Honestly yeah, the birds traveling might become an issue, especially since irl, game birds like pheasants and grouse, as well as rabbits hunker down in the brush or grass before running. A behavior the rabbits have in Classic, but not COTW.
The only thing on the accuracy of that, is they can’t fly in their eclipse plumage (for those not in the know, ducks shed their plumage and can’t fly for about a month at the end of breeding season until their new feathers come through before they go off on migration). Still cool though!
Quick question Mr. Flinter. What are you going to shoot the pheasant with? For the other great ones, you have used a bow, but, unless I missed it, there aren't arrows in the game that can ethically kill class 1 species.
Are great one pheasant Level 10 like every other animal? I really like the fact that it flushes the animal towards you. I was worried it would just make them flush in any direction

My game had loading issues and long story short I lost all 2024's gameplay all the way back to January, all of Sundarpatan ( half the tiger rares ToT ) and the whole 1200+ kill grind I started with fallow deer on Te awaroa which had over 10 diamonds. ( I had basically no diamond anything before ) Point being, just went back to Te awaroa last night on a fresh map and one of the first things I find is a diamond feral pig and then a diamond fallow shortly after lol. All the money I made, all the tents and tripods I bought/placed, all the rares and diamonds all gone. so mad, it was such a stupid glitch too and it didn't even tell me when it happened just loaded up into a file that shouldn't even have existed and then saved over my normal one -3-
The GSPs and the pointing skills are kind of useless. Your best bet is to take your old tracker and retriever, and use the expert skill to give them the opposite. Save your money on the gsp.
Really hoping EW makes a rugged looking, cloudy, agricultural Wisconsin or Iowa map with corn and bean fields, shooting houses, creek bottoms, leafless hardwoods, and run down farmhouses for the next map. Tired of seeing all this aesthetically pleasing fantasy world maps that should have elven fairies running around instead of real life looking hunting regions. Seriously, I was so disappointed when Mississippi acres released and everything was green with blooming flowers. I know it’s the south, but I grew up hunting there. The hardwoods lose their leaves by November.

Yeah the problem with the pointer is that upland hunting is so bad that it doesn't function at all the way a pointer should, at this point they just need to make a new game. this one is clearly beyond fixing

the eclipse plumage is really cool that should be the early season plumage on the ducks before the really cold weather comes and they start migrating

I think the pointer mite not be the most effective in all situations but could be great on maps like rev with the grouse and ptarmigan
It's useless on all maps. Any larger game than a bird spooks when the dog gets withing 300 yards

I'm from The Netherlands. Maps like Hirschfelden and this one have a realistic feel to them, they don't quite look like fantasy to us :-)
