our handheld devices as we're being tracked by big brother. Okay there I said it!
Ha! I'm a 3-planet Sag w. Mercury Sag on my ASC (Sag). I'm a publlished Tarot author, published poet, magazine columnist, livestream broadcaster and professional singer. I now use my voice in sound healing as part of my sacred work to share in the world. In addition to all that, I have a regular, 9-5 FT job. I also create custom crystal and gemstone jewelry. I don't have a family - my creative projects are my "children."

Mercury (plus Sun and Venus) in Sag, with Jupiter (and Moon) in Gemini. Have always had big ideas and delegate the details to others, except when I go down a rabbit hole of detail. Then I jump from successfully leading to sowing confusion with mixed messages until I get back on track. I am a procrastinator, then make clearly reasoned and articulated decisions when I ultimately make them -- and stick to them. Generally, my intuition about people and situations is spot on, but my fails in that area are spectacular!
I have Mercury in Sagittarius! I was excited for this video and curious about how it plays out being in it's detriment. It sounds like detriment is more dealing with the polarity versus Mercury not functioning well ( which is what I thought it meant). I could relate exactly to how you described it. I also have a tendency to substitute the wrong words for the word I meant to say. My brain is like a Thesaurus... I'll be like...I said the wrong word, but they mean the same thing!
Mercury at 1 degree of Sagittarius (12th house, or 1st if using whole signs) here. 🙋♀️ thank you for your input on this. All I’ve ever really really found about my Mercury in Sag is “scattered thoughts. ADD. Not being able to communicate them well.” Which made me feel like it was a weak point- I used to have trouble communicating but honestly- a lot of the time in the most recent years is because of Telepathy being used and I just didn’t do much of the talking. Other people would speak my thoughts or answer them out loud. Sometimes it would move so fast I just wouldn’t feel the need to chime in because I was getting so much information. It would be like the conversation happening physically could mean multiple things. They would be relative to what’s going on so it all makes sense say if you were just a 3rd party observer but everything being said/that happened would be spot on 100% relative to what was going on in my head as well. Sometimes these would happen in short bursts, sometimes hours upon hours.
I’ve been really pushing myself to be able to communicate about this stuff more but I think it makes sense with it being in my 12th, or even just Sag alone. Plus my Jupiter in Pisces 3rd house.
Would also like to state I have a HUGE split within me about the direction to take in life. Don’t know if I should follow speaking about these things in an educational manner - or through music. I write rap songs about spirituality and I’m a very decent singer and can get pretty big with my voice. (North Node in Leo 28 degrees. I’m also a Sag Sun/Rising/Mercury/Venus/Pluto and my signature sign is Leo)

I so appreciate all your videos, thank you! This stands out to me as a really influential placement in my chart. I have Mercury at 28 Sag in my second house, opposite Jupiter at 28 Gemini. Communication/translation/advocacy are all key words I'd use to describe my work (or my favorite parts of various jobs I've had), and I definitely feel this strange aversion of and obsession with detail. I am definitely a big picture, optimist dreamer, and default to seeing the long view and scope (and some kinds of details it's like my brain is teflon and just cannot care enough to retain) but also I love really delving into details of anything that interests me (sco rising after all) and have a powerful ability to remember detail in those areas. Sarcasm is a funny subject for me. I love sarcasm and dry humor, but I am often way too deadpan in my own sarcasm such that people cant tell im joking 😅 it's a pattern ive noticed. Definitely have had to learn to speak more slowly and with less intensity than I might naturally, so that people dont think im angry or overly emotional when really it may just be my enthusiasm or excitement highlighting otherwise composed thinking. definitely have had to learn to listen more patiently and overcome my impulse to interrupt people (especially those who speak slowly). i love sharing and teaching (pride myself on helping interpret complex subjects to be more easily understood) and in my head as I learn something new i almost immediately start processing it by explaining it to an imaginary other. Hope these notes are interesting or helpful for somebody studying these placements 🙏.
Hey, I too have merc in sag 22 and jup in Gemini 24 and Scorpio rising! Really relating to these points and yeah can't believe how people don't get.oue humour until we explain it and the joke is is lost! Oh well still makes me laugh 😂 I work with big projects, current is pan-european. Definitely an optimist and a lot of belief in powers greater than mine. Getting used to others not being able to see the bigger picture but the downside is trying to explain a vision to a non-believer, or dare I say people blinkered by same old. Nice knowing were up there with Newton, who and many other spiritual believer s who gave a lot to the world ☺️
Umm yes this is me ❤️ I was wild rebellious outlaw until about 28 - had and still do, a whole host of colorful characters surrounding me which I love with all my heart ❤️ now more of the mellowed , doubting Thomas who loves to search for meaning in everything and everyone and analyze the characters and the world around me . My mercury and Jupiter in sag. Leo moon and rising. Cap sun. I hate that I accidentally interrupt. I hate that I put my foot in my mouth sometimes. I’m easily excitable and tend to get excited for others. I think my cap sun reigns me in in the exaggeration aspect. I used to be a choreographer and let’s just say it was my strange way of communication. And yes my choreography had an almost otherworldly feel. Alien.
I have Mercury in Sagittarius in the 10th/Jupiter in Scorpio in the 9th. I had to laugh in recognition to all the examples you gave. Definitely suffer from foot in mouth on occasion. I also love to sing and make content/teach. This talk made me appreciate this placement a little more because people generally look negatively towards it. This was an interesting video. I have Mercury in Sagittarius. Jupiter is my chart ruler as I am a Sagittarius rising. I’m often seen as optimistic and extroverted and people love my good humor as I keep people laughing. However, I’m seen as being somewhat of a troublemaker or a trickster. In fact, as a Capricorn I’m actually quite stamdoffish and cold. I enjoyed the breakdown of the different variations of mercury in sag based on where Jupiter lies in the chart. Quite informative.

I have Mercury at 15 Sag and Jupiter at 11 Virgo, Sag rising. One thing I notice myself doing and think about all the time in regards to things like Astrology, is trying to quantify or science-ify spiritual things. Trying to break down, pin down, categorize, PROVE true with evidence, and standardize things like spirituality or archetypes or poetry, art, emotions, things that I'm coming to think really aren't meant to be explained. Like dissecting a joke to the point of ruining it. I'm an artist and also have the Moon at 16 Pisces so Jupiter has some double reception going on and I'm constantly trying to amass a database on exactly how reality works. Really curious if you have any more insight on that, I love your work you're a huge inspiration.

I can relate. I've followed/studied Astrology all of my life 65+ years, and I still find myself not "believing" it, but rather always trying to prove to myself it's true/accurate/whatever. I tell people that Astrology is not a matter of "belief" but a typology of human beings, that, as a separate study, could possibly predict the future, but only from the standpoint of certain types of people doing certain things that lead to various reactions on the part of other types of people. Thus the future creates itself in the same what that evolution does. Everything that happens depends on what has come before it. This is in line, I believe with the teachings of Gurdjieff, although he was also very focused on what he calls "accident" and the "laws of accident."

Holy shit! I have Mercury at 9 Sag and Mars at 10 Sag (both conjunct with Antares, ooooh) at the 9th and Jupiter at 14 Virgo and moon in 18 Pisces.
I have to say that on work stuff, I'm very VIRGO-like. I was "book-smart" at school, could handle engineering, social sciences and biological science at once. BUT at the same time, I LOVE and appreciate everything artistic and esoteric, philosophical, all that Sagittarius/Pisces stuff. Especially, POLITICS. And even military strategy and international espionage.
I do. My conversations can catch fire. It can be good or too much… depending. I’ve exaggerated for effect. When being social it’s difficult to maintain balance.

I have Mercury in Sag conjunct Rahu, Sun, Venus and Neptune all in Sag....Jupiter in Pisces in the 5th house as the final dispositor of my chart (besides Mars in Scorpio, which shares that status). I'm an artist, photographer and astrologer and I write very philosophical write ups with my photographs. I interrupt people often ( I hate that I do this), but I'm also a very detailed listener and remember what people say. My moon is in Virgo in the 11th, mercurial. During the pandemic I've found my artistic voice and I've considered doing an astrology podcast, but I see myself doing something very different than other astrologers and artists. I have a tendency to go overboard with everything that I do, just like you said about the prolific amount of work that Mercury in Sag people do. In a matter of a year, I've catalogued thousands of photographs. It's compulsive. I imagine that whatever I do, going overboard would manifest. I've also had my demon fights with substances and that took its toll on my life for many years. I've heard many people talk about Mercury in Sag as being a really negative placement. It's only been negative for me due to ashamed avasthas that I've had to contend with it sitting with Rahu and the Sun, maybe being mucked up a little by Neptune in a 3 degree orb conjunction. My stellium in Sag are all in orb except for Venus, which is in a little higher degrees, but I still count it in the conjunction. However, everything you've said here is spot on for me...I mean, look how long my comment is? Jeez. Thanks for your insight. Merry Christmas.
Maybe a bit late to the party as this video is a year old, but my Mercury in Sag shows up in my neurodivergence of being autistic/ADHD. My thoughts zip all over the place at 200mph, and I find my mouth desperately trying to keep up, while my brain displays the "buffering" screen 😂 It's difficult for me to keep my thoughts in order. Writing helps with communication/planning! Any kind of writing. Lists, journalling, even online communication is a tonne easier than in-person.

And now in my career in sales I joke that I am the translator between my clients and our engineers. Too funny. I also have to write things down to remember them and when i do write them i can read the page in my mind later. Progressed Mercury is direct in Capricorn now. When I first did my chart from an astrology book, chart your own chart ; the planets were placed Mercury in Sagittarius, Sun, Mars & Jupiter in Capricorn along with the placing in other houses, but when seeing Chart from other astrology sites they placed them differently. How does this change the emephris from the astronomical placement of the planets then and now from that perspective. Most of the people l admired and that's what I wanted but didn't know how, no support system. My ambition was like most of peoples comments. I endure the disconnect with religion and wanting to be an singer,dancer and actress, instead a pregnancy and family which ended with a husband and religion controlling my lifestyle completely. I can relate to Tina Turner bruises and abuse, life. The turmoil that she had with her husband and children she tried to make a home for. Every person who committed about being excited and enthusiastic about life was met with resistance from other people or groups of people with resistance to my ambitions to themselves. Please understand l loved people and wanted to share something beautiful (a talent like them) but it became difficult to find that balance with the world of systems in religion, politics, career and family when so many competing forces, especially with being a Gemini sun in 3rd house with Saturn and Neptune in natal chart Libra. transit.

3) Can you do a "2021 year-ahead transits" video where you quickly talk about the upcoming year and what the major transits means? I have Mercury in aries in a trine with Jupiter in sag, but due that I have been receiving only squares by Pluto to my planets in Aries, I don’t consider myself a very mercurial person in the last twelve years, even as a photographer I haven’t been so interested in all the professional cameras and equipment, I have been obsessed more with the aesthetics, beauty, harmony and all those Venusian things that also make the arts, I see that is going to change again and I am going to comeback to the books, writing and knowledge.

Ahh, I have Mercury in 28 degree Sag/5th house (almost conjunct Neptune in 0 Cap) opposite Chiron in Gemini! Jupiter is in Cap conjunct Venus.
I was so excited to hear this and boom, I relate a lot to what you mentioned; thank you. This is the first time I am hearing Mercury in Sag in such a light and I felt inspired, thank you. I always worried that I was getting lost in the streets if I relied on my mind's GPS but not my feel of the address or my unselective memory access. Now, interestingly, all people you mentioned I am literally in love with from the musicians to the linguists or the yogis. Alcohol/drugs/smoking never been something in my life due to strict family rules. Nevertheless, I like it when someone smokes a cigar or pipe while thinking, landscape gazing, or reading a book. This was by the way, very inspiring for me with my talent in languages. Without even studying much, just through hearing, and skimming I picked up 3 languages (I speak 5 and only one of them is my native language; I am going to learn some ancient languages next, anyhow it is a hobby and I almost never earned a penny from it until very recent years when I become a translator and language teacher, surprizing everyone where I was hiding). I can relate to almost any culture or ideology as mine, but I can say I have no personal ideology anymore anyway. As for the Chiron, I have my Uranus and Sun in Sag too, so let me put it this way, whatever I am into, my family and people around me get there some years or decades later and THEN they start preaching me [Man, it was "I" who introduced you to this subject long ago, did you forget it? No, you didn't]. I am almost very good at literature and poetry but I never created something for people to read. I kept everything hidden because it felt too personal and I always felt exposed if I shared (Saturn conjunct South Node in Scorpio and Pluto in his home sign too). All in all, I loveeeeee languages in all forms. Oh, normally I do not cut off anyone's talk, but interestingly when I get bored with a long talk by by my mom or my boyfriend who both have their Sun conjunct my Mercury, I naturally tend to put in some words like affirmations and similar ideas and I usually get a red card. Sighs ...

Wow! Great video!! I have mercury 27 sag Conjunct sun 24 sag exact Conjunct Neptune 24 sag all in 12th house! My Jupiter is in Scorpio. I feel like I can tell when my soul recognizes a real familiar soul cuz when I start talking it’s like speed talking like I’m channeling from somewhere, I have to slow myself down and sometimes I have so many words/images/thoughts that I cannot find the right words to describe them!
My sister has this placement and i think she is one of the most interesting person i know.....she knows the most random trivia....and she'll bring it uo in the most random moments....like the cousin's will be talking avout the beach and shell say something like " its sad the we dont use mezcal as a source of power, we could save so.many numbet of whales id we did"....obviously im.just making stuff up.....but shes always saying stuff like thag and we all just look at her, at each other and just start cracking up.....shes hilarious.....i love my sister
I’d like to add Phillip K. Dick to that list. He was a science fiction writer and gave us great books from which wonderful movies and TV shows were inspired/created like blade runner, minority report, total recall, the adjustment bureau, scanner darkly and of course the amazing the man in the high castle. Truly a man way ahead of our time. It’s puzzling that he has Saturn conjunct mercury and sun in Sagittarius, Saturn being the planet of restriction in his case operated differently I guess.

Very informative thank you! I have mercury, Venus, and Neptune all loosely conjunct in Sagittarius 7h. Jupiter is in Capricorn (on top of the north node lol), which I am suddenly thinking may be a good thing for me in tempering that sag stellium a bit 🧐
In class we’ve talked about Mercury conjunct Sun - the sun is in early Capricorn in my chart, basically in between Jupiter and mercury. I’m having a hard time envisioning how the mercury/sun dynamic plays out in this Particular scenario. Can’t wait to learn more! You are such a great teacher, thank you 🙏

I have Mercury in Sagittarius, and Jupiter in Gemini, so they are at each other's homes. Mercury is at 27 degrees in the fourth house with my IC, Jupiter with my MC. I work on behalf of the district court and write investigations when families can not agree on custody, housing and contact with children. And there will be hundreds of pages every month!
through this series I have realized that I have a pretty much identical inner planets birth chart like bjork except moon and saturn,
but the rest and the rising are all the same damn

Wow. thank you for that. I've listened to about a dozen RUclips astrology talks over the last few years. Finally you, one who doesn't trade in "lots-of-listening, nothing-really-said hour-long drones. I don't have Mercury in Sag, but I have one comment, and then of course, in great Astrological tradition, I'm going to tell you all about my Mercury and my Sag. First, Mercury is never far from the Sun, as we all know, so in your great delineation of Mercury/Sag in a wide assortment of famous people, it might have been interesting to mention each one's Sun-sign because it's a limited set and therefore may be a major determinate in the lives of these people vis a vis their Mercury/Sag. Were they Libra, Scorpio, Sag, Capricorn, Acquarius Suns? As for me, I have Sag rising, and the chart ruler Jupiter in the second house 22 degrees Capricorn, retrograde. And all of the recent funny business with Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn has been playing around this way and that with my natal Jupiter. And how am I to sort all this out, me, a Virgo with Mercury within a couple of minutes conjunct Neptune in Libra near my South node. I should say that I'm right now going to seek out your other videos and writings. Thanks again.

Progressed vs Natal charts? My progressed chart has Mercury in the 3rd w Sagg on the cusp & much of what you say rings true. I’m interested in how to interpret transits relative to the natal or progressed charts.
I was married to a Mercury in Sag, and I will say: he made mountains out of mole hills, he was difficult to understand-skipped critical info in his breathless rush to say EVERYTHING, he was wildly curious/analytical but to the point of annoyance (let’s not analyze the design of the coffee maker), and I have noticed others with this placement aren’t great LISTENERS 😳🤣.

I’m curious about this placement as you would interpret it please? I have it but its retrograde. Many of the characteristics I embody such as been an On Air Morning Show Radio Talent worked in TV for a while in past. I’m currently finally creating my own broadcast studio. I’m Scorpio Sun/Rising. I have had so many road blocks, so many traumas in my life which derailed me from getting this studio done and creating my dream & getting my souls work out there. Each time I’d get close something would happen and put me back 6 months or just utterly Devastate me to the point I would have to go through therapy to pull myself out of it. So my question is: What about when you have Mercury Rx in Sagittarius? Thank you 🙏🏼

I'm wondering about something, and I'm hoping it would be worth a little talk for RUclips! My natal Mars is in Sagittarius, and my natal Venus is in Taurus (along with my ascendant, for house reference). Funny how you said Mercury can be quite literally a big voice. My husband has Mercury in Sag conjunct his sun in his 3rd house, and he's a growler in a heavy metal band. He loves a deep, hearty growl, like Dark Tranquility. But when it come to verbalizing his thoughts, he always complains that he has a hard time. I don't know if it's his combust Mercury but translating thoughts to words doesn't seem to come naturally to him, which is doubly frustrating as a Sun-Mercury in Sag + Libra moon/Asc because he constantly finds himself in situations where he's debating deep or abstract notions and questioning established thought, usually religious, and defending his own spiritual choices and philosophies that he takes very seriously. Growling his heart out definitely came more easily to him and so does working with technology. There's much better communication with his online friends than family or colleagues, in part I think due to the longer time it takes to word something in text form than direct speech. We joke that he's far more fluent in emoji than any other language. I try to give him as much time as needed for him to phrase something accurately and "let mercury shine through his sun" so to speak because he's a very inspiring person. Always talks big picture but acts in tiny, tiny steps. BUT he does get visions and precognitive dreams a lot. Always visual, rarely verbal.
